How do I make it work?
Buy Lehigh
Because it's pretty niche for/k/, a lot of people here simply don't shoot enough or don't shoot calibers that make it worth it. Same reason competition threads wither on the vine.
I have a decent little corner of the garage setup but I work too much to have time to even clean it right now
You'll kill your barrel with one shot. Also (((illegal)))
>Also (((illegal)))
Only to sell.
Sexy, good job user
I thought AP pistol was illegal to make?
Few enough people on Jow Forums actually own guns, let alone reloading equipment.
is absolutely right about other threads like competition and other actual use threads dying with 4 posts. It's a little sad to see people not bothering to get out and shoot what they own. I think AR threads are so successful because there's no getting out of your basement, there's no skill, no practice, there's nothing but dragging your safe-queen out and snapping a couple pictures.
BABBY KILLR!!
Nope, only to manufacture for sale
That's some lit shit dude.
>inb4 i get caught with homemade steel core 9mm and go to jail
You can buy/sell stuff made pre-ban and mske your own, you just can't make it to sell.
Basically, Instagram thresds will flourish, troll threads will flourish, for everything else go to a proper dedicated forum.
>Which is unfortunate because those places suck for a whole different reason
Does anyone make a hand tool kit for .410 shotgun shells, like a lee loader? Or am I stuc making the improvised one.
youtube.com
If I am understanding your question, this might do for ya.
There are dies available for a press, but it's best to roll your own kit
I've heard there are single stage dies for 410 but they're all out of production.
Most of Jow Forums dosent even fucking shoot, let alone actually reload.
>go into reloading thread
>reloading is dumb
I barely shoot, but mainly because of cost. reloading should help with that I think.
>M1 ball
>made for garand
no
I'm reloading M2 ball spec ammo , the moron I replied to said M1 ball, not me.
I just don't have anything much to say about it. I forgot to expand the case mouths on some .45 and the jacket shaved off while seating. So now I have 495 rounds. It's really bugging me. I should have stopped after the first one but enough time went by between case prep and seating that I forgot I didn't expand the case mouth.
Realistically how much would it be per round to reload 9mm for cheap? Or should I just buy from the internet?
I just switched from the Lee Deluxe Quick Trim system to the World's Cheapest Trimmer. Thank God I bought the Lee stuff from Brownells and can just return it.
Yeah I thin that guy is a bit spedecial. Try 48gr IMR 4064 on a 150gr FMJ//BT
About $.12 per round but you could probably go cheaper.
You wont see returns on reloaded 9 untill you get to like 10k rounds
$0.11 for cast bullets
>measuring charge weights one at a time on the triple beam for muh match champion accuracy
>powder trickle accidentally puts a few too many powders into the pan, I'm 0.1 grains over
>get dipper and remove 2 powder pieces
>scale shows I'm 0.2 grains over now
Am I the only one who witnesses this magic on the daily?
The Garand was designed for M1 ball. M2 came about several years later.
I'm actually laughing out loud right now. I know that all too well. I wanted to start a comic strip about various reloading things and that was my first idea.
Wtf? How is that even?
Whats a good/reputable site to get reloading supplies from? Or should i go to my lgs fir that
Jow Forums doesn't shoot enough to reload their own ammo
midsouthshooterssupply.com
midwayusa.com
I get bullets online but powder and primers in store.
CAD up a mold that puts a soft lead shell in the desired caliber around the philips head, but still keys in the head so that it's in the correct position. Send said CAD out to someone who can make your part. Cast and load.
Thank God it's not just me.
no clue
Ah good, i already have a midway account
Any particular reason for the split? Or just get better deals that way?
The HAZMAT fees. Sometimes they waive it if you spend a certain amount.
Oh god, i used a 1 instead of a 2 when referring to useless ammo some faggot is trying to replicate because hes too fucking cheap to buy an adjustable fucking plug.
What a bunch of fucking retards
creedmoorsports.com
Heres some high speed data, with the above 21$ plug you can reload anyfucking level you want, and it will recoil less than the stock plug does with M2 ball, the fact that you completely fucking ignored what i said speaks volumes about your own stupidity, but you want to reload a great cartridge to literal shit levels because you are too fucking stupid to do a google search.
youtube.com
Fucking christ, its faggots like you making RLG as bad as all the other generals.
Those aren't permitted in most CMP comps, and some people like reproducing the original ammo.
>I have a Schuster's btw
linked the wrong one but some fat fucking autist is sure so be a faggot about it.
>and some people like reproducing the original ammo.
Thats fucking retarded if its not needed.
How am I supposed to larp with a modified gun? You disgust me.
Not adding a non permanent gas plug forcing you to choose between A)your rifle beating itself to death because you dared to use anything even close to the potential power level it's chambered in or B) literally cucking yourself to go.out.of your way to reload shit ammo that will actually cause more wear and damage to your gun than full power high grain hunting loads will do worth an adjustable plug.
God its almost like you are literally subhuman.
I bet you have a sporterized Enfield too, pathetic.
>Comparing a non permanent, low profile, safety feature so your cmp garand actually wears less with max loads than your stock plug and your shit show of a load, to sporterizing an Enfield.
Look man, if you want to someone to fuck your wife literally anyone will do it, you don't have to hurt your gun and waste your time trying to reload the worst .30-06 loading ever.
I only got like 60% ignition with my rem 7.5 match SRP 9mm loads. They did pick up about 50fps when they did fire though so that's cool...
Why are you not using CCI?
You're fucking retarded
I'm slugging my arisaka barrel tonight. Anyone else have a Type 38? Do you use .264 or .268 diameter bullets?
I just got into reloading, it's fun and I don't understand why more people don't do it. I picked up powder, primers, bullets, brass and a Lee Loader all for about $100 bucks.
I wish my local stores sold powder in 8lb jugs. I understand why they dont but it suks for me
it involves doing something besides shitposting.
Only one of mine does and luckily they are competitive or better than powder valley... The other wanted $315 for a keg of h4350....
I made a joke at my local gun shop about the new California governor outlawing reloading supplies, and he said they wouldn't because no one has reloaded ammo used in a mass shooting. Got me thinking, is he right? Maybe Charles Whitman?
>reload .357 magnum for 7cpr
>endless cheap fun cowboy plinking
Why didn't I start reloading sooner?
How?
I'm assuming that's with range-pickup brass and self-cast bullets. Even the cheapest plated bullets I can find come out to $.07/piece alone.
yep
picked up primers for $20 for 1000, powder for $10 a pound, and cast wheel weight bullets.
Question: my current .357 load is 18 grains of w296 pushing a 125 grain bullet.
If I lowered my load to like 14 grains of powder, would it still work? Or is having that much air in the case dangerous? Can I just do that with the same powder?
loaded new ammo is 15 cents a round, why bother.
Where do you see that?
My walmart has 9mm value packs for about 22 cents per round, and online you can get down to about 19 cents per round when buying 1000. Where do you buy 9mm for 15 cents per round? I still don't bother reloading 9mm, but I can see the utility if you have a progressive press, you can pump out thousands relatively quickly and save a bit of cash. The real utility of loading up pistol ammo is that you can make really hot practice ammo that matches your carry ammo, which can be hard to find.
Bump
You aren't supposed to underload W296 / H110 but your 18 grain load is already under Hodgdon's starting load of 21
deprimed 100 cases yesteray with my lee loader. It is indeed cathartic.
Wife doesn't like the noise. *sigh* I really need a dedicated work area when we move.
Basically use the W296 for hot loads and another powder would be better for loading plinker rounds.
if you're looking for a light cheap load, switch powders. Bullseye or Unique or trailboss. Even their listed loads are lighter (signficantly) than that and with lead projectiles you can back off even more. Don't mix jacketed bullets and gallery loads though. Bad ju-ju.
Thanks lads. I started at 18 grains just so I could work up to the 21 grain max
Nice Autism boxes
what are you supposed to put your loaded rounds into?
This is good advice.
Starting underneath minimum load could be a problem my man
Good luck with that, you need a garage! My gf hated when I would measure powder on the kitchen table. It was hard to use the triple beam when the garage door was open and a slight breeze came through.
Ammo cans Because they are not made of glass
The plastic boxes are convenient to label different loads like when you're working up a load, they hold 50 or 100 so 1 or 2 loading trays worth and I usually don't shoot a full ammo can worth at one range trip.
21 is maximum load though?
I dont know I just read this post and felt that starting underneath minimum load is worth mentioning.
Do you bring giant ammo cans for each caliber you shoot to the range? I put all my bulk ammo and pistol stuff in plastic CD organizer totes... Precision stuff a doubt want banged up goes in the individual trays. It's also easier to keep track up brass that way. Also your carpet looks gross and I bet your house stinks like mildew.
I have been using 20G primers for 12G shotshells for years without understanding there was a difference, how fucked are my guns
>Do you bring giant ammo cans for each caliber you shoot to the range?
Yes because I have my own range, autism boxes are not worth it if you reload in bulk of thousands of rounds.
>drinking while reloading
Thats a good way to die user
I know that water is hard shit
I have a super poorfag setup if you want any advice on how to do it for cheap. I started with a lee loader and after maybe 1000 rounds I had a primer go off in my hand while seating it. Fuck the lee loader, I will always tell anons that and I'm sorry you fell for it. Moving to a cheap single stage is a night and day difference and on the bright side, you will appreciate it that much more when you start at the bottom.
I tried that with a semi auto and the gun wouldn't cycle. It went bang and jumped a little, but the brass stayed in the chamber.
>smirnoff ice and energy drinks
Only the hard stuff
This.
are you a grill
Nope
This questions belongs more on QTDDTOT but I figured you guys would know more about this stuff:
When manufacturing or reloading ammo, why don't they compress it? All the videos I've seen they just pour the appropriate amount of gunpowder in, why not give a good push and compressing with say, a hydraulic plunger? Would eliminate airgaps, make it burn faster and make cartridges shorter, doesn't seem like there'd be any disadvantages here
Compressed charges have exponentially higher pressures than uncompressed charges, and you can get a dangerous spike in chamber pressure.
>I had a primer go off in my hand while seating it
that sounds unpleasant. but also like a freak occurrence. I've never had a problem with my lee classic.
magnum primers
yay or nay?
I use them because I had a few thousand of them given to me, but I am loading minimum suggested charge on that rifle. No problems for me, no excessive pressure signs. I hear people say not to use them unless you are firing a large case with more than 60 grains of powder required, or a magnum caliber. meh
It wasn't that bad but it could have been. It only happened the one time but it was enough. It didn't break the skin but it kind of halfway cut me, ya know when your skin is sort of peeled but not totally through so you don't bleed? If I was holding it differently it could have done more.
The real problem is having 99 primed rounds.
So I just bought a bunch of reloading shit yesterday and today. I know the sizing die has a little dick thing that pops out the primer from spent brass, but can I use that without cleaning the brass first? Or will it fuck up the die somehow?
The cleanliness of your brass doesn't mean anything for the depriming pin. dirty brass will, over time, scratch the inside of the die, which will then scratch the case.
It takes a lot of time, but if you don't want to buy a cleaner of some sort you can use an old shirt and some oil. It doesn't get them shiny but it gets them usable.
