China installed missile systems on strategic Spratly Islands

cnbc.com/2018/05/02/china-added-missile-systems-on-spratly-islands-in-south-china-sea.html

>China has installed anti-ship cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems on three of its fortified outposts in the South China Sea, sources tell CNBC.
>By all accounts, the new coastal defense systems are a significant addition to Beijing's military portfolio in one of the most contested regions in the world.

>The land-based anti-ship cruise missiles, designated as YJ-12B, allow China to strike surface vessels within 295 nautical miles of the reefs. Meanwhile, the long-range surface-to-air missiles designated as HQ-9B, have an expected range of targeting aircraft, drones and cruise missiles within 160 nautical miles.

It's over?

Time for Tenno Hekai Banzai 2 Anime Edition

landbased systems in the middle of the ocean enjoy many advantages but also weaknesses.

A quick infiltration of special forces delivered by subs should be able to handily silence those launchers.

Honestly probably wouldn't even take that. Saturation of air defense with stealth aircraft wouldn't even take much. And with a 295NM radius, a CBG wouldn't have much trouble at all

>a fucking missile system on disputed land
>the gubberment says nothing about this
I bet the cunts will keep sucking the china cock while saying everything is fine.
I want out of this socialist hellhole.

looks like the ground based YJ-12B indeed has a longer range than the air launched one.

probably due to the booster.

Why not just tomahawk every Chink base in the SCS? They're going to be a serious problem in 10 or so years, might as well get things over with before they can build up their military more.

Yes indeed.

You wouldn't even need a carrier, just a wing or two of B2's and/or B1's. The B2's can carry 16 JASSM's each, and the B1's can carry 24. Couple this with EW and decoys, and the defenses on the island don't stand a chance. It would take one, possibly two waves to annihilate everything of use on the island.

Also, because it's an island, there is a limit to how many missiles and launchers it has to begin with and how quickly it can replace those which have been expended or destroyed, particularly because we would be able to potentially intercept any such efforts, whether they came by air or sea. So in the long run, they're fucked no matter what happens. It seems to me that these islands are just a way for China to look badass for a minute and set up a lot of legitimately useful (in peacetime) radar/ELINT kinda shit all over the south china sea. I don't think they really envision these islands as being anything other than a speedbump in a real war.

No, we must beat them at full power.

Guess I can't argue with those dubs.

Implessive, my fellow white posters. Maybe America should just give up and accept the Chinese supremacy. I'm white btw.

Before the US & allies can do anything about this they have to take a hit otherwise public opinion won't be on their side.

>get constantly BTFO by china

What would stop the US from just magdumping a few destroyers worth of Tomahawks on them? I'm pretty sure they can be launched from way outside a 295 mile range. I seriously doubt that the air defenses can deal with that kind of bombardment and the US has missiles to burn, not to mention a well-developed SEAD doctrine.

JUST LIKE THIS ONE TIME IN CALL OF DUTY

Nothing, I guess. It doesn't seem like anything China has been putting on their islands is truly threatening.

Because the whole situation is laughable. The US calls them FONOPS patrols to suggest those are international waters but they aren't. The SCS have a dozen overlapping claims from different countries. Despite the US saying it's their right to navigation under UNCLOS, it's not a right under UNCLOS to sail warships anywhere, else the Russian navy could park surface combatants off the US cosat. And UNCLOS, which the US has not even ratified, has not issued any ruling on the SCS except that China has no claim on the nine dash line. China and Taiwan have rejected this claim. And it's hilarious diplomatically that the US tries to use this international ruling as the US routinely flouts international law, like Nicaragua vs US. It's laughable when the US says its doing FONOP to support international law.

So if the US would attack Chinese based they'd be, in the eyes of a dozen Asian nations, conducting a militiary operation in their waters or SEZs. Over a few islands which, internationally, is not specifically owned by anyone. And since its not owned by anyone its difficult to say who's the victim of an invasion.

Literally why would they need one, when they already bought out the Flip Government with Monkey-in-Chief.

You are really simplifying an attack here. Also some of this islands are pretty fucking big. They definitely have more capacity than us ships.

Or you could obliterate these small man made islands with over whelming firepower without fear of collateral damage to non combatants.

>Be you
>Laugh at your own post
>Get zero replies.

>be (you)
>reply to me
>invalidate your own post
What did you mean by that?

>Chinese fortifying islands in/around pacific
It is only a matter of time before they repeat the mistakes Japan made like 80 years ago and get rolled over. China sucks at war, has sucked at war for thousands of years, and no amount of stolen tech will make them better at it.

>stationary defense gets fucked by stand off ranged missiles

What year is it?

>china installs missiles on artificial islands

WE FUCKING KNOW THAT SINCE 2016
but then again the propaganda machine needs fear to keep the populace at bay

>missiles fired from platforms with limited loads somehow has a greater range than land based missiles

>people going crazy over china installing military hardware in south china sea
>implying our military has enough hardware to counter or at least deter the chinese
Hell. Even the vietgooks have more hardware than my country and can actually fight and even beaten the chinese before. While at our situation any conflict with china will be futile and the only option to avoid war is to play nice with china and balance between the warmongering americans and greedy chinese since you are an irrelevant country.
Damn. Our politicians should reduce their pandering to the lazy poor and ungratrful college students and start spending more for the military budget so at least we can project.

>else the Russian navy could park surface combatants off the US cosat.
They could, however in an unrelated deal the former USSR and USA had a deal in which the USSR didn't put it's ships too close or move them in aggressive ways that might trigger an accidental war. This has carried forward and Russia doesn't move warships in too close, and the USA don't either.

You're probably a guy, but i still want to fucking marry you.

Those dozen Asian nations would be glad that the number 1 threat to their claims got blasted off those fake islands
