Good bolt-action rifles

Does anyone have any good bolt-action recommendations? Other than moist nugget, I need a rifle that isn't a fucking meme.

Budget and intended use plz?
What's local ammo availablility like?
Optics or irons? Both?

>implying the nugget is good
Any of the $300 bolts you see on the wall at your local LGS

I have a Thompson center 30-06 I really like for shooting deer.

Other than that all of my bolts are milsurps

I have a pair of T/C compasses I for $180 each
Accurate and cheap. Work just fine

Anything is fine, but I'm in a budget of $500

savage axis ii is a good place to start
browning x-bolt if you arent a poorfag

Yeah I think mine is the venture.

I got it for cheap as well. Accurate and the synthetic stock is great in the woods during bad weather

do people still shoot 30-06 when .308 exists?

Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 swede. I have one and it's a one hole shooter at 100 meters.

Yes

Yes. Same bullet. Reloading from mild to wild.

An old Ruger M77 from your local LGS or pawn isn't a bad choice.

No bullshit, a mossberg night train in .308.

>$500 budget
My cheap .308 durr setup would work:
A T/C compass
>$200
Vortex Crossfire 2 3-9x scope
>$130
Low Weaver 49040 rings
>$15
Butler Creek Padded Quick Carry sling
>$20
There's even enough left over to buy ammo, or even a Lee Loader + powder + primers + bullets + mallet and try rolling your own

I'm this guy, here is my mossberg atr100 setup chambered in .308
Gun-120 used on armslist (they're like 200 new so still cheap as fuck)
Scope- insert any 3-9x this one is a cheap ass bushnell
Bipod- 25 bucks on amazon
Sling- 4 dollars on wish.com
Butt bag- 5 dollars on wish.com
Makes a great scout sniper setup. Add your own spray paint. I've killed 3 deer and 2 black bear with this gun, so you could easily drop men at 800 or 900 yards with no problem.

Desu, your front scope ring placement gave me cancer

It's so if the front of the scope takes a bash on a tree or a rock or the side of my truck the scope will bounce backwards into the rear rings when the front rings fail.

Also I dont even really use this gun in the field anymore, since i built my ar10.

any savage in 270
300 bucks new

Thanks guys.

Going to the range after, maybe my aim won't be shit. On another note, any advice for aiming a rifle? Haven't used anything but a pistol.

Oh jesus we just gave actual advice to someone with down syndrome.

"Hey guys, what car should I get? Looking at ferraris and lambos"
"Oh by the way I'm 7 and dont have a license or have ever driven before"

It's more about getting a bent tube more easily because of the long arm the objective bell has to crank against the front ring acting as a fulcrum

Its .308 lol

Just focus on fundamentals
Breathe
Relax
Aim
Squeeze
Remeber to follow through

>implying recoil will bend the tube
Doesn't matter if it's on an airsoft gun. The further the scope tube cantilevers past the rings, the easier it is to bend the tube if dropped or bumped

How do you shoot 900 yards with a duplex sub$100 skope

>tfw want to get a modern boltgun so I can leave my milsurps alone
>all modern boltguns are OPTICS READY with no irons

Thanks man
On another note, can someone give me a consensus on the Mosin? I've had roughly equal numbers of people tell me its trash/best gun.

It's a gun. If you got one with good rifling and bore when they were cheap they were an amazing value. Now, they're expensive, ugly and have a very... rudimentary action compared to anything else. Similar in price to modern budget bolt action rifles that have superior performance and features.

The hex receivers are better quality. They're not really worth purchasing now.

If you buy one for $150, it's worth every cent.

It's inaccurate, sluggish, shoddily made, but damned if it doesn't have some very special charm about it. It's the Trabant of small arms.
