Fayettenam native here. Every decent city is on the coast, every city inland is trash- either ghetto in the 910/191 or liberal shitholes in 336. Out west is where college students and the weirder transplant liberals do shitloads of drugs while the natives live their admirable rural lives. Avoid Durham, Lumberton, Greenville and Jacksonville AT ALL COSTS. Everyone in Sanford is Mexican. Asheville isn't the south. There is nothing to do in Boone other than drugs, but the mountains around there are pretty sweet. Greensboro is great if you're gay and/or liberal. FUCK Winston. Raleigh is kinda lame but the area around it is quite pretty in the fall. I like Morehead city but that's for nostalgic reasons. Charlotte traffic is the stuff of nightmares, don't even get near their suburbs unless you want to be stuck in it. Albemarle is kinda neat.

Southern Pines is beautiful, as are the rest of the sandhills so long as you avoid Fayetteville.

Wilmington and New Bern are our finest cities and I would recommend you go there if you must go somewhere in NC.
