I work as a jailer, had to get my firearms cert so I could do transports to the state prison. I completeley suck with a pistol so I got all nervouse because the qual was "100% hit or fail." Turns out the target was a man sized sillouhette at 5, 10, 15, and 20 yards and you just had to hit it anywhere. I outshot most of the actual cops on the range.
like 99% of what cops do is talk people into getting into thier car. Most of the cops I know dont go shooting outside of required training which is usually only twice a year.

you dont even know. We had a guy in our jail who was 300 pounds, had an IQ of 60, was LITERALLY CLINICALLY DIAGNOSED AS AUTISTIC, and practically illiterate. We tried to get rid of him from day 1 and it took a year, even then we didnt fire him, he just got transferred to another jail.
Our union rules state that a person must have 3 verbal warning, 3 written reprimands within a 4 month period. That means they can fuck up 6 times in a row and if the 6th was on month 5 the count starts over again.
A list of things he fucked up and magically didnt get fired for:
>Eating inmates comissary orders
>accidentally releasing the wrong inmate
>leaving a guy in an empty holding cell with no food for 24 hours.
>leaving 2 knives laying on a table in a common area (an inmate thought it was a trick and was the one who handed them to me)
>walking into our maximum security wing with a personal firearm from home when he was not qualified to carry on duty
>falling asleep on duty. routineley.
>threating to kick another employees ass for reporting him falling asleep, starting a fight with said employee, then getting his ass kicked. (she is a 50 year old woman btw)
>showing up an hour and a half late. consistently throughout his employment.
>leaving an hour early. consistently throughout his employment.
>was talked into allowing an inmate to dress in civilian clothes and then escorted him to a bank so that said inmate could withdraw money for his comissary account.
The guy literally couldn't be fired. he'd rack up his 5 warnings, pull it together just long enough to get to month 5, then do it all over again.

UXO is overrated. If hitting the ground at the speed of sound didnt set it off walking past it wont either. One night in 29 palms I was walking to the piss area to piss and tripped over a rock. I got pissed off and kicked it out of the way, hurt my foot, fucker weighed like 50 pounds. Next morning was walking along the same path and saw that the "rock" I had kicked was a live 155 shell that had failed to detonate.
In any case you get so used to stepping over and around UXO that you quit noticing it after a while.
