Hear me out

I've always like the look of wooden stocks on AR's (bubba yes) but i always see them on these tacticool rifles and it ruins it
So, how about one of these wooden stocks with an M16A1 upper/lower along with a 2 piece carbine length handguard like an AK or SKS, 16 in. barrel and 20 round steel mags?

You mean like this?

Kind of, except the stock isn't the same, no pistol grip and a hand guard that isn't just a standard M16 hand guard that is wood, but more something like this

Theres these guys out in Vegas, they have this group that started out in Cali. I think you would like them.

The problem is the buffer assembly requiring a straight bore. If someone got a little crafty and figured out how to manufacture a buffer and spring that would work with that curvature, they'd make a fortune opening up completely new possibilities for what an AR stock can be

Someone did in fact do that, but it never really caught on.

How about a some kind of vector recoil system in the stock? some kind of fuckery where say a part of the bolt can pivot down?

>an ak handguard
Sounds like you need to get into woodcarving my man

Probably not marketed properly. I was dying to make an AR pistol like pic related but i just wanted that classic HK style stock for it. It was impossible to find anything similar. so i ultimately decided to spend $500 extra dollars to get an MKE MP5 clone.
The problem with changing the recoil system that dramatically is that no one would want to spend the money or time learning a complete new system. For something like this to be successful it would have to use standard AR parts or at the very least a modified spring and buffer.

I replied before i watched your gif. This is what i was thinking of ways to accomplish, except the buffer would pivot, not the bolt. It cant be that difficult to make happen.

Oh. Here's pic related.

lr300s were insanely expensive and ahead of their time. we talking about $2200-2500 in the era of $350 aks. the rerelease by para was horribly managed
if you just wanted a sidefolder this exists

Do you people just not know how a search engine works?

Or are you all trolling?

OP's pic is a functioning gun.
It uses a rat tail system into a drilled vintage Remington 870 stock (either a TB or a TC graded wood).

Old news.
Its just that nobody likes it.
One of the benefits of the AR platform is the linear recoil.
This style handles like ass.

Not gonna lie. I fucking want one so bad and I don't live in a cucked state. What stops me is the price. Why would I pay more for a cucked rifle when I can get a better AR even cheaper? Some Turkish factory is going realize there are people like me and the commiefornians out there.

are you suggesting that the recoil of .223 is too much to handle without the ARs linear design?

I own one. It handles great

Buy the lower
If you already have an ar or parts shove whatever caliber bolt into its bcg and plop an upper on it and you got a rifle

Takes 1100 remington stocks. Get a stripped wood one and file out to fit it properly and gucci swags the game

So, wood A2/CAR handguards?

How did this work? Something like the buffer being moved to the front to "pull" the bolt back into battery instead of it "pushing" from behind?

Peak W I S H I N G F O R A N U C L E A R W I N T E R

The gas key is extended and the return spring goes around it inside the handguard.

Ops gun is different from the scr.
Its a jessie james vaporware costs $5000 gun.

utterly shit taste

On that note, I'm thinking about building a rifle inspired by this.

>BCM grip instead of wood
>better looking rail
>cantilever scope mount

I could do it pretty cheap too. I just sold my A2 upper so I have a lower, BCG and CH ready to go. RRA has a 20% off sale out of pocket cost for everything except the rail, bipod, and scope would be just over $300.

Not sure what rail to use though.
