I don't know what is legal in upside down land.
Can you have semi automatics? Do you have magazine limits?

Ruger 10/22 is pretty much the gold standard on 22 rifles but there's lots of other cool shit out there. Knowing what your restrictions are would help

Pretty sure we are limited to bolt action and 5round mags.

Know if lever action is allowed?

CZ 455 FS.

So sexy.

Yeah, lever action is fine.

CZ455

I am not being a fuckhead, but the best target rifle you are gonna get in Australia would probably be a single action break barrel you make yourself, but put really nice sights on. Also it will give you experience in making guns. eventually you will sell them to your rich and powerful, and sell biker gangs machine guns for even more money.

I thought you weren't being a fuckhead?

I'm sure you can get a Ruger American .22LR rimfire. I put a 4-14x R-Grid primary arms scope on mine, and it's literally my favorite gun to shoot despite owning a dozen handguns, ARs, AKs, and BRs

>I am not being a fuckhead, but instead of answering the question, I'm going to give you useless advice!
He can't readily go target shooting with an illegal gun. Fuckhead.

Shitty picture, but they were $200 from PSA. Gave my dad one for his birthday and kept the other

10/22 Takedown with the Magpul Backpacker stock. You can toss it into a backpack and it barely weighs anything.

I've got two (one in the magpul stock pictured) and prefer the Ruger American

Man there's a whole heap of options there even with the restrictions we have. Cost is going to be the biggest indicator of a quality gun. I would expect to pay at least $500+ for anything decent but having said that, a .22LR is very ammo sensitive, sometimes you can get a cheap gun shooting very well if you find an ammo it loves.

Anyway, some good ones to look for off the top of my head would be
Brno No 2/ CZ 452. Pretty much the equivalent of the 10/22 in Australia, as in everyone has one.
Lithgow LA101, if you want new, Australian made.

Best .223, close enuff aye?

CZ makes some absolutely fantastic rifles for reasonable prices. I'd consider all the options but compare to CZ as a kind of standard.

Good luck and godspeed from the land of freedom

Yes cz is the best

Op, get a Sig Mosquito. It's a fantastic little .22 that you can rapid fire with cheap ammo. Plus it's easy as fuck to clean and maintain.

No cz best

But why user?

Get an ar7, you can switch the 8round mag for a 5 round one.

Fuck, nevermind, it's cat d. Look into a steyr zephyr ii. 5rd, .22, bolt action. It's stupid expensive tho.

Rule #1: nevar start a "what gun can I get in Ausfalia", without clarifying your state. The rules are clear, but different. The only thing they do have in common, is that they suck.

does it have to be .22? can you go for any other rimfire like 17hmr?

because he's from Australia. read up on their laws or fuck off with your reqs.

Could you get a bolt action shotgun? I see your laws restrict pump, semi auto, and lever, but not bolt. You can shoot slugs out of them y'know

What's the fucking point if we can't ever use the guns for self-defence? I've had a look at the laws and we more or less have to keep the things locked up in a gubmint-approved safe for the entire year

Look at how many mass shootings we've had amerifat. We settle shit like men, with bats and dogs.

What's the advantage?
Thanks for the input man.

>implying I'm american
I'm in ACT but I can't see the point considering how badly the feds have us by the balls for gun ownership

Well, it's of higher velocity, which means it can take down somewhat bigger game. Not much, mind you, it's actually not a 5mm round but 4.5. However it also offers more variety in ammo types. Where you can really only get .22 in round nose and hollow point (and tracers if you look really hard and want to pay out the nose), you can get .17 in plastic-tipped, hollow point, soft point, and FMJ. While .17 rifles cost about the same the downside to .17 the cost of ammo, more expensive than .22. Going by American prices, on bulkammo, it's 4$ a box of 50 for .22, vs 12.50$ a box of FMJ .17. But then again, if you're just target shooting, then .22 is perfectly fine, now that I think about it. Nevermind, I retract my suggestion.
