0311.

If you ain't infantry you ain't shit

Do I join Air Force for Air Traffic Control or Army National Guard for ATC? I'm leaning more towards NG for Warrant Officer opportunities.

Attached: 3701538_orig.jpg (952x485, 190K)

So what do I just straight up tell my recruitment officer that I want to be a sniper and then it happens for me?

yes, tell him your COD k/d too

he makes fun of you when you leave

just join infantry and sign up for Sniper School

It was great in WaW but I just can’t get into anything newer than Black Ops

thoughts on 2nd Infantry and 101st Airborne?

Faggots.

Join the marine corp

If I went to a recruiter and was completely honest about everything a year or two ago how fucked am I if I went to another one in a year or so?
I didn't know about the whole "its ok to lie thing" and I didn't think Id go to college at the time, but im like a year out from getting my degree and looking hard at OCS right now.

>t.poolee faggot

So how is the recruiting environment right now? I was DQed for some stuff I did as a juvenile and was wondering if the current buildup might hhave changed things?

Bewbs for attention

Attached: 1525421564860.gif (352x265, 991K)

>marine corp
no thanks

Just do 0311 like a man it’s more fun

AF air traffic control has one of the highest suicide rates so have fun with that

>So how is the recruiting environment right now?
depends on the branch, Army can't even reach its recruiting quota

what stuff specifically?
if you're a felon you're screwed.

wew. look at this titcow.

Alright fags I’m going to infantry OSUT in a few months, what should I expect? Anything new going on?

Got any tips?

Attached: 50EA495D-A2C1-4759-BD01-18B6DB47CEF1.jpg (480x336, 28K)

If you lie and they do a background check on you, it's not only disqualifying, but also criminal charges.

Thats the branch I was aiming for. I just have the odds stacked against me. When I was 15 I dun goofed and got charged with a bunch of shit. I didnt even go infront of a judge but admitted guilt in the report so I am DQed.
It was and I know the military doesnt distinguish between juvenile and adult felonies I just thought maybe I could check. As much as it stings sometime I am at peace with never being able to join.

What if all I told them was minor medical stuff (scoliosis, broken wrist, eyeglasses, and like 3 months of medication for depression a while back?)

>3 months of medication for depression you fucked up the minute you said that

the rule is, if they can't find it from a physical exam and you never had tricare, it never happened. don't lie about glasses, they don't care as long as your eyesight corrects to 20/20 anyway, but shut up about the rest of that crap.

So I completely fucked for ever applying to the military?

>infantry

Yes. Expect to be surrounded by Manchildren who take pride in the fact that they are nothing more than expendable bait. You will not learn a single thing in the infantry that you will be able to use when you get out(more than likely you'll finish your first contract and realize you'll be a bum if you leave so you'll re-up)

The only thing that going infantry will give you is being treated like a baby, bad knees/back, and generally looked down upon as the scum you are.

Your instructors will tell you it's the best job in the army. They will tell you it's for the dude on your left and right. For "brotherhood". But commaderie won't pay the bills. While you're in the field, just know that some dude intel or admin guy is banging your GF. And you for sure won't deploy nowadays and live out the "Saving Pvt Ryan" fantasy you dreamt up. Nope you'll be surrounded by trash who constantly fondle each other, get trashy tattoos, marry strippers. I just hope you'll be smart enough to use your TA and leave and use your GI bill. You'll look back at your time in and realize what a piece of shit you were.

Will an atypical heart beat disqualify me or are the examiners really that shitty

But no in the legal since I am not a felon so I can atleast keep commando larping lol

Attached: 1524861633677.gif (138x207, 1.3M)

>just join infantry and sign up for Sniper School
>sign up
but that's not how it work

have your parents EVER had tricare?
if not, lie and never tell anyone about it.

Is it true that if you're gay and in the navy the other sailors will smell your scent and drag you in the engine room and viciously pound your boi pucci? Asking for a friend

>junior enlisted
Gross

Not sure how long it'll last, but if you talk to a recruiter now, they'll keep you up to date on the status of things. Looks like it's quite significant seeing as how I've heard ROTC folks are being denied SWO to go NFO, which is unheard of.
You will find out at MEPS if you're good to go or not. If you pass, the med shit gets put in your OCS packet and sent to the board. After OCS board gives you the PROREC. Once the FINSEL gets processed you finally sign your contract and get sworn in enlisted E-5 and head off to OCS.

gas yourself

Was your stepdad in the infantry when he banged your mom and beat you

depends, maybe, maybe not. if one of the examiners doesn't like what they hear, they may send you out to get a EKG done, and if that happens you are toast. remember, cry "I didn't know I had a heart problem!" over and over.

Thanks for the pasta

when you're done with AIT volunteer for sniper school

Tried to pass a Block test for my AFSC and failed. The Brass at the schoolhouse claims I didn’t try, I very much did. What are the chances I’ll get to reclass when I speak to the commander tomorrow?

Attached: 57284C5D-BBF7-47F8-BD3D-41E64BAC1DF7.jpg (520x390, 53K)

>when you're done with AIT volunteer for sniper school
again, that's not how it works
>t.former 11B

Not him, what's this "NFO Drought"? Is Big Navy nixing the pilot/fo gravy train that's been running for a few years now?

Nice photoshopped pic.

No, no one in my family has ever been in the military. Only people that I told was that one recruiter a couple years ago and my parents. Not even my closest friends know the details.

then tell us how it works

alright. from now on it never happened. don't mention it to anyone ever, don't stand up during the moment of truth, don't say jack to anyone. you'll be good.

No. Just telling it like it is.

I hate seeing young people waste their lives in that branch.

>branch

I don’t have a gf and j want to do something other than sit in an office

Why would I join to become some admin faggot when I can get a comfy job without all the regs in the civilian job market?

So, next time I sit down with a recruiter say I've never been on the happy pill train? what if they pull the file from that recruiter, just double down and say it must be wrong?

sniper school is a DA school, you don't just volunteer and get to go.
>your unit is allocated a seat at sniper school
>the cost of someone going to sniper school comes out of your units yearly budget
>they get pissy if you fail or quit
>someone withing the unit is identified as a good candidate for sniper school
>usually someone already in a sniper platoon
>they are then sent to sniper school
>pass or fail
you don't just raise your hand at the end of AIT and say "I want to go to sniper school" and they send you across Ft Benning to sniper school.

>you don't just raise your hand at the end of AIT and say "I want to go to sniper school"
Does Air Assault work this way too?

>pull that file
did you go to meps with the last recruiter? how long ago was it?

I have scoliosis, but it doesn’t require surgery and doesn’t cause any pain. Would I be disqualified for it? I’m pretty sure I can’t lie about it since its pretty noticeable if examined.

Are squad marksmen a thing in the army? What are they equipped with?

again, someone has to pay for it, there are only so many seats each year for any given school like Air Assault, and everyone wants to go to a cool school. If your unit gets a school slot, it will come down to the good ol'boy network to determine who gets to go. I was in Mech Infantry units my entire enlistment, IF we got a slot to Ranger school, you better believe the only people who were considered for it were the Lts and Cpts who didn't have their tab, because they needed it for "career progression"

Nope, never been to MEPs, I inadvertently went to a enlisted recruiter instead of one that deals with officer stuff. It was about a year ago and I dont plant on going back for about another year or so.

I'm 30 with a meme bachelors degree from a state university. What are my odds of becoming an officer in any branch? I got a 97 on my ASVAB way back when, and I'm in decent shape.

Attached: 1521940789943.png (382x597, 237K)

pretty decent, do it for 4 years, get out and have that on your resume, everyone will want to hire you

So if was to join the NG and my unit was an airborne does that guarantee airborne in my contract?

Attached: Zoids.jpg (1920x1079, 473K)

you're good.

>retard

That's what I thought as well. Then eventually you grow up, and realize you literally wasted so much time doing fuck-all. Like literally what was the point? The Army, especially infantry is filled with the lowest of the low. Filled with alcoholics, losers, stuck in adolescence. They will be those vets when they eventually get med-boarded and abuse the VA like the scum fucks they are, wearing the grunt style t-shirt, cargo pants and base ball cap constantly talking about their time in. Never living past that. Never becoming anything else in there life. I honestly look down upon them. No different from some ghetto gangbanger, touting their false sense of honor and affiliation, when in reality they really are just sacks of shit. Their contributions won't be remembered in a century, hell I doubt in a decade.
But hey, you'll learn the hard way.

>that 30 year old at MEPS with an 18x contract

Attached: 1525874801761.png (380x349, 77K)

Holy shit bud are you okay?

You must’ve had a really bad expierience with the infantry or someone in it. You seem very spiteful.

if you join a unit that is on jump status, then you would go to jump school after AIT, assuming they have their ducks in a row. If you are thinking of joining a NG unit that is airborne, don't let them tell you "we'll send you to jump school some other time", in the Army, "some other time" means never
I was in the reserves for a few years and we shared a building with a PSYOPS HHC. They all wore a airborne tab, almost none of them had their jump wings.

I had an OK experience. Just saying there is more to life than attempting to play cowboy.

at least i got to kill muslims. Why join the military to do anything else?

So make sure I have airborne in my contract. Got it.

How hard is it to go from enlisted to officer?

exactly

>enlist
>finish contract
>get out
>go to college
>decide after you graduate you haven't been abused enough
>apply for OCS
>become that officer that reminds everyone he is prior enlisted

Harder than they make it out to be, if someone's trying to sell you on the "if you go enlisted before officer you'll be more respected" meme don't fall for it

I've never cared for mustangs for partly the reasons you allude to here, they're often meaner/harsher for no reason than other officers and then always fall back on the "I was prior enlisted so I know what it's like!!" mantra

No new infantryman coming in today is going to experience that.

Basically, the navy is so thirsty for NFO's that it's super easy to get in right now. The OCS Aviation board used to let people apply as Pilot, Pilot/NFO, or NFO. Now it's just Pilot/NFO or NFO, so it doesn't matter if you want pilot only, you can be told to go NFO. NFO's can get away with way more than they should just because they're in such high demand. NFO's a sweet gig tho (it just happens to be overshadowed by pilot).

had a prior enlisted CO when I was Infantry, he used to call all three PLs and the XO into his office for OPD. What he would do was sit behind his desk and smoke them in his office for an hour or untill he got bored.
Had another prior enlisted CO on a deployment to Kosovo, he racked up 3 letters of reprimand in our 6 months over there. Met a Civ contractor who was a PL in the 82nd with him. Told me he was relieved of his platoon for loosing a PLGR and NVGs

Depends on the job you got. If it’s a high asvab score type job, you’re fucked.

so what is the diff between a pilot and a NFO? Are NFOs like the guy that rides in the back of a Hawkeye staring at the radar screen?

Good. Don’t let them trick you into going enlisted first, it’s a pain in the ass to cross over even with qualifications.

They sound like retards

not bad

Pilot - Maverick
NFO - Goose

Yes it is....

You literally put a packet in for it.

Please dont respond anymore about shit you dont know anything about.

>not bad
anyone that enlists at 30 has a problem. lost his job, got a divorce, something. the 18X doesn't mean shit, it means he meets min reqs for it.

>Please dont respond anymore about shit you dont know anything about.
take your own advice

Not how it works at my command per se, when our command gets sniper school slots they look at everyone's rifle quals and contact people who are the most qualified

All schools work like that faggot. Airborne, air assault, everything.

If a slots open when you put your packet in, and you qualify, you go.

Same shit applies for reclassing as well.

>anyone that enlists at 30 has a problem. lost his job, got a divorce, something
this isnt true youre assuming and projecting
>the 18X doesn't mean shit, it means he meets min reqs for it.
I dont even get what youre trying to say
Leave the thinking and posting to the veterans non serve

How fit should I be before signing up for 0311? Any specifics that can help, besides running?

Not for you there isn't, it seems. That's a lot of writing for things you don't care about

if you can finish bootcamp, which everyone does, youll be fine for 0311. youll probably leave bootcamp in worse shape than when you showed up if you have done any kind of regular pt routine before hand

No, you

Are you scared of your command or something, all you need to do if there is something you want, is go up to your psg or pl depending on how your unit works, and say, sarnt or sir i wanna go to airborne/air assault/sniper school/dm school, what do i need to do to put a packet in? He then either tells you okie dokie, nothing available, or heres what you need to do. If he says nothing available, ask how often they get slots and how to get in the running to be considered for that particular unit.

Worst case if no one is helpful, you contact the school house or branch manager and ask if there are any slots available and how to go about putting a packet in.

Pro tip, never rely on anyone in your chain of command to get you what you want.

Now, there are some factors that will prevent you from getting what you want, MOS, type of unit, and how much of a dirtbag you are. If youre not in a unit that needs those specialties, youre more than likely not gonna get it. In that case, you wait until its time to switch units and start throwing your packets in on your way out.

Thank you user. I was going to get to 1/2/3/4 as well as reach the OCS running and pull up standards just to set myself apart anyway.

>never served
Ok

Attached: IMG_20180520_184119695.jpg (4160x3120, 3.65M)

get in as good of shape as you can to get a good base of strength. but as far a actual pt at bootcamp its pretty underwhelming. that sounds like a good plan going forward

Only one you cant join is usmc.

Also you can pretty much get in without a hitch as long as theres nothing physically or historically wrong with you.

350F here, bored as fuck, ama for next few hours.

do you actually "develop intelligence" like you job description says, or do you just chill in the S2 shop?

What's it like being a pickup truck

If you is infantry you is sheeeet
