Press charges. It's what the legal system is for. Accidents happen and all but if the guy can't unload his gun to clean it he probably deserves some kind of record of doing that. At most there is probably just some laws about firing in the city limits. He probably just costed you the apartment deposit. He's really not going to get in much trouble over it. OP here, i have come to the same conclusion. I called te cop back and said I'm going to press charges. The cunt made a big deal about my fiance saying no at first and said the defense lawyer would use it against us but just looking at the bullet path there's no fucking way he's getting away with this. At least i hope. Cop said three would be a court date. I've never been to court, do i need a lawyer in this situation?

I don't know how notarizing a thing works in your state, but in mine you can both walk into a public building and have a thing witnessed by a public official and stamped. I'd find a lawyer if I were you, they probably run as much as the damages and he's liable for a lot more than that. Lawyer might even get re-reimbursed by the guy from a court order if it goes that far.

I dont see any issue with mandatory first time classes. Its not really a registry, since it doesn't need to be connected with firearms at all. You go to a class and get given a card that shows you have completed the course, you present that at your LGS and they see you're legit and sell you whatever. All enforcement done purely on the vendor level, the state has minimal involvement (only really funding the classes and standardizing the tests/cards) and lacks the information to connect you with any purchases.

I called the cops and they checked my house ,then used common sense to go to the apartment behind mine and asked. he said it was true and that he was trying to find us (which cant be true because he was in his apt when they came). They tried to push my fiance into saying whether or not she wanted to press charges and she wanted to talk to me first but couldn't (i was at work) so she ended up saying no. after we talked we called them back.

The same thing is happening in my town. Police are letting people break the law because they don't want to actually come out and enforce the law and it helps keep the stats low. First time classes to purchase is an abomination. The laws are already set up in a majority of places that most illegal gun uses are by people that criminally obtained them. The rules are already set so school kids can't get them. Guess what happens there, it isn't lawful conduct. Land lords can already hamper acquisition to a level that's unacceptable.
