Why’d you create a new thread old one is still alive fag

Because the old one was past bump limit on page 9 and that's why it disappeared 20 minutes after you asked, you dumbass.

This is one of the next knives that I'm considering. It's a tossup between this and the Ontario SP10 and the Condor Undertaker. The SP10 is the least expensive but judging from my previous experiences with Ontario it'll be of good quality. The Undertaker is likely to be similarly well built and comes with a better sheath but is significantly more expensive. The quillon dagger by Tod comes with a nice sheath but not a style I like and it's going to be the best built knife of the bunch but I'll have to wait a while for it.

Attached: Tod cutler 12th-17thC quillon_dagger.jpg (1024x768, 172K)

I'm considering pic related as something to hang on the wall and maybe cut small tree branches with when the bros come out for D&D, thoughts? I'm sure an antique would handle better but I don't want to fuck an antique up as I'm sure a bunch of drunk guys might do and $180 seems reasonable for a cutlass.

Nice. I've always disliked the disc but I'm all over the wave feature.

Any opinion on this knife? Costs 50€ and I cant find any negative discussion about it.

ehh asked about knife sharpening tips at the tail end of last thread.

im using waterstones and the material that came with them explicitly say to make sure theyre wet at all times and that they are more abrasive when wet.

>Recommending knifecenter and not bladeHQ
I would not recommend any particular retailer, they all have good deals depending on what you are looking for. CutleryShoppe, BladeHQ, KnifeCenter, Kult Of Athena, Amazon, Massdrop, ect... are all worth checking.

I like the design, I've yet to handle anything from Real Steel yet though. In general with all the newer Chines makers, it's best to watch/read some reviews first. While they are getting more consistant, it's not uncomon for a brand to do really well with one knife and fail with another model... Then again as is with some more established brands... *cough cough* Boker.

No, well not necessarily. Really it is to help clear the grit/metal dust and keep the stone from clogging up, also keeps dust down (a problem with dry stones like Diamond), makes for a less harsh noise, and lets the knife slide more smoothly allowing for better feed back.

Waterstones (and whetstones) raise a slurry while in use. A common myth is the slurry acts to remove material faster. This is not correct, slurrys actually slow down the stock removal more so they slightly round the shoulder and apex of the bevel... This is not much of a problem though for apex dulling if you go up to high enough grits.

The important part about free hand is keeping a consistent angle, understanding the concepts of burr to burr sharpening (as a beginner at lest), and using the right grits.

Disclaimer; Pic related done on my Wicked Edge set up, I'm not that good at free hand yet.

I have the Real Steel H6-S1 and I have no real complaints. It came hair shaving sharp too. I kind of want one of their fixed blade bushcraft knives.

Any canadafags here import chinkshit flipper knives after the CBSA ban? Wondering what the chances are of them getting stopped and seized.

I got a BK5 from Midway recently because it was on sale, it was much larger than I was expecting but also lighter than I would've thought.

Nice, I've wanted to pick up a BK for a while, although with it's shape and size, not sure if I would use it. The BK-15 is a really good size for general utility.

I've wanted a BK15 for a while but they stopped making them before I ever actually made my mind up on getting one. I tend to do that a lot, I spent so long thinking about those EGKH Afghanistan kukris that they doubled in price.

Guys, i’ve never had a bayonet in my life, yet, when i saw this beauty i immediately fell in love, put i’m worried about the price, its a costum Mauser 1908 bayonet, handle is made of bone and its about $120, is it worth the money?

Attached: CA142648-FBCF-45EE-B8F3-65DE2B123775.jpg (500x354, 20K)

3rd from the top is interesting but what's the bottom blade? I'm way into barongs.

Forged carbon steel, edge hardened blade, brass/AL hilt razor sharp, Teak sheath

Attached: xDqg4mV[3].jpg (640x480, 100K)

That's a Barang, a Malay Barong

I'd want some documentation to prove it's original

ok, gonna ask the seller, anything else i should look out for when buying knives or bayonets? i’m still a newfag

>Brazil
>Phone filename
lol
If you want it I'd say go for it although the first reply makes a good point.

Dang I was hoping it was production. There doesn't seem to be much by way of production barongs between CS's machete and BRKT's which I think is a little overpriced. Condor makes a nice one but I hate the handle.

ok, as i said i’m a newfag, put i want to be sure i’m buying something good and not just overpriced junk

>Dang I was hoping it was production. There doesn't seem to be much by way of production barongs between CS's machete and BRKT's which I think is a little overpriced. Condor makes a nice one but I hate the handle.

I hear you, but they are not hard to make.
this is a low carbon knife I picked-up almost 40 years ago, I polished it twice but it rusts while you look at it. Water Buff horn handle

Attached: ol2vozV[1].jpg (640x480, 78K)

do you have a detailed description of the blade and sheath? the condition of them looks worse than the hilt which leads me to believe it's a surplus blade/sheath w/a fancy handle stuck on it.

How does Jow Forums feel about Forged in Fire and Knife fight?

Attached: forged-in-fire-cutting-deeper.jpg (568x416, 51K)

So guys, I have a Kershaw Barricade. I love it but the blade is becoming a little bit loose, it wobbles from side to side a bit when locked out. It did this before so I just tightened the screws a bit which worked fine but it's loose again. Should I just loctite that bitch? If so what color/strength?

Attached: IMG_2996.jpg (1024x429, 74K)

>Should I just loctite that bitch? If so what color/strength?
yes, BLUE

never seen it

>Water Buff horn handle
Nice, looks very Flip.

As a rule bayonets these days are kind of overpriced, the golden age of getting bigass knives of reasonable quality in great condition for $30 is largely over. could be entirely right but if you like the handle it may still be worthwhile. Of course that's assuming it wasn't put together like crap, which isn't really something that people can easily tell from pictures. The method of construction on the custom bits seems like a bit more than what most people looking for a quick buck would do, make of that what you will.

Seconding blue loctite.

I use the lanskey sharpening system because i cant into angles

Something I didn't notice before is that the guard seems really thin. Not that it needs to be super thick on a knife but I do believe that my thinnest hand guards are around 3mm thick, that looks like 2. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

>Large but still of a reasonable length

Look at this Co. They are in India but produce some interesting stuff
windlass.com/product-category/swords-knives-daggers/knives/

ok, if i can’t get any proof of originality i’ll pass, it may be beautiful put i’m not going to spend that mutch money in a low quality bayonet

Windlass sells some excellent reproductions of fighting knives, daggers etc. for around the same price. They own Atlanta Cutlery and a couple other retailers, they are now a big name
and have been in business 75 years

First time poster,
Currently watching Forged in Fire.
Why do blades bend when tempered?

My head that on the inside of the bend is a softer metal and the outside is a harder metal

Depends on the blade, which episode are you watching, specifically what weapon?

This at 6-7 inches with a hand guard
Anyone know of anythnig simlair for cheap in a stainless steel?

Attached: spoon.jpg (1029x566, 42K)

S04E19, the one where they forge a Spadroon. The french dude ditched the blade bc the bending

>but they stopped making them before I ever actually made my mind up on getting one

man if this isn't the story of my fucking life.

My little metallurgy knowledge tells me that its probably due to uneven heating.

Well when you say tempering I assume you specifically mean quenching which causes rapid cooling and contraction of the steel, if some steel contracts more than other steel you get a curve. Some forging techniques make use of this to create a curved blade. AFAIK tempering, which as I understand it is akin to baking a blade, isn't likely to warp metal but I really don't know.

>fixed blade

Seems nice and all but can I baton it through a piece of petrified wood as thick as my thigh with literally no edge damage whatsoever? Because if not then it's a complete piece of shit.

Attached: kukri batoning.webm (640x480, 2.8M)

Pinoy Steel has a Malay parang in stock. It's got a plastic handle, which isn't very traditional, but makes sense in a jungle where wood can rot easily.

I hadn't thought to maybe just commission what I want from PS. I've been sending people that way for karambits for a while now.

Wicked Edge mostly... Would not recommend as a cost effective way of sharpening a few knives... Unless you feel like off setting the cost via a small sharpening side income like I did.

3rd on BLUE locktight.

Uneven heating, also the blade may have not been fully normalized before the tempering, also uneven cooling.

Attached: Brous Blades Sniper flowers 1.jpg (4032x3024, 2.56M)

I'm a total newfag when it comes to weapons, but in my aging I've become somewhat paranoid.
What would be a nice lightweight single blade pocket knife for self defense?
Needs to be lightweight, and can lock into position. I prefer something that is discrete since I live in the city.
Prefer if it has the following:
- quick deploy
- at most 5 inches in length when folded
- relatively cheap.
Ol'Reliable is still good, but its rather heavy and I literally just found it at a boyscout camp years ago.
I live in NH so I'm pretty sure law need not apply.

Prepare to be inundated with implications that nobody in human history has ever survived a knife fight because someone's wife's son's best friend's barber quoted a meme to them. Something like pic related is handy but your first defense really should be pepper spray + running.

Attached: Cold Steel Ti-lites.jpg (1590x1193, 721K)

What is the most rugged "survive a nuke being dropped on it" meme knife a man can buy? It should be able to withstand batoning and any level of abuse.

tl;dr looking for a knife that will be around long after I've passed.

>This shit hasn't worked for years
>It even got people b& for a while
>user thinks another user is samefagging for the sake of deriding his own machete

Pic related.

Attached: Minuteman knife.jpg (1075x806, 237K)

ooo I like the look of that.
>your first defense really should be pepper spray + running.
I agree, and it will probably be in my kart by the end of the day. I usually would chose a bluff/threat first in the heat of the moment though so a knife is more effective at that. At the very least its distraction that will last long enough to pull out pepper spray if I have it.

Also, just out of curiosity; are butterfly knives just memes? something about them seems incredibly unstable.
