Battle Rifle General - like /arg/ but no tripfags and less gay Edition
/brg/
How do you classify Battle Rifle? Something like assault rifle?
30 caliber, full size barrel (generally ~18"+), mag fed rifle
Feeds from a detachable box mag, forgot that one
Semi auto rifle in a large cartridge (.308, 30-06, 7.62x54r, equivalents) intended for use as a dmr or intermediate-long range engagement rifle with a magazine capacity over 10.
Type II or Type III FAL receiver?
Hey lads. Thinking of getting a norinco m14 clone, the M305, and I wanted to know if any of y'all have any experience. How much could I pick one up for here in America? What are they worth?
I want to put a 1-6x type optic on it to, probably a primary arms
>norinco
user, we need to talk...
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It's an m14 for a third of the price of a SA and from a company that wants to sell guns, not ban them.
That is cool as fuck what is it?
Nigger whats wrong with norinco?
The norinco version has really bad parkerizing and the bolt doesn't hold open. The build quality is going to be poor in comparison.
I think we have to expand the strictly ". 30 caliber" definition. And just say full size rifle round. Because there is a clear distinction between intermediate cartridges used in assault rifles and full size rifle rounds and also people are getting ARs chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. And while not being a "30 caliber" it's definitely a full size rifle cartridge. Like you wouldn't call a .270 or 7mm an intermediate cartridge.
Bullpup prototype based around the Scar H
Then what would you call the garand?
Least norinco makes forged receivers and is chromed . MUTT.
What's a good sling option for these rifles?
I was thinking an HK hook on an MS1 sling or a Vickers Sling.
That cheap fibrous yellow rope and some simple knots. Jk. Depends on how you use your rifle. 2 point nylon with a quick adjust is always good 3 points too. Single points though....
Honorary Battle Rifle.
actually, they switched to castings in exchange for hardened bolts when they had complaints of bolt cracking years ago.
there are rumors that they switched to casting the bolts again once the issues have been sorted out.
Norincos have always been price point guns, user, but keep dreaming of quantum forging miracle guns delivered to the masses. you'll get them someday, user.
I can understand casting receivers. But casting bolts or trunnions? Why not just outright tell your customer base you don't care about their safety?
i liked this picture untill i arrived at the ar-10 with the off sized carry handle
pic related
this seems like a good way to bash your teeth in
I use a 2 point on my ar and that's what I would be looking for on this
Excuse the DMR post. I'm excited I just ordered two BFG ten speed SR25 double mag pouches. Going to make my DMR/BR chest rig soon.
IMO a 14.5"-16" .308 box fed semi automatic with capability optimized around 250-450m yet still capable of being pushed into a CQB sub 100m engagement and or a 450-550m engagement.
An SR25, SCAR17s, or LMT MWS with a 14.5" barrel and a 1/4x Elcan with an offset red dot (micro red dot or RMR style) are all fantastic examples of modern battle rifles.
Galil ACE .308 is also a solid contender.
>Battle rifle
>Intended for use as a DMR
Nigga wat?
>An SR25, SCAR17s, or LMT MWS with a 14.5" barrel and a 1/4x Elcan with an offset red dot (micro red dot or RMR style) are all fantastic examples of modern battle rifles.
>Galil ACE .308 is also a solid contender.
are you excited at all by the MDR or Tavor7?
how would you trick out an MDR?
>IMO a 14.5"-16"
For the most part I can agree with you but traditionally battle rifles sit in the 18"-22" length.
DMR’s are not battle rifles, stop selling memes to idiots who end up buying overweight precision rigs that are too big for practical use
Battlerifle=/=dmr
The MDR looks neat, but availability is still an issue obviously and I haven't heard much about how they suppress. The Tavor7 seems sweet. I wonder if it works with the Geissele Sabra trigger.
>SR25, SCAR17s, or LMT MWS with a 14.5" barrel and a 1/4x Elcan with an offset red dot (micro red dot or RMR style) are all fantastic examples of modern battle rifles.
>are all fantastic examples of modern battle rifles.
>modern battle rifles.
Reading comprehension please my dude.
>DMR’s are not battle rifles
See the part of my post where I said:
>Battle rifle
>Intended for use as a DMR
Nigga wat?
You too. Reading comprehension please.
Also you're just salty because I was critical of your budget battle rifle and baby killer iron sights. Thicken up. What bipod is that?
You copy paste that of Af15.com faggot
no one cares about "muh forging" when you heat treatment is subpart and your parts aren't even the proper dimensions
>SCAR bullpup
>reciprocating charging handle face fucks you every time you fire
jej
>Implying Norinco M1As are basically Springfield tier for less than a third of the price.
Is ptr best battlerifle?
That would be the Scar followed by the EBR
>EBR
Hell no.
Detachable magazine, self loading, full power rifle cartridge.
What do you have against the EBR.
>Pull trigger
>Lose teeth
Nothing, I actually really like the EBR, I just don't think it's got anything significantly better than its peers
What are some cool, lesser-known battle rifles other than your standard FALs, PTRs, and the like? The Hakim/Ljungman and FN-49 are some I can think of.
SVT-40
Madsen LAR
I was told not to buy one because it beats up your shoulder but I think it feels that same as the original.
I also put a Rhinemetall F/A Bolt Group in it and a #17 locking piece so it shoots a bit softer.
Its not real comfortable on the cheek but it doesnt beat it up either.
All other battle rifles are inferior
So far how out are you fellas accurate at with battle rifles? Not the possible accuracy based on the weapon, you as the shooter.
What a piece of junk
>haven't actually shot it
classic Jow Forums
With my saiga 308 I can put all my rounds through a 8x8inch box at 300m with iron sights from the shoulder...... How quickly I can do that is another story. But that's expected since it is the rifle I shoot the most.
Should I get a PTR GI or A3R?
GI pros
>cheaper
>more classic look without the rail
>steel trigger housing
A3R pros
>prefer the black powder finish
>would be getting the wide handguard and black furniture regardless, so less extra parts sitting around
>welded rail is probably sturdier and holds zero better than a mount
A3R
Im picking up an ar10. Oh boy gonna pop my AR cherry.
How accurate is ptr?
Any reason why?
Not him but based on your criteria I'd probably go with the A3R given you'll have to buy less shit. It's a bit more, but even if you buy cheap then burn a bunch of cash for upgrades or accessories when you could just get what you wanted to begin with.
which one? Some are alot better than others
When I was buying my Scar I had to wait for one to come in so the dealer tried to sell me on a Falkor Alpha instead. Never heard of the rifle before. I still went with the Scar but still trying to figure out what made the Falkor 4k. Looks solidly built and felt great but it still seems like just a high quality AR-10. Any one have any experience with it?
Uhh, I picked up one in late October early November of last year to the tune of about 1400 USD down in Arizona. It was because it came with like ten mags, original pre-ban box, bayonet, sling and a couple of other small things. Though, the only other one I've seen had been for 1K for the rifle alone. The only reason that they are now going for roughly the same price as the SA ones is due to rarity. The ban on Norinco really jacked up their costs. However, performance wise it runs very good and the only problem I've had with mine is that the front sight post keeps getting loose. Some blue locktite will fix that once I get around to it.
warm up at 300yds on the half man
walk the swingers back from 115yds to 200yds
spend most rounds on the gong at 375yds, the sound is divine
>high quality anything
>Jow Forums
Pick one
rude
We dont have rich boomer Fudds like Hanselhd but there are some ballers in Jow Forums
It's true
Don't get me wrong tho, "good enough" while also being as cheap as possible is pretty much the definition of milspec. So good on ya.
The only "rich" Jow Forumscommando I know of was Squid. And he spent his money on guns instead of food.
Rich people who happened to post on Jow Forums once or twice don't count.
That M16 looks rediculous, but Im lovin' those galils.
>And he spent his money on guns instead of food.
Wasn't Squid fat as fuck? He must have made a shitload of money then
I mean you're not wrong but I don't want to admit youre right either
All I heard was that some Jow Forumsommandos visited him in some meetup and had to take him grocery shopping because all he had in his fridge was some bottles of water
lol the fuck. He must have been a really nice guy in person because I would have been inclined to let him go hungry if he spent that kind of money on his guns but said fuck having food.
Jow Forums has unique anons. Even among the boards
I spent way too much on this and now I'm broke (seriously) because I had unexpected expenses come up.
No ragrets.
Proof.
(Don't worry, though, I have gold and silver to dip into if I can't survive on what's in my pantry.)
So an AK is a battle rifle?
no
The proto-battle rifle.
Is DSA really trash or am I being memed on by GunPlumber?
I don't want to have to pay almost $1k for a forged receiver.
not with that chode of a cartrige
Start fucking fat chicks for money
>intermediate cartridge
Honestly, Gunplumber would gain if DSA started making in spec receivers again. The less time he has to spend unfucking them during the build, the more builds he can do. It's not like he's making receivers in competition.
Its really not worth it desu, you aren't going to get anything you can get from other platforms.
Other than various AR-10's (most that I fired where cheap ones that were not too good) the best battle rifle you can get that is affordable is the M1A. Its very accurate, has decent ergo's and has a large support system for it in the U.S. The PTR is ok but those ergos are going to get annoying as time goes on
Im canadian.So dont laught but...BCL102
>BCL102
>AR10
I don't even know how to get started, but it sounds fun. I'm lined up to do fencing for local ranchers during the day time, so my nights would be free.
I would say Craig's list but that got shut down. Just take an add out in your local paper or make flyers
What are my options for stripped sr25 uppers
sr25 brand sr25= KAC
lr308= dpms pattern= aero p, 'psa', jp and randoms
ar10= armalite
Did I fuck up by passing this by?
In addition to ARs
M14s in 6.5 creed have grown in popularity enough among builders that Springfield Armory Inc put out a limited stock M1A Loaded model chambered for it.
6.5 creed definitely belongs in /brg/
No
Cetme a shit
No. there is no cetme g3. Theres only a CETME-C (in .308)
That is also a century arms abortion.
Where the fuck are my parts.
Glad to know, I was tempted.
6.5 meme is a barrel burner and is more suited to DMR role rather than battle rifle
The receiver is excellent (Forged), the stock is generally serviceable, and the barrel is to spec kinda
That said you have to:
replace bolt and re headspace (Critical, must do)
New Oprod
New FSB and Flash suppressor (Critical)
New gas regulator
The best way to go about this is to get it rebuilt, or rebuild yourself to the best of your ability to national match spec
US market Norinco and Polytech M14S are forged, some of the newer canadian M305's aren't
The receivers don’t need to be forged. Springfield receivers have had trends of thousands of rounds run through them without issue
