What where they thinking?

They were thinking they could sell some humvees, duh.
>a thread died for this.
looks like the 1114
>hey guys look at our new humvee!
IED intensifies
No vee hull means they weren't thinking about land mines ("IED" is a new term for an ancient idea.)
definately, every time these badboys have been hit by IED's nothing happens.
I gotta say, if I had to drive around over there I would definitely want a v-haul and probably more ground clearance but hey, at least you can't just shoot the occupants with an AK now.
it's a humvee thing, you wouldn't understand
>pictured: A better hummydummy
looks familiar
bushmaster is goat
check em. trips of truth. heres one that got schwacked. One guy was unconscious and the crew had minor injuries.
It's a light, protected utility vehicle. Forces use them for very light tasks like driving people or small amounts of equipment around. They're cheap(er), but protected. They're for overseas or home environments but are stronger than civilian vehicles
But... You can't even shoot out of the vehicle. What are they even thinking?
>2018
>HMMWV
Also
>humvee
>no 'V' hull
Did you literally not even watch the vid before asking that?
Upgraded mobility, cargo load cap, survivability.
Probably still very competitive with interoperability, spare parts with existing Humvees worldwide and an already existing production line, knowledge base.
Literally not tactical and try airlifting that on the fly by say a Chinook.
exposed gas cap
I know what the marins are gonna be collecting next.
New features include ABS brakes and ESC. Basically mandatory safety equipment for road cars for ages. Seriously. What were they thinking by not implementing those a long time ago? Probably they weren't thinking that much.
ABS is to increase braking distance to make sure you hit children, now ECS (depending if it is tied to the brake upgrade) can be useful, but in low traction situations its going to get you killed
Because HMMWVs are literally 70s cars and are colossal pieces of shit that need to be replaced.
>literally not tactical
>can mount LMG, HMG, CROWS, TOW etc.
>can be adapted for any role, combat taxi, fire support, comms, scouting etc.
>carries 8 guys
>way more protected than humvee
>faster than humvee
>more range than humvee
>ontop of all that heavier than humvee
>ACTUALLY HAS A FUCKING V HULL
also how naive you are. I live near multiple military bases and see chinooks airlifting them all the time, along with M113's, Unimogs etc. Bugger off.
Nice fucked up tire camber, can't wait to see hubs shearing off.
>rollover
>laughs in RG33
Instead of rocks they should've used skulls.
Oshkosh is the new big dog in town
Isn't it meant to be like that?? And it straightens out once fully loaded??
It's almost as if it uses diesel.
You're delirious. You can't airlift that in full config, the humvee will be easily liftable by more numerous medium helicopters too. And possibly dual by Chinook. And then there's atv capabilities, parts maintenance in the field etc.
Also got some pics of a Chinook lifting the Bushmaster, Google has about nothing so I take it it virtually never even happens.
Why isn't a blast-deflecting V-hull standard? It's not like IEDs are going to go out of style
>What were they thinking?
>Back in the 80's
"The military wants a bigger, tougher Jeep that can do all (List of parameters) this shit."
>Now
"Lets get some tiny dick billionaires to buy our trucks!"
Call Volvo.
This is a fucking vehicle
Some militaries want the smaller vehicle.
>driving that dick-tingling piece of nordic engineering
Know several guys who were in various MRAPs that were blown up. All of them have fucked up backs, but some of them lived through multiple IEDs
Australia doesn't use may Air deployable vehicles in its doctrine. As a DEFENCE FORCE, we often operate as patrol or defence units. to get a vehicle out we use RECOVERY VEHICLES when they're not capable of moving or destroy the wreck if it's unrecoverable.
We don't use air logistics to move things over small distances. we don't need to because the Bushmaster is designed to protect and retaliate.
we haven't even used our tanks for ages. we just aren't in need of using them. so we got an intermediate vehicle. Boxer 500 or something.
There's also the Hawkei
good thing my dick is fucking massive
So you want a Jeep....
In 80's they wanted a jeep that doesn't flip over and kill it's passengers when it turns at speeds higher than walking speed. Pic related.
It is a forestry or mining tractor that has been painted green.
Everyone who was in the army for more than 4 years has a fucked back and knees and ankles. It comes along with the part that humans aren't designed to carry their body wieght+50kg all the time.
No i mean like crushed vertebrae as a direct result of being slammed straight up. Not your general slipped disk the rest if us get.
i drive a prius
hot pink, leopard print interior
Fools.
Textron TAPV is master race...
>I wonder if theres a way to ruin the approach and departure angles without making it anymore resistant to mines or IEDs while also ruining the aesthetic...
>tall
>top-heavy
>inefficient
>requires a recovery crew to change a tire
>not even sure what its role is
The TAPV is a VIP transport or MP vehicle at best. It’s too unstable for overland, too conspicuous for recce, too underarmed for offensive ops... it’s an IED-resistant road vehicle that came too late for the fight where it was needed. Every driver I’ve talked to has said it’s junk.
Tire can be changed by the crew without issue.
While top heavy it is incredibly capable off road. Drivers need to be trained well.
T. Spent last 8 months teaching Driver and Gunners courses on the vehicle...
Strykers are badass when the driver is trained too. That means nothing
Wholly agree it isnt suited to the role its been placed in. Convoy Escort and Rear Area Security tasks are its niche.
But its what we got. So as per always we are making it work.
