What do you mean long engagements? IMO an Elcan or ACOG on a 14.5" 5.56 is one setup that everyone should have, but if you live in straight up flatland, build an 18 or 16" 5.56 SPR with a 1-6x scope, or maybe even a 16" .308 DMR type of thing.
But yeah Elcan or Acog on 14.5" 5.56 is a great SHTF setup for most people.
I mean yeah it doesn't look great. I've got some rail covers coming, and I'm shopping for a vertical grip for it. If I fall in love with it I'll paint it something cool and chop the barrel, so after all of that it might just maybe start to look a bit less hideous. It has some neat fucking features though I'll tell ya hawhut.
