NFM Bear II. It was issued gear in Norway a few years back, but getting hold of it as a civilian has proven to be nigh impossible.

I’m looking to add a pair of 6x6 side plates to my kit. I miss the secure all-around feeling I had back when I wore an IOTV everyday.
I have full PAI lvl III+ soft armor all around in a KDH ATPC with LVL 4 standalone plates front and back.
If I wanted to add some cheap 6”x6” side plates, would some steel plates do ok with the LVL3+ soft armor backing? If not, are there any good deals for something else? Since this mostly sits in the closet, I don’t mind if it’s slightly heavier, especially since I have pretty good lightweight front and back plates. Having steel plates without expiration date is one less thing I will have to replace.
Any input is appreciated.

I used a Camelback Delta5 overseas. It was very high quality. I Just slipped it on over my IOTV and gunners restraint harness. Worked great.

I had a folding one for my Harris laced into my back vest molle next to my hydration carrier, then used a short cable run to my radio pouch to connect with adapters. When we needed to talk far, I would just have my buddy unfold it and have it stick up from my back above my head. I would guess A similar set up would allow you to adapt to what ever your ham antenna threads are.

Not exactly how I did it, but this picture I found kind of shows the idea. Some guys would strip a piece of antenna cable and weave the exposed inner core all over their vest to act like some sort of antenna man. It typically did not work very well at all, But you might be able to get it to work if you can figure out your wavelengths and such.

Plate carrier, and my opinion is that steel offers superior protection. Ceramic is used due to weight, but as a civilian replacing a plate whenever it's shot or you fall on it is not possible. Every time I've seen someone get shot is by multiple rounds, snipers just completely avoid shooting the armor all together.
