It's amusingly shit, Brownells will kike out at every opportunity. I'm amazed they got proper chromed BCGs and partial-fence lowers for the XM16E1. They sure did fuck up their XM177E2 though.

I know you can get the national match service free float tubes, you could try putting the a1 handguards on that without the heat shields and it may fit. I know there was an user before who had wooden triangle handguards on one of those tubes.

Just curious. I keep my second in a Larue trigger chassis so people can try it out. Its easier than getting the rifle out everytime.

Seems like you're on the right track w/o the heat shields and all. Some dude was able to get them to fit on a freefloat tube after more modification to the handgaurds themselves. Which would be fine in my case, I wouldn't mind chopping up repro hand guards. But further googlefu leads me to believe that the a1 is not legal for nra/cmp national matches. Bummer, I really like the way the flat bottom sits across my knuckles when im slung up. I mean i don't really plan on shooting a sanctioned match any time soon but i like shooting within regs.

Guess I'll just throw a match trigger on the a1 and build an a2. I already hit man sized steel at 300 yards with regularity as is with the a1 so thats good enough.

Just finished putting this together for hi-power competition. White Oak free float tube, looks like it would handle triangle handguards with a little dremmel modification on the inside to clear the tube.

Can you list me your build? I want to build something similar but with an A2 handguard, and a pencil barrel. Ive never held that URG(?) stock before, when its closed in is it the same length as a carbine at close position? I was thinking of doing that or the vltor tube with a OG 2 position stock maybe.
