Has there ever been a fighter generation as big of an unmitigated disaster as this one?

has there ever been a fighter generation as big of an unmitigated disaster as this one?
the F-35 is plagued with conflicting sources and claims that make it difficult to discern actual facts about the aircraft rather than memes, plus slow as fuck development time
PAK-FA/SU-50 was so poorly done that the russian government outright cancelled the program after a decade of hype
the J-20 is a complete mystery that has tons of things about the aircraft that make you wonder what the fuck the designers are doing
the J-31 is a half assed export plane made to get more funds for the J-20
the unnamed airbus fighter is so late that by the time it comes out everyone else will be halfway into development of 6th gen aircraft

what the fuck is going on with this gen

Mutts can't engineer a good plane.
The F35 is a mutt piece of shit.

apperently no one else can either, since the PAK-FA was so shit the russian gov halted production, neither of the chinks planes have finished development, and the airbus fighter doesnt exist beyond charts and theories.
in fact, id say the F-35 has gotten the furthest out of the 5th gens.

The F-35 is the first "true" 5th gen fighter. The F-22, while technically in 5th gen, is built like gen 4, with Gen 4 air combat in mind.

With the F-35 being the first of it's kind, it's going to have problems. The F-16 was the first fly-by-wire fighter made, and pilots called it a lawn dart because of it's myriad of problems it had in it's early days. In the end, like the F-16 before it, the Lightning II will be buffed out and in time be as respected.

i know that, but wouldnt the others have similar luck to the F-35? after that it just goes downhill.

>is built like gen 4, with Gen 4 air combat in mind.
What did he mean by this

it fights like a 4th gen but has the tech and versatility of a 5th gen

what does it mean to fight like a 4th gen?

like how an eagle or a hornet does it.

That doesn't really elaborate on anything

watch Topgun for the brainlet's explanation

Manual situational awareness leading to fetishizing physical performance.

what could have been

what could have fucking been

I guaran-fucking-tee you that retards would be saying the same goddamn thing about the Raptor if the YF-23 had won.

>Manual situational awareness
No pretty sure they're equipped with radar and datalinks

Probably true

yeah, like I said, manual.

The pilot takes the radar track and consciously assembles all vectors, contacts, etc ad nauseam in his mind.

As opposed to transparently networked sensor fusion, which metaphorically derives the battlespace calculus for the pilot to act on.

now this is a poe's law post

Makes me cry errytime

This is just a vatnik cope. The 5th gen just exposed who is on top (US) who is developing as a nation (China) and who is just a kleptocratic organized crime shithole (Russia).

true if big

..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

not even

two different roles, yf23 as a great interceptor and f22 as a great 'dogfighter' if it ever came down to it

>le maneuverability is only good for dogfights face

>has there ever been a fighter generation as big of an unmitigated disaster as this one?
Yes, the Su-57.

>Su-57
>a fighter generation

>Slav shills can't into ergonomics or interface design because it doesn't involve comparing numbers on a brochure

Situation normal.

I have had multiple dreams about this aircraft getting a gau-8 cannon and slightly larger wings with more fuel in body conforming tanks and becoming some kind of super cruise stealth cas mother fucker fighter bomber.

I know.it will happen but the dream refuses to die.

It all depends on how useful stealth turns out to be. Sure it has it's shortcomings but it could be great.

Basically, one step off fully automated, and just awaiting one final development in AI to be a big flashy drone.

>Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?

IDK about that. AI is nowhere near replacing even a truck driver thus far.

>PAK-FA/SU-50 was so poorly done that the russian government outright cancelled the program after a decade of hype

You cant even read. Production is cancelled where Borisov states cancellation for only a few years. It has nothing to do with the program or the 12 aircraft still getting pushed with all the configurations it already has

Is everyone on this board this retarded? Is this also the reason why there are so many Jow Forumstard comments here along with Jow Forumstards in their own board posting similar shit like this on their board?

Unlike humans, flying is far easier for computers than driving.

oh no, its retarded

retards detected

AI is litterly capable of doing it now. People are just queasy about the idea of letting a machine decide to kill someone. Even though it would be far less prone to fucking up then a human pilot.
