No, Cleetus. Gasoline.

Hype as fuck for jeep to release their first pickup in decades just to convert it into a modern willys MB

I own a -67 Ural and it's definitely the most fun i've had on a bike.

It's not very fast or strong but it's just very "mechanical" to drive. It smells of oil and bakelite, you hear the valves clicking and sucking, the straight cut bevel gear connected to the drive shaft whines loudly when you accelerate or brake and changing gears send a massive "KACHUNK" through the whole frame.
It also has a reverse gear, which makes a lot of sense but reversing with a motorcycle is always hilarious for some reason. I make a point of doing it whenever i park.

So a suppressed subsonic .22lr?

GS masterrace rider here, it fucking well needs one. Not that it isn't badass or anything, mind you, but goddamn, can you imagine trying to backpedal that beast up *any* kind of incline?

Cool, do you have the sidecar too?

I don't know how the modern ones are but mine is about 330 kg of premium soviet pig iron (compare with a Goldwing which weighs about 270kg).

Turning at speed requires a bit of manhandling and hard braking isn't really an option.

Easy way to lose a brain at any speed.

Did we really need the exact same thread with the same content again?

How far back do you have to go before you get Urals that don’t have garbage QC? Because I ain’t paying $20kfor a shitbox bike that might not even make it home off the lot.

They're very cool, but they're unreliable junks of metal shit. There will constantly be something broken on one.

Blocks your path

You can buy used bikes from the mid-2000's for $3-7k.

I haven't really been in touch with modern ones but from what i've heard they're a bit more dependable than the older ones. Mainly due to better components and materials.

I spent 2k for mine 2 years ago and i've had the fortune of getting one that's been cared for and maintained properly. It was probably worth around 4k due to rarity and condition.

They're not really "neat" bikes.
It's supposed to have small leaks, rough edges and make weird noises. Like says, it will never be 100% perfect and parts will break. However, if cared for and maintained, it will never truly die. Nothing is hidden, hard to fix or requires special tooling. Parts here are easy to find and import, i can't speak for murrica though, it's usually done by enthusiasts.

I always keep tools, oil and spark plugs in the trunk.

To answer your question, they've always had garbage QC. I would not spend 20k on any motorcycle.

I would probably go for one from the 70s or 80s that's either been restored or obviously cared for. Watch for excessive leaks (a gasket is cheap, a new engine is not), excessive rust (check the trunk) and take it for a slightly longer test drive to make sure the engine runs well. Mine runs pretty bad when cold but very well once it gets up to temperature.
The gearbox will probably be a bit awkward at best, this is normal. Good sounds are heavy clunks and whirrs from straight cut gears. Bad sounds are rattling and coffee grinder noises.

Buy a 2007-2013. You can get them for under 6k and parts are everywhere. Or, Go back to the 90s or earlier when they were a 650. Parts for that are stupid common on eBay for very cheap. I buy all my parts from Russia for my 2006 because dealerships in the US rape you hard.

I treat mine like shit, and haven’t done a lot of the routine maintenance required other than oil changes and tire rotations. If they salt the roads where you live during the winter, it’ll rust pretty quickly. They’re Hard to kill. You can pop wheelies on them too, but you have to be in 2WD so it goes straight instead of veering off to the right

Are Urals really that common in the US? How the fuck do so many of you memelords have a commie bike?

OwO

They’re around. Most importers are on the east coast but they’re around. Getting more popular due to hipsters tho

I would definitely call them rare. Only seen one other than mine before

Ok. Here’s when I somehow fed a nut to the right cylinder.

user do you fuck your engine block often?

The nice thing is that the cylinders stick out the side, so to mess with the carbs is super easy, just a couple bolts and remove the air tubes and you’ve removed the carb

Attached: 3B189E5F-29DA-4783-8D82-8F6E9ACC0BFE.jpg (4032x3024, 2.03M)

Do you mean fornicate or screw up? That’s the only time I ever screwed it up, but I have yet to fuck it.

When I first got the bike, the final drive had a small oil leak, so I had to pull it apart and change the gaskets out. Took maybe an hour. The Fd gaskets are paper and one must have shifted and torn because one of the bolts got loose. I blame that on the previous owner who ha dobviously changed the gaskets before selling. That was 2 years ago and there hasn’t been a drop since.
Pic is torn apart FD

I love this stupid thing honestly. Valves. Adjusting the right valves are tricky because of how little clearance you get between the cylinder and the sidecar body

the ural is dogshit so I guess it's Jow Forums....

My favorite WW2 Axis light tractor/airtug is WAY too far down in this thread.

>Everybody posting open top vehicles like rain, snow or other inclement weather doesn't exist.

If anything goes the way of a SHTF scenario I'd go for something like this. Disgustingly robust, 4x4 , ex-Australian army. Could put your whole life in the back of one of these, even clad the back section in some metal plates if safety was an issue and still have plenty of power to spare.

Alternatively if you need something smaller the 6x6 Australian ex-army Land Rovers are pretty goat.

May as well include an image of the Land Rovers. Beautiful vehicles.
