So i just got a chinese m44 from a guy who had it in a gun locker in his basement, which flooded, and it was in damp conditions for a while.

How should i go about de rusting this thing properly? I know how to get rust out of motorcycle tanks, ( phosphoric acid) but im not sure about gun metal finishes.

I am about to aqquire a 91/30 everything is in good shape except the stock is a flaky dented mess. What is the best way to deal with this?

Don't fix history, leave as is fag.

Strip with denatured alcohol, sand, stain. Ignore the autists.

cum on it

It's a nugget, what history are you talking about? How Oleg the illiterate, toothless sheep farmer got gunned down by the Germans before he could even get a shot off?

This. Slav(e) raifu is a shit.

Soak in nitric acid for several days

>tfw own 1946 m44
I could probably sell it for $400+ on today’s market, but I don’t know if I should...

I never shoot it anymore but it’s also the gun I’ve had longest. What do bros?

I've regretted every gun I've sold, so I recommend keeping them.

No, you'll regret it, buy another one later at more than what you sold it for and it won't be the same.

anyone got the pic of the kommando who kept posting nugget cummies? i cant find it

how do you know

th-the guy at the gunshow said s-so

I'm pissed I can't find the .32 cal adapter anymore, the one that shoots .32acp, .32 H&R, .32 S&W, ad nauseum. For someone who shoots a lot of .32 caliber things it would be fantastic.

Nasty

$300 for a 1946 M44 with matching numbers a decent deal?

My shiny baby

Here's one that Bubba got hold of. I went ahead and bought it from him because I thought the refinish didn't look too bad, though I know it is FAR from what it looked like originally.
Also he only wanted $100 bucks for it...before the price jump, back in 2012. Brand new ones were going for around $120 at the time. (I might be wrong about the year)

Attached: Mosin1.jpg (2048x1536, 440K)

Honestly, no. It shouldn't be that much. It should cost half that much. But for some reason everyone has hiked the price way the fuck up and people are paying those prices, so they will most likely never come back down. So if you're willing to pay that much then get it before someone else does.

yer a big meanie and yer guns are stupid.

yeah how do you even fire the fucking thing while keeping it on your shoulder

Picked this up late last week. Popped by my LGS and it was listed for $200, I was tempted in passing on it until another store patron said he was thinking of sportising it. Ended up changing my mind immediately and bought it.

1898 Tula Production with Romanian and what looks to be Bulgarian stock markings.

You're in luck. At least one old Jow Forumsommando is around (me) to post the Shellac FAQ.

Forgive the lack of bayo. It was present, just not on the rifle.

I saw some boomer on youtube do a tutorial for this but he mixed in red food coloring to make it look nicer, is a spray can or brush better? I know russian armorers did a shit job but im not looking for authenticity in that repsect.

I know this Mosin......

Been looking for a m44 for a while. I have a 91/30, any suggestions on where to find an m44?

Was lucky enough to find one that (Im fairly certain) is an original PU, all original and matching serials. From what I've heard the original PU's are better performing than the rebuilt ones

I want you to stop and think long and hard about what you're going to be doing there.

Attached: IMG_20180703_162250.jpg (301x360, 14K)

Yeah. Modifying a Mosin Nagant to be more fun, more compact and a different experience to 1 of millions of rifles. Mosins arent rare or anything worth a damn. Let people have their fun. Bolt actions in general are useless for anything other than fun or hunting. Which it retains the ability to do both.

Attached: Tanous_CES_rf.jpg (554x226, 28K)

I also want to go on record and say that muzzle brake is absolutely disgusting.

Armslist/gunshow/LGS. Wherever surp can regularly be found in your town. Found mine at a LGS, ended up trading a rifle I never used for it.

I only like Finnish, or Finnish modified, Nuggets.

Attached: M39 and stuph.jpg (2000x1125, 1.51M)

who here /burgernugget/
got this finn'd westinghouse for 250 early this year
saw another westinghouse at a flea market for 300 but didn't havethe money, and saw a sporterized remington at a gun show but I'm not a fan of sporterized guns

Attached: aHv0rOt.jpg (1600x1200, 144K)

My stock is all dinged up. What stain will get it as close to original as possible?

Attached: 20180704_003035.jpg (4032x1472, 2.63M)

Garnet shellac is what the Russians used

My first rifle, I refinished it myself. And before someone gives me shit about the handguard, it's a spare and I have the original put up.

Attached: 20180801_110240.jpg (4128x3096, 3.68M)

Thanks

>Let people have their fun.
You mean put on shitty overpriced mods on their rifle then after like a month or two, get bored with it and try to sell it on Armslist for far more than what it's worth (which is nothing) in order to get their money back from paying for all those shitty mods and such plus the cost of the rifle but no ones buys it so they just sell it at their local pawn shop for like $50-$100 or whatever. This is the Bubba Cycle 100% like go into a local pawn shop and you're guaranteed to find a bubba'd milsurp gun that the pawn shop bought for nothing.

If you want to use a scope on a Mosin heres what it will cost you.

$110 for a scope mount
$80 Bent Bolt
$80-$150 new stock to accompany the scope mount and to get a freefloat barrel
$40-$80 smith fees

$320 - $420 plus you permanently modify the gun, and you can no longer use stripper clips unless you use a long relief scope.

The CBRPS is $300, you can use stripper clips still and normal scopes. And it doesnt modify the gun permanently. Clearly if you want to run a scoped Mosin its cheaper to go CBRPS

Not your money so stop complaining you goober fudd. Not everything has to be to your liking.

and pay 250 for a savage axis which will do it 10x better than any chopped up mosin save for a sv-98

hi boys

i'm a nogunz that recently moved to a gun friendly state and i've been wanting to get a mosin

i don't know where to get one though, i went to cabela's and they have a few for $399

my two favorites were a hex receiver from 1931 with what seemed liked matching numbers on everything i could see (receiver, bolt, buttplate, magazine) but some rust and pitting

the other was a 1942 round receiver with no pitting or rust and the wood seemed to be in better condition but the buttplate serial number didn't match the rest that i could see so it seems more likely to be non-matching in general but is also in better condition from what i can see.

also is cabela's a bad place for this? where do i go

also both seemed russian and were 91/30's

the 1931 had a russian star on the receiver but the 1942 did not

>no u

Appreciate it bud

Attached: 1-IMG_0465.jpg (800x533, 237K)

I don't appreciate autism, I feel bad for it

I have Mosin with open sights and hex receiver, any idea why they aren’t closed? Did bubba do this?

A man's fighting spirit is understood beyond borders.

Yeah great until you forget to sell the original stock with the gun

Attached: 1520093272132.gif (200x200, 6K)

Are NCstar stripper clips any good?

Attached: please.png (500x522, 144K)

Do you seriously not know that an aerosol/spray will always, always put on a more consistent and nice coat on anything?

That's a good looking one.

Hey I called it first :^)

>find m39 at fun store for $600
>don't want to spend that much on a nugget but offer to trade my m44 and some cash for it
>come back the next week with my nugget to trade in
>the price tag says $700 now
>they claim they didn't change it
>turn 360 degrees and walk out the door
where the fuck do I find one of these at a price I can afford? I really want one and I'm afraid they're only going to get more expensive the longer it takes to find one.

Leave it, it adds character.

45 rounds and the cleaning kit/oil bottle on board. Just grab the rifle and go innawoods.

Attached: 45rounds.jpg (1500x1000, 229K)

I paid 500$ for my m39, but that was 8 months ago. It's also not in the greatest condition, pitting on the bolt and inside the bore. The rifling is still strong though.

Dumping my new acquisition. My father had cancer and we're going through some of his old stuff. He had this laying around with a mosin and lots of arrows and bows.

>s..sorry if I shit posted you

On a side note can anyone tell me what grain this is and how many rounds it has? I kind of don't want to use it for memories sake. Posting small dump
