yea, no. Also from what i've seen #4 buck is barely adequate for light skinned medium sized game at 20yrds with ideal shot placement. Not exactly the first caliber id pick considering it might shit the bed if a husky man with a thick coat decides to break in and offer me anything but the most ideal of shot lines. Coincidentally the same reason LEOs have been dropping #4 buck like it was hot over the last few decades.

S&B bulk FMJ ammo comes sealed with paint at the crimp and primer and is the cheapest ammo you can get so sort of the equivalent to WWB in the US in the EU. it's pretty good ammo and can stay submerged in water for weeks and still fire because of the sealing..

I've shot tons of S&B, never had an issue. The only thing I will say is that the primers seem to be hard, but that isn't an issue with any of my firearms save one. In fact, the only ammunition I have ever had reliability problems with was '50's era corrosive 8mm mauser from Yugoslavia and Independence Ammunition from Israel. One of the Indepence .223 rounds KABOOMED my AR-15.

There are some PCP airguns that could most definitely kill a man and would give you faster follow ups than a crossbow, but I don't know about leaving the tanks pressurized and the airgun read to fire for long periods of time. I suppose it is no different than storing a CO2 tank for paintball but I would do some research before I went with the airgun.

The point was that felons might want a home defense option but be barred from owning a firearm. Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of air rifles that can kill, and most of those models are capable of a higher rate of fire than a crossbow.

Right, and more specifically the seals of the airgun itself handling the pressure of being fully compressed and at the ready. For a SHTF situation where you have some time to prepare your air gun it wouldn't be a big deal, but if something went bump in the night you wouldn't want to ask a home intruder to wait while you pressurize your tank.

I don't disagree, but the point is that some localities make firearm ownership next to impossible, felony conviction or no. So given that, what is the next best alternative a person could reasonably acquire and practice with for their defense. Letting a can of bear mace off in your home is not a great option, a crossbow or an airgun are better but both have issues with storing energy at the ready for long periods of time.

All firearms are used ranged weapons if you haven't noticed. You completely missed the fact that the doctrine the Army uses is best fit for what they feel necessary. Considering the wide variety of ammunition type available to the average Joe, the reality is that ARs are some of the most adept HD weapons available. Do you really think everyone is loading up with M193 or M855 like they were about to go on patrol? You have tons of options for perfectly viable self defense ammo that will not mangle up the nigger sleeping next door.
Regardless, I wouldn't expect a person who can't tell the difference between their service weapon and an AR to grasp this.

We need to expand federal gun control. Fewer guns and difficulty getting them means fewer criminals and would-be criminals have access to firearms.
Guns can easily be manufactured with the right knowledge and equipment, but this is only significant when dealing with or speaking about organized crime, such as drug cartels, who are best dealt with by law enforcement. Most common criminals do not have the smarts or the patience to make a 9x19 SMG like the Luty; they would rather steal a gun, or use something readily accessible.
Gun Rights activists only care about the Second Amendment and repealing gun control because it would make it easier to obtain firearms for their hobby, with no consideration as to the consequences.
The First Amendment has been curtailed in a way similar to the Second, by way of the Espionage Act of 1917, but comparing the two Amendments is disingenuous. Spoken words cannot be stolen and used to murder someone.
This is not 1770. Most people, yourself included, are content living in the wealthiest, most powerful nation in human history, and nothing is likely to change that any time soon. Your SHTF fantasies are just that. Fantasies. The worst that you could encounter is a natural disaster, in which case a car, light supplies and enough money for a hotel in a safe area is more important than a stockpile of firearms.
You're just a hobbyist and maybe a hunter. Gun Control will not affect you in any significant capacity.
