literally an overpriced prototype and technology demonstrator

Next time post the topic and not just a picture of the open ocean, thanks

Could use some dazzle camo

Why it looks so fucking ugly

except it was suppose to be more than that

>piece of shit
Dude, that thing made 800.000 $US for every single shell.
That's what I call profit!

Werent they supposed to replace the arleigh burkes?

The Zumwalt was definitely supposed to be more than a tech demo and development platform — but that’s what is. If Congress does the right thing the technology being developed from it won’t go to waste.

So was the F22 except now it's the best fighter in the world.

The worst part about this is that they went back to building on a 30 year old design. RIP US Navy.

greyscale is the new dazzle

>posts articles from years to a decade ago
That's not even good enough bait to get a picture about it being bait.

Threadly reminder that parts of this """warship""" are made of balsa wood

wood composite and basla wood are not the same thing

Congress is the reason there are only three and that each ship became so expensive.

Its kinda cool though

Better than the alternative

It's been on the drawing board for so long that they've switched between nuclear and diesel at least twice

I don't understand why they would build a stealth ship who's primary objective is fire support

This.

>Starts thread about boats; Posts picture of boatless sea

That thing would be shit. It's only 2d! And look how small it is. What good is a foot long warship?!

>That thing would be shit.
Agreed
>It's only 2d! And look how small it is. What good is a foot long warship?!
It would be almost as big as a Kirov (assuming the vatniks ever get the funding)

>In development hell for over a decade
>no agreement on powerplant
>weird non-standardized VLS
It just blows

Looks like it has a xmas tree on it

>F22 best fighter in the world
Nope

>The F-22 can't shoot down planes we don't build!

Recruiting tool. Stop being naive.

>We
I'm not Russian, dummy.

F-22 was needed, so it got the institutional support it needed. Zumwalt is a wank from braindead faggots like McCain who were butthurt about losing their Iowas, so it was allowed to founder as the needs of the Navy pointed towards more Burkes

>>weird non-standardized VLS
That's one of the best features

kek

It isn't uncommon for the first few ships of a type to have some serious teething problems that are worked out for subsequent builds.

I don't see anything to shoot at here...

With only few dozen produced it is going to be a very rare plane compared to the mass produced American whore planes!

What, the fixed inflexible loadout?
Something this big could fill multiple roles (independent cruising, fleet defense, bombardment duty), which would require different missiles than and isn't possible with the system-specific cold war hardware the russkies apparently want to mount on their first 21st-century ship

So it is a cruiser, rather then destroyer
>50 years service
yeah right.

years service
>yeah right.
Lord knows they're getting a lot of mileage from Soviet hardware built in the 80s
Some Tu-95s are as old as the boneyard B-52 fleet but were never retired...

>Lord knows they're getting a lot of mileage from Soviet hardware built in the 80s

they are not

>Some Tu-95s are as old as the boneyard B-52

they are not a single 95 older than early 1980

the fuck you on nigger ?

>not a single 95 older than early 1980
I thought the MS "variant" was just an overhaul of an existing airframe to a specification?
