>i have never been in a self-defense situation
I agree, greater-than-10-round mags are enough for self defense.
>damn, I brought waaaay too much ammunition for that shootout I was just in!
>really glad I had to reload during that firefight!
thoughts no one has ever had nor ever will
Enough is never enough.

>t.Californian with 30 rounders hidden away like Jews in Nazi Germany
Thank God.
It takes way too long to load 33rnd mags.
Gun Control opponents who argue
"hurr my AR-15 isn't select-fire and therefore isn't a weapon of war. Libturds BTFO" need to shut the fuck up. All guns are weapons of war and derivatives thereof. The Revolutionaries had access to top of the line weapons of war and the 2nd Amendment was designed to protect that ownership. I'd take my AR-15 to war over an FN/Colt M4A1 any day. I should be able to buy from a private sale, without a background check a select-fire short-barreled AR-15 with a suppressor.
slide safeties are better than glock safeties
Darling, the world is not enough
The 1911 is the ugliest fucking gun the world has ever seen.
kek
why do OPs make such shit threads
But who was wheelgun?
In a compact or a .45 or something sure
>a commander sized 1911 is one of the best firearms for citizen personal protection
>.357 sig is the best autoloader cartridge for virtually all situations
>glocks are good
Guns can be a huge waste of time and money for the most part and should be regulated and banned from tons of idiots from owning them
22lr is by far my favorite caliber and I hate when people hate on 22lr

You people are fucking dumb and I'm ashamed to be a poster on this board.
If you knew an ounce of what you were saying then you would know OP isn't saying shit about firefights, they're talking about SELF DEFENSE.
Self defense shootings in the U.S. hardly involve more than a few rounds being fired. Very rarely will anybody in a self-defense shooting empty a full magazine, and it's almost unheard of for people to actually reload. I'm not defending high capacity gun laws, nor am I saying you shouldn't carry an extra mag, just that OP makes a valid point and you're all so fucking knee-jerk about high capacity that you disregard literally everything else and kick into maximum aspergers tunnel vision mode.
Firefights are completely different though. You want as much ammo as possible.
I feel that even though they're a waste of time and money it's a free country and people can do what they want. However I completely agree with the second part of that post. As someone that sells guns at a shitty retail sporting goods store, you have no fucking idea how many people want lethal weapons for the most insipid reasons. So many people want shockwaves or taurus judges or other dipshit meme guns just to "make noise" and "fire in the general direction of" people without actually hitting them. I don't hate most firearm owners, but I would say since starting this job I hate probably 50% of them.
It's usually enough... but why take the chance?
Guns in non-black colors look good more often than not. I find the toy aesthetic appealing. Of course, nigshit and other ridiculous trash rich criminals tend to own usually looks bad
civilian non competition guns with optics dont need back up sights
>OP isn't saying shit about firefights, they're talking about SELF DEFENSE.
and you don't want as much ammo as possible to defend yourself? of course you do you dipshit.
>10 rounds is all I need! If I happen to need 11, oh well, I'll just let myself die and that's all.
Really makes me think.
spare mags exist.
but in a 1v1 situation if the other is guy isnt down after 10rds, its you
Piss off clerk
You should be ashamed that you posted.
> TIL the 2nd amendment was written to ensure adequate self defense against muggers.
Found the leaf.
They all got killed. That's why we invented semi-autos, duh.
you're like those fucking gear queers that consider it a big con that the glock 19 only holds 15 rounds instead of 17, and seriously consider carrying a glock 17 for EDC because of that reason, but you end up buying both and carrying neither anyway
Glocks are good looking guns.
>Implying negros don't travel in packs.
which is why revolvers with more than 6 shots are becoming more common
Shoot one and the rest scatter
I- I download my Calcuck Glock mags to 8 rounds
Kek, there was an SF guy running around youtube saying that he had never seen an SF guy use their back up irons and that in his experience anything that fucked up an Aimpoint, eotech or ACOG was going to at a minimum fuck up BUISs if not the entirw rifle. Of course I have mine so I don't get mocked and called unprepared or have a rifle that looks incomplete somehow.
That reminds me, 10 round .40s&w Glock mags will feed and fire 12 rounds of 9mm.
I always preferred having BUIS in case of battery failure;
Lmao we are talking about self defense. This could be a middle age peak condition man who is a deadshot or a 70 year old grandma who barely knows how to use a gun. I say whatever way you can defend yourself from a criminal that wants to do harm shouldn't get the decency of just a 10 round magazine. This is your life you're talking about, not some glorified "I could take the guy down in 10 or less". It shouldn't matter how you defend yourself it should matter that you DID defend yourself.
>can be enough
i dont think the "grandma" would even shoot all 10
>enough for self-defence
what does this mean? a shovel is enough for self defense, just dig a moat.
>leaving it up to chance
>10 rnd mag is enough for self-defence
There have been shootings that definitely did require more than 10 rounds in a magazine. In these cases they are the exception that proves the rule. Paul Harrell's breakdown of the Miami Dade shooting was an excellent demonstration of how low round counts and reloads can cost you your life.
Regardless of how good you are (or more realistically how good you THINK you are), when you have to manage not only outgoing fire but also incoming fire, your accuracy can degrade enormously to the point where you cannot reliably make effective hits. In these situations it is absolutely necessary to have more than 10 rounds.

If there is a option where I won't have to reload, I will take it.
This board is too racist.
Honk
Average number of shots fired in a self-defense situation is two. So, op is typically right.
>b-but what if you get in a gunfight
fuck off, your life will never be that interesting.
>being this retarded
>Average number of shots fired in a self-defense situation is two.
Gambler's fallacy, plain and simple. Average doesn't mean anything when it's still entirely possible to find yourself in a situation outside of the nominal average.
>fuck off, your life will never be that interesting.
There are plenty of people it happens to. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't give you the authority to decide that nobody needs it.
>The GLOCK is the ugliest fucking gun the world has ever seen.

I think that both the Glock and 1911 are very nice good looking pistols and I don’t hate either of them
Ak 47's are hugely overrated. Heavy, inaccurate, slow to reload and the charging handle is on the wrong fucking side
this looks cleaner than a 1911 and maybe even a 1903
Hipoint is top tier.
That would be a popular opinion, though.
>memes i've read on Jow Forums make me an expert on hypothetical defensive situations
just because a hundred other noguns post the same opinion as you doesn't mean you're right.
>ITT: people denigrate those who choose to carry standard capacity magazines while still claiming to be 2A supporters.
Fascinating stuff.
i think what OP is trying to say is that you shouldn't judge a gun's viability for CC based off of magazine capacity. the problem is that any sentence with the phrase 'you don't need' immediately sets off the 'anti-gun librul' alarm ingrained in Jow Forums's head from exposure to too many memes.
You should learn and become proficient in a martial art as well as shooting. Also being fat/unfit is disgusting and 9/10 times there is no excuse for being so pathetic.
>miami dade
>self defence
>1% of these one in a million occurrences result in you needing more than 10 rounds!
this isn't a good enough argument to condemn low capacity guns to uselessness.
also what kind of gun did paul use in all 15 of his self-defense shootings?
A guy with a regular ass hunting rifle would be more effective than a guy with a $3000 Ar-15 set up in any end of the world situation.
why do you think that?
I like women
>miami dade
>self defence
If it wasn't self defence then what is it?
>1% of these one in a million occurrences result in you needing more than 10 rounds!
That's not an argument. It's already statistically unlikely that you'll have to produce a firearm or engage in a gunfight of any kind as it is, in which case why are you arguing for the case of any kind of concealed carry at all?
If you are arguing the case for concealed carry, who gives a fuck how many rounds you need if you're simply going to carry the most effective and comfortable weapon you can get your hands on? The G19 is the CCW gold standard and holds 15 by default so why shouldn't I just carry that?
If it's just your opinion that you personally only need 10 rounds then why should any of us care about it?
>this isn't a good enough argument to condemn low capacity guns to uselessness.
Nobody said they were useless but OP said that 10 rounds was "enough" i.e. you don't NEED any more than that. If you're willing to carry more rounds than that, why shouldn't you?
Because $3000 AR’s are only good for posting pics on /ARG/
it was literally a stakeout run by the fbi
What about a $1000 AR?
Cop here. I have been in a self defense situation against three armed robbers in a store at São Paulo, Brazil, and one was wearing soft body armor.
It took me two full magazines of .40, and one of them is still alive today :)
>it was literally a stakeout run by the fbi...
...in which the FBI agents wouldn't have had to fire a single round if they hadn't been fired upon first by the suspects. If that isn't self defence I don't know what is.
>that $3000 dollar AR is S O U L L E S S unlike my enchanted heirloom .22 pump rifle my great grandad used to kill the squirrel king of louisville.
how dare you?!
lol no.
they went in to apprehend the criminals. they were not civilians just minding their own business
Did they or did they not have to fire their weapons in defence of their own lives, after receiving incoming fire from the suspects?
no
So they murdered those suspects in an unjustifiable shooting as it was not in defence of their own lives?
>unjustifiable
no they were criminals you fag
So anyone that the FBI deems is a criminal before they've undergone a fair trial can just be summarily executed can they?
basically yea. cops do it all the time
Short breakdown, of how 30+ rounds are sometimes just not enough.
>buying ibuprofen, 1 AM
>carrying PT 24/7 Pro Tactical OSS, 17+1 and a spare mag of 15, hollow point rounds, kydex holster under a nylon jacket
>two guys in a motorcicle stop right in front of the store, get out with their helmets on, armed with revolvers
>one guy in the back of the store also has a small .22 revolver and starts being violent with the cashier
>i drew my weapon, placed four rounds in the back and neck of the guy with the .22, and turned to the two others with helmets
>clusterfuck, they shot at me several times, and i fired back
>one guy tried to run and was used by the other as a human shield
>the guy used as a human shield received several rounds to his back and neck, and fell backwards
>i reloaded from my cover, spending 18 rounds, and fired back at the remaining guy, who was visibly injured
>i shot 15 rounds to his chest and hands, and pretty much destroyed both of his arms, as he fell over a broken glass balcony
>last guy was using a soft body armor robbed from a security guard, that took over ten rounds
>both arms amputated from taking several .40 rounds
>other two dead at scene
>recovered a Rossi .22 revolver, FN Browning 7.65 pistol and a Rossi 68 .38 revolver.
lol ok summerfag, being edgy isn't funny anymore.
Disregard that it was the FBI vs criminals, as a force on force engagement there are very important lessons to be learned from it.
sure, if youre fbi or LE
People with murder fantasies like this shouldn’t be allowed to own guns
Ok, you're clearly too retarded to discuss a big boy topic like this.
You bet.
lol ok keep larping as an operator
So you shot a guy that got grabbed by a robber?
Related.
Both aprehended firearms. That battalion badge is not mine, its from the responding team (military police).
>FBI
>operators
infinitely closer then you are
Neat.
>goalposts and the shifting thereof
It's an anonymous forum, so how would you have any idea of what training I may have received?
if youre LE or military obviously you can carry as you please since its your job
Nope. Guy with the 7.65mm pistol had a malfunction on his first or second round, and tried to run into the front of the store, bumping into the other guy with the revolver.
Other guy basically used him as a shield, and he died. Other guy actually managed to reload his revolver under fire, what a shame he can't do that no more (he has no arms now).
>if youre LE or military obviously you can carry as you please since its your job
The same as if you were a civilian with a CCW permit. Stop being deliberately obtuse.
of course, but then hes just pretending
It is enough for self defense, but it is also our right to have a greater capacity magazine. The second amendment didn't restrict powder horn sizes so fuck off commie.
