Evolution of CCW

How have people changed their CCW choices over time?

What was your 1st gun, 2nd gun, etc...

Did your carry locations change over time (appendix / ankle / pocket) .

Interested in carrying, but I want to learn from other people's mistakes before going through them myself...

I imagine most people's first mistake is getting a big gun for their first ccw. remember you have to carry this thing all day.

Don't get something too small because you're afraid of printing.

I went the opposite way. Carried a single stack for a couple of years, switched to appendix, than opted for a compact double stack.

Me too. Switching from a Glock 43 to a CZ hammergat as soon as I see one in stock at my local shootin' shack.

>goes from paleolithic to roman heavy infantry with gladius with no light spear infantry in between
>jumps all the way to redcoat, skipping the entire medieval and pike & shot periods of warfare
This bugs me, but I do have signs of autism, so whatever.

I feel your pedantry user.

okay but what if I print all the time even in loose shirts. I switched to single stack because no matter how tight my belt, no matter how flat my holster, no matter how big my shirt, I still print with a normal sized grip. skinny btw.

This

This bothered my autism as well

Yeah this bugged me a little too

they skipped a lot

FNX 9mm to Ruger LC9 to CZ Rami 2075

All in 3 o' clock kydex holsters.

That image reminds me of that one 1v1 flash game where there's two bases and as you play you progress through history and have to destroy the enemy base

I remember a game like that too? You know the name?

1st was a bersa thunder 380 I got for $200. Still one of my favorite guns, desu. I've got a mega boner for the Walther ppk so having a knockoff for that cheap was awesome.
Then I got a sccy wish was absolute garbage tier trigger, even if it was a double stack and pretty much everything I wanted in a ccw, but the trigger was so ass I sold it pretty fast.
I have a keltec 380 with the clip that is the undisputed best summer carry and I still carry that in the hot months.
I currently have a Walther pps I got a pretty nice deal on and love it. Night sights, single stack so it's thin, but still large enough to fit my hands.

There is also wild >implication that Russia is heir to the Rome.

1st and only carry longer than a month is a keltec .380 auto P3AT and I've got to say it's a wonderful choice if you pocket carry, desu. I'd trust the little qt 3.14 anywhere and in any situation.

>bersa thunder 380

How often do you carry that versus the Keltec or Walther? Depends on weather or what?

First gun
G19
Second gun
G30 - sold it
Third gun
.357 ruger sp101- sold

I just stick with various G19s for CC now

Opposite here. I started with an XD9 sub compact. Went smaller to a Sig P938. I'm now using a Glock 22 and am much more comfortable with it. Although I guess that has more to do with the holster. Big CC mistake? Skimping on holsters. You do have to carry it all day, spend the pesos and get something very comfy and adjustable.

I don't carry it anymore really. I've never had a failure to feed the years I've had the bersa but I carry the keltec in shorts and can even barely print in tank tops. It's smaller, also 380, and more rugged than the bersa and I trust the brand more. Like you said, depends on weather. The Walther still doesn't print much but because the keltec has a clip on the frame i don't even need to wear a belt or holster so it's the perfect summer carry.

Do you carry ready to fire?

This is a great thread I wish more people would share. I am pretty autistic when it comes to comparing ccw choices. Is grip height the most important factor in concealing or is it width? Should I get a Glock 26 or a Ruger LCP? Should I get a j frame?

Grip height.

G26 vs. LCP vs. J-Frame... whichever you shoot best but of those three I'd say G26.

I went from a full XD to an XDS, both in 9mm. Decision driven by comfort.

I love the XDS and probably will not change it. I do carry the 7, 8, or 9 round mag depending on my dress though. I shoot the 8 and 9 MUCH better thanks to the added grip surface.

When holstered I do, but the keltec I carry with no round chambered. Some people really like the j frame, but I feel that a revolver is just so much thicker than a pistol it's not worth it. I agree about the thread though. Definitely height, as longer grips stick out a lot more, but width is still something to consider with your build and weight. Im 6'5 so I have no problem with a double stack, I just think it's more comfortable with a single. The lcp is great, but so is the 26. That's a question you should answer by renting the both and seeing which you control faster, like the feel of, etc.
