Drill of the Month, Month 2 end of month update edition
This will be a sort of extension of /handgun general/. This month's drill is a simple one, The Test.
The information about the drill is in the OP image, and the next post by me will contain a printer friendly version of the B8 target used.
As an addendum, if your gun holds less than 10 rounds, shoot the drill with you max capacity, and make the par time equal to that. For example, if your gun holds 7 rounds, your par time is 7 seconds, and passing score would be 63 (10% less than the max score).
The point of these threads is to foster the growth of our skill of shooting, and to have a pleasant time shooting. Please, please don't try to fake scores. There is no prize, and lying would only hurt the friendly competition, and your growth as a shooter.
user, glad you tried it out, it's definitely very hard, kinda the point is to help articulate areas of improvement. Loos like 2/3 you had a reasonable hit % - I'd say work on grip strength, sight picture and follow through!
Daniel Lopez
thank you :) i dont shoot pistols often, and i definitely need to practice more
Alexander Martinez
Better than I was when I started! You're not skipping them off dirt, so you're off to a good start.
Good start man, my buddy did way worse when we tried last week, he destroyed his target so I couldn't score it lol Now, go fourth and prosper
Owen Hill
I haven't been able to beat this one, in fact I haven't even come close, and this wasn't even a pass. Either way, all the drills have seemingly improved my shooting. I was at the range today, and magdumping the Shield on the torso target felt pretty easy.
Woke up and already bored with the idea of running the DA/SA P30S - Back to LEM I go

I'll try hang tight
Camden Harris
Bump because I want to see someone do this with a little mouse gun
Jonathan Rivera
I shot it with my LC9S (yes I have a 9rd mag for 9+1). Shot a 70. Was disappoint.
Andrew Reed
I'm done with the Test for now.
Very nice!
I'm glad that you guys hopped in and shot the Test. Despite having done a lot of them in the last month, I still really like this drill. Great for getting some important fundamentals down.
Fucking gud work bro. I hit the indoor range last week but only brought 1 mag per gun due to reasons. Shot this quick with my 10MM bbl in the glockstrocity.
My first attempt at shooting quickly. It didn’t go too well. I have some good targets, but they ended up way over 10 seconds, I used a stopwatch instead of timer.
That's actually not terrible for a first attempt. Get some practice in man, you'll improve a lot in short order up to a point.
Benjamin Murphy
Can I copy the target on some tracing paper? I don't have access to a printer
Ryan Kelly
Whatever gets you shooting, sure.
Camden Wood
Is there a rifle drill?

Make sure you get the rings the right size
Scoring rings are (from edge to edge, reduce by half when measuring from center) X Ring- 1.695" 10 Ring- 3.36" 9 Ring- 5.54" 8 Ring- 8.00" 7 Ring- 11.00" But you can only fit the 8 ring and smaller on printer paper
Not really. We've brainstormed it a few times and had an abortive attempt at one over on /prg/ but seems like there's basically no interest.
Camden Ross
Any idea what next month's drill will look like? Also, do you feel limited when designing these drills? I am very lucky because I live on a ranch and I can set up targets and run and gun in any configuration that I want, but most people do not have that luxury. Lots of ranges wouldn't even be comfortable with you running DOTM #2.

hi hilda

Bring it on
Colton Lee
We are designing them to be as accessible as possible - and yep we are aware that we need to try and cater to the more restrictive shooting options.
Thanks, I figure they're not too shabby for my first couple attempts at DOTM. Probably end up practicing it more this weekend

ETA on aggregated picture?

I don't have a great gun for this, I'm planning on buying a new M9 soon though. I tried it like 5 times anyway and got in the 50s every time. What should I focus on to improve?
David Carter
>What should I focus on Your sights, if you focus on your sights you'll do better, they're more important than trigger work. Grip and sights is 99% of this
Eli Gray
I've always tended to focus on the front sight but recently I'm trying to get used to focusing on the target but lining up the sights (like in this drill) makes it harder to not focus on them. Thanks I'll keep that in mind

We happened to have these targets around, so I didn't bother trying to figure out how to get US Letter onto DIN A4 paper.
Also I shot 2x5 in 5s each because we can't shoot more than five rounds without reloading. Because... idk, Brusseles said so.
