How are flares considered non-lethal? You gonna burn someone's ass into submission with them?

Same with air guns, you gonna shoot a bunch of tiny holes into someone to make them give up?

Pepper spray/mace is incredibly effective and if someone wants to defend themselves but is not mentally prepared to take a life, I highly recommend that to them instead. Always go for the type that sprays a highly pressurized stream. Foam or mist style spray is very easy to avoid or redirect, a big fucking hose sprayed at the face is definitely going to do some damage and debilitate the attacker VERY quickly.

Bean-bag rounds are obviously extremely useful for LE but have little utility for the average citizen since, as far as the law is concerned, once a gun is fired, that becomes intent to use a deadly weapon.

Tasers are very finicky. For one they are one-shot, and for another thing they don't always work. There are plenty of videos of people not being affected much by a taser, and they're fine within a minute or two. Pepper spray fucking LINGERS for hours. You don't walk that shit off.

Pocket sand is a legitimate self-defense weapon. I've spoken with multiple instructors about the idea and they all agree it's a great tactic. Mix up some shit in there like glass shards and habanero powder and you have some legit nonlethal defense that you can easily carry.

Stunsticks, or those electrocuting little remote looking things, are near useless. You have to be within essentially punching distance of the person and they don't stop them at all, just hurt them a lot.

With the 5.5 pictured? you could probably kill someone with it, it's pretty much a .22lr.

With airsofts, if they don't run after seeing the gun, you could shoot their face, eyes, teeth, could mess someone's day.

I used to think pepper spray was a horrible tool for self defense. I thought it was ineffective, slow to work, and wouldn't stop a threat.

Nope, it works, really well in fact. But yeah, it takes a couple seconds to set in. If you can afford that time, it works really well.

Ehh. If I can use it to break legs, or cause major pain and agony, it's okay in my book. Like batons and clubs, but pepper spray is okay too.

As someone who has been pepper sprayed and tasered before. I must agree with this post.
A word of caution however, get it in or around the eyes or else they won't be fully disabled, and for the love of god keep your distance no matter what.

But: in most situations pepper spray is better than shooting someone, because don't kill people you sociopaths.

How quickly would they work anyways?
I can't imagine that to be anywhere close to a minute, or even seconds.

If i'm in a situation where i need to defend myself, i'm in a situation that justifies lethal force. What situation can a civilian be in that doesn't justify lethal force, but is also a self defense situation?

Leave less than lethal crap to the cops.

Pepper spray is a great tool if your enemy doesn't have a firearm. If they do you better have a gun.
