Yes.
If you've see the video of that frenchman, knights could move very well, as well as any soldier today.
You'd need later period gauntlets or gauntlets without the bottom half to work the parts of a moder firearm.
Mit gauntlets would work well if the leather was like that of a glove and less of a mit.
That style (whatever you call it) is used by some long-sword-ers in the HEMA community.
With materials like TELON (or whatever it's called. It's basically aluminum glass), we might even see a form of ballistic 'plate' armor.
And though I doubt anyone would have enough cash or the inclination to make a full set of plate armor light a knight would have worm out of it, if they ever did make a working suit that could be used in combat effectively, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

When dealing with wave formation assaults the answer isn't armour but more gun.
If they are making the effort to run all the way over to you to kill you in melee, and have the numbers to give them confidence to do so, then you won't need the armor if you have something that can hit a large number of easy targets or change targets quickly. In the WWII case: machine guns and flamethrowers.
