Backpack/ Trail gun

Looking for something to plink with when fishing and backpacking up in the mountains. This won't be main defense gun but a backup and plinker.

I know the NAA Hogleg (made in 3", 4" and 6") in 22lr is what I want, however it must be as light as possible, so I was thinking the little 2" model

Anyone ever experience any of these? I like to hold them at shops and would collect them if they were so expensive for being so limited and near pointless

This thing is 12oz. And the 2" models are ~7oz.

Yeah

If just plinking, how about a nice little knock around pellet pistol?

You know what's weird? I made a nearly exact post and mention bringing a Crosman 1377 and everyone was all LOL BRING A GUN FAGGOT

had one of these, you aint stopping shit with that thing

If you're backpacking, choose a single primary firearm that meets your needs and stop there. You need to carry stuff and don't need to be hauling around multiple firearms.

They're not that fun to plink with. Unless by plinking you mean five rounds. It is a novelty and a fun toy to have at the range but if you want a cheap .22 for plinking and don't give a shit about get a Heritage Rough Rider.

Well fuck
A Rough Rider must be an ok plinker

oh shit they have a break open one now? does it eject the casings when you break it open? or do you still have to poke them out one by one

Why not the AR-7?
Those are fun plinkers, but if you also want a back up the AR-7 is probably the best choice. They’re literally made for what you’re doing in mind. They’re also .22 as well so no need to worry about ammo.

they look like good snake guns though? or maybe for the occasional potshot on a squirrel?

it's cheaper than the NAA and you can hold it and hit stuff with it at a distance of more than two feet. For the price it isn't bad.

The NAA has tiny grips and is awkward to hold. Even the "bigger" ones are just awkward. It is also louder than I had expected.

Not saying you shouldn't buy an NAA revolver, they are fun toys, but they're not good for plinking.

I have a regular NAA .22 LR, it's alot of fun to plink with and still semi effective at extremely close distances(under 5 yards)

You can hit a squirrel if he let you get REALLY close and you've practiced point of aim with it

looks like the .22mag is pretty accurate, paul is getting like a quarter size group at 7 yards

pretty much this.
You'd be better off chucking the pistol at the squirrel

OK, going to get a Rough rider once and for all. Theyre on sale at local shop anyways. They're always scratched and I've read when they break you have to take them to a real gunsmith

Herritage Rough Rider in .22LR. You can load it with rat shot for snakes if you want to, and keep some regular .22LR for defense/killing squirrels.

I mean, I wouldn't pick .22LR for defense but I wouldn't want to get shot by it either.

I've got the 1 3/4 or 2" barrel, I can hit 16 oz beer cans weak/strong hand at about 7 yds all day. Drinking Bush lite and shooting my NAA was a good hobby, up until some pesky people got in my business :(

Looks like digits confirm the Rough Rider is the official innawoods plin/k/er

Damn, here’s another set of trips for the Rough Rider
Impressive

the army of the north?

>Goes for trips
>End up with dubs
How'd a nitwit like you get so tasteful?

Oh I'm sure there were some yankees involved somewhere crying about how things are done back home and .22 can go A MILE this madman must be stopped!! .22's from these guns will hit dirt before the .50 yd mark, unless you volley it

Was commenting on Not trying to call my own get

4 3/4" barrel
Or
6 1/2" barrel

I've handled both, have never shot a 22 revolver. The short one feels way more balanced and much lighter

The long one has a longer sight radius, extra weight probably keeps sights still while pulling trigger

I'll let you guys decide

4 3/4" barrel.

Nice. No regrets not getting the 6.5? Would you consider it a tack driving target pistol in the right hands?

So many dubs

Didn't buy it. As for the accuracy, it's pretty good. I'm about as accurate with it as I am with my Beretta Neos. If that counts for anything.

Here's mine that has had some extremely intricate custom detailing done to the hammer
