Like a cheap alternative to a big ass magnum revolver. And instead of $2 a round for. 454 or whatever, a 20ga slug probably has even more power.

Thats true, but you still need a Foster style slug to get the best performance out of a smoothbore. 99.whatever% of slugs marked as "rifled" are Foster slugs anyway, so its easier just to refer to them as rifled slugs
