The only reason I think recreational nukes should be the exception is because nukes are weapons of mass destruction and therefore can't be relied upon to do anything but serve the explicit purpose of mass casualties, since unlike a firearm there is no way to argue that it can be used to kill a specific target and ONLY that target. Ar's are boring as shit, and 5.56 is a useless caliber for rifles.308 is better in all rifle applications. Theres some merit to a 5.56 carbine, but in a scenario id rather a carbine than a rifle, id in turn rather a sbs than sbr.

By adding semiauto firearms to the NFA the language regarding SBRs would be voided since the firearm is already subject to the NFA.

That was part of my point about the Mini-14. Even if there is a difference in accuracy, 90% of gun owners aren't good enough shooters to take advantage of it, especially in an active situation that doesn't involve just sitting at a shooting bench.
