seems kinda cool. are they useful for anything, or just tricks? can you buy a decent one for cheap?

I guess you could edc one but basically the only reason to buy one is for tricks. Most cheap stuff is garbage, but squid industries makes some pretty affordable trainers

yeah there are some for like 30$ those with screws are usually better

Entry level live blades are about 200 ish. Pretty sure you can get a dog bite 3.1 or a maxace for about that much

squidindustries.co/collections/frontpage/products/squiddy they restock every weekend or so

Hm, i might machine my own over christmas break. my dad's got a good shop with a lathe so I reckon i could do it

Can you buy anything decent for cheap?

i actually bought one of the cs-go butterfly knives from elemental knives i think. i had fun with it for a couple months after i put lithium grease on the hinge points so it would flip smoothly. then the screws started backing out i was gunna re locktite them but im lazy and lost interest. but for like 40$ its got really good build quality ive dropped it a bunch on to concrete and it never broke and you can get pretty paint patterns on it and a sharp or dull blade i recommend dull for the first one to get used to it and a sharp one later if you like it.

Csgo knives aren't really the best way to learn, but I guess you can flip whatever you like...
Honestly surprised it held up that well though

You can buy screws, bolts etc from usaknifemaker

meh you can do all the same tricks and i learned on a regular one but its a heavy knife which i liked and was actually really comfortable to hold when open i'd probably buy a sharp one if i could be bothered to. ya i was suprised how well it held up too noting important broke just lost one of the grip scales that was glued on and some of the paint chipped but honestly at 40$ you really cant go wrong on with it everything else i looked at in a starter range that wasnt a piece of shit was a 100$ or more and for dicking around it was great all you'll need is some lubricant, loctite, and some tiny ass torx drivers to do the screws. bottom line is youll be in WAY less than what you would have had to pay for a half way decent normal style butter fly knife.

The scales are fucking glued on? Why????

not the actualy important part. theres a decorative nubbin thing on them that has the same pattern thats on the blade that popped off. there were no issues with any of the structural parts of the knife besides the screws needing loctite after 2-3 months.

No, I spent $27 on a pacific cutlery corp/benchmade I found in the back of an army surplus store I worked at and sold it for $400 lol

Even that was probably too low, i should've never sold that thing.

A 42?

> $200
About half that
$200 used to be about a bm42. Which is the old standard. I'd call knives similar in the mid level, with things higher based on preference.
