I'm looking for my first 308 rifle and was thinking about a Tikka but this price seems too good to pass up. Why shouldn't I buy this?

Did you mean just to attach the barrel link?

savage, mossberg, ruger, all good.

Yup.

Then I'd say as long as the barrel is still free-floating when installed into the stock you've got a good deal. Howa 1500 is a great set of equipment. I personally dislike shorter barrels, but that's just personal taste. Compact bolt actions have their uses, but being the size I am, the "unwieldy" 24" barrels don't bother me.

What stock are you thinking?

This plus a boyd’s stock would make a great all around bolt action rifle

Is this current? Or are you referring to past deals?

I just got it in an email

Whoops just noticed it’s a thank me for my cervix Deal

Compass all the way. Best bolt action for under 500.

Get a 223. Sucks when you can't call your shots have have to have someone else so yerr hitting low or high right, etc. But a 308 heavy barrel should remain on target at medium magnification.

Thank you for your service

I’m thinking about getting a Boyd’s laminate stock for one of my Compasses, but it kinda defeats the point of it’s frugal nature. Plus, the Tupperware stock really is quite comfy, albeit kinda ugly.

Same. I don't hate my Axis stock since carving the plastic an 1/8" away from the barrel, but I would much rather wood

Is that an EGW mount?

Get the Tikka, faggot!

>not buying that Sako barrel for cheap.

Pic related Tikka CTR .308 w/ Stainless steel barrel.

Literally stacking those 168 grain rounds.

Get a Tikka. You won't be disappointed. .308 is good, but .270 is even better.

Yes it is. I might be selling both EGW mount and scope

If the rifle wasn’t as good as it is I wouldn’t waste the money. But it is a nice enough gun to invest a little cash into.

Stop

Tikka and Howa are the two most popular bolt guns in Australia.

The general consensus is that tikka are nicer rifles but Howa is much better value and are a lot more customisable.

As nice as the tikkas are, I can’t get over how they cut corners on their action length, and single stack single feed is a deal breaker for me. The Howa Is a double stack double feed floor plate which means you can easily top up the mag after firing one or two shots. Where as the tikka, you need to take the magazine out and slide more rounds in, then reinsert it if you want to top up.

If you don’t care about the magazine thing then I’d say the tikka is better. Either way, you’re ALWAYS better off handling both rifles and seeing what you like more.

hand made rounds or factory rounds? what brand?

Tikka barrels are essentially sako barrels. They are made in the same line up.

Not sure about howa though.
