Late WW2/early Cold War jets are peak military aviation aesthetic. Prove me wrong.

Commie space magic
Six burnin four turnin
Why didn’t they just give it more jets? Why the combo ?
CANADAir CT-114 Tebuan is a pretty nifty ground attacker though.
Good question, but its probably due to that aircraft being almost late ww2 tech
The Malaysian use her as ground and CAS mission against communist terrorist during 1970s-1980s aided by F-5E and Army Aloutte Gunship.
Jets for raw thrust at takeoff, props for efficient cruise. Early jet engines were super gas hogs.
NACA High-Speed Flight Research Station photograph of the X-5 was taken at Edwards Air Force Base in the mid 1950s.
>flying that gorgeous thing over a breathtaking landscape

>it's the '70s

F-84 Thunderstreak
Does the Mirage count?
AUSTRALIA made CAC Sabre. The first Sabre variant armed with air-to-air missile.
Schwalbe!
HAL Marut. Nazi design for INDIA SUPERPOWER fighter. Good design, but abandoned once INDIAN found the pleasure of being poop outside.
>Mach 2 capable
>4x30mm Canon
>2000lb load
>More aerodynamically than Paki scum Sabre or F-104
Because props were just classier imo.
>While the Marut had been envisioned as a supersonic-capable combat aircraft, it would never manage to exceed Mach One. This limitation was principally due to the engines used, which in turn had been limited by various political and economic factors; multiple attempts to develop improved engines or to source alternative powerplants were fruitless. Criticism of the Marut's cost and lack of capability in comparison to contemporary aircraft were often made.
DESIGNATED
A tad late, but so pretty.

Gee Nigel, your mum lets you have TWO Avons?
>called “Kelly” because he favored green neckties despite his Swedish ancestry
...what?
Yes
btw, in the off chance anyone here was ever on Sembach afb, the display saber got taken down and had an tank put up now that the army took over.
Found out recently it didn't get scrapped. Is on display again at Ramstien
Nope, sorry
six turnin four burnin you goof
When your mig-21 doesn't have a big enough engine.
Who WW1 here?
That is a great big goddamn airplane.
jesus what the fuck is that
Autism
>mig-21
These are actually going for only $150k. I'm thinking of buying one.
Wearing green clothig items was someting done by people with Irish ancestry. Clarence Johnson got that nickname because he was seen as a massive Irishboo.
>These are actually going for only $150k.

Wrong.
This nigga gets it
Draken a cute, Draken a best
They didn't initially have the combo, but it was added later for takeoffs and for when the bomber was over the target. The B-36 was hugefat and took forever to get to altitude, the jets really helped. The problem was that back in the late-40s/early 50's jet engines guzzled american amounts of fuel, so they'd use the props to cruise.
>jesus what the fuck is that
Basically a giant mig-21 built around a mig-25 engine. Was canceled as they couldn't get the engine to last more than a few flights back then.
Tunnan is based
they just look so fucking happy to be flying.
Back when the Swedes were not run by the Feminist Party
Wow, I never realized how old the Mirage is.
I was inside one, there is a galley and bunk beds in the aft fuselage and a transport dolly in a tunnel above the bomb bay
this one looks absolutely fucking terrified to be flying.
D:
2 turnin, 2 burnin;
2 smokin, 2 chokin;
And 2 more unaccounted for.
I can't imagine how crazy it must have been to be a fighter pilot in that brief era when everyone was using jets, but the primary air-to-air weapons were still machine guns.
Real Northrop nigga hours
We gonna rock down to E L E C T R I C Avenue
>we could have had high speed strategic seaplane bombers
Why the cockpit wasn't put on the centre of the fuselage?
Because of cunt, who sits beside pilot under that roof window
I-I don't get it..
>Prove me wrong.
No inlet cones.
The Vixen is twin seater, the "operators" office is side by side with pilot, but deep in fluseage. Also, the cockpit position should provide better view for pilot during navy stuff.
Honestly swedes make some really cool and interesting aircraft
Does this thing count?
Hey guise can i join?
>northrop
Um sweetie, no
sweetie posters should be beaten to death with a coal shovel like an irish housewife
Except they were known for engine fires...
Now thats edgy
Ahem.
Northrop was making powered flights while the Horten brothers were still puttering with gliders
Yup.
wehraboos BTFO again
The influential thing about the 229 is that it's the first jet powered flying wing, not the first flying wing.
Why the heck were the engines over-under rather than side-by-side like a sane engineer would do?
Because the Bongs just have to be different
