The only requirements are that the pistol be in current mass production (no antiques or gucci custom guns) and that you keep budget in mind (nothing ridiculously expensive, this is a tax payer funded endeavor).

It'll be a return to the old days of cops using low cap revolvers and magnum loads. We'll see a lot less reckless police magdumps if the opening salvo is limited to four shots. I don't care how much PCP you're on, if a .458 hits you in the chest you aren't moving for a good long while.
