How retarded am I for wanting to combine the use of a concealable plate carrier and a chest rig?
Possible pros? >less chunky on the outside with the carrier under my clothing >can ditch the chest rig at any time and still have protection >not as much weight swinging around >???
Are the Blackhawk Low-vis plate carriers good? Slick-side+chest rig seems like the way to go and if they're g2g then the $35 they go for seems like a steal. Any other Blackhawk stuff I've bought has been pretty good quality...
Jack Martinez
OP here, I was considering the same carrier. I dont mind its cheapish since it wont be bearing a ton of weight or see much use.
It seemed decent for the money if you aren't going to use it regularly. Otherwise if I was going to have it used on the regular, i would have just used a Blue force gear carrier under my clothing and then added a chest rig on top. You really cant get much lighter or thinner than those, but damn are they pricey.
Adam Nguyen
The price-point just seems too good to be true.
Blackhawk's stuff is considerably better than Rothco/Condor/NCStar airshit in my experience, but this is priced like it's airshit...
Lucas Smith
OP what you're looking for is a low profile or "slick" plate carrier with swift clips. Check out Perroz designs and the Ferro Concepts Slickster.
As for wearing armor under a shirt and chest rig on top I have to ask, why? Are you a patrol officer and wear armor under your shirt anyways? Do you just wanna wear a plate carrier regularly and have ammo on standby to throw on? For regular duty use I don't see the point in wearing a plate carrier under clothing.
Fuck that get something worth your while. Perroz or Ferro Concepts Slickster.
Matthew Wright
It's a great concept for low intensity AOs where grayman is needed, as far as brands I have no recomendation
Jackson Young
Look up spalling. Conceal and not coated or have thicker protection is bad. Basically thin material and a plate get hit with lead the shit will go in all the directions the plate isnt. Up down left right. So Now your either your dick has lead in it, arms have lead in it or your chin got some love too. If you have a solution to that and conceal level then you win the game.
Henry Rivera
>low intensity AO's where greyman is needed if you need armor it's not low intensity enough. Not to mention if you're running around with a rifle in your hands you're hardly a "greyman"
Connor Flores
i got a used police kevlar vest with pockets for plates of 60 bucks, i use it with a russian chest-rig,
Im thinking about this today. getting a black or tan version. I wanna be able to impersonate a cop. everyone else getting plate carriers wants stuff that will last 3 deployments in the sand box. I just want a plate carrier that will be able to have a jacket thrown over it. but yeah Im thinking the exact same thing OP.
side plates are dumb. and as long as I have molle or I can just add to it later with a chest rig.
then again I also think soft body armor may be the way to go 3A is about all Im worried about when we get to rifle rounds that means I need more gear and the shooting started in earnest
anyway, i'm in the same boat as OP. i'd like some kind of concealable plate carrier that does literally nothing except carry plates. no features beyond that necessary. velcro adjustment preferred, fuck buckles. i want something i can wear under a dress shirt.
Jose King
That Perroz is looking pretty sweet, especially with the option of buckles in case I want it worn externally.
The slickster seems thinner and I like the little side pouches for mags and whatnot.
Is there anything I can apply to my current plates? or should I just get new ones and shoot the shit out of current plates?
Chase Ward
Looks like im going to go with the Slickster for the price and the side-bois
also to answer the question., for SHTF as a greyman, but with the option of gear on a seperate chest rig.
Nolan Baker
To expand on OPs question, have you guys seen that bullet proof clothing. Apparently Obama wore it and they make it in all sorts of styles from dress shirts to denim jackets to hoodies. S lot of them have hidden pockets too. A quick search brings up a number of different companies. All seem to be 3a and rated up to 44 Mag but some claim to stop an Ak round. It's expensive starting at around 800$ from what I've seen but might be useful for grayman in the shtf scenario.
My question. What happens it you double up on lvl 3. Say a police type under a polo shirt and then one of the hoodies over that. Would doubling up be able to stop a .223?
Or do the ballistic make it not work? Here's one example
Why exactly? Is it the velocity of bullet or both? What about slower moving rifle rounds? Would it give any protection, doubling up that is, or just be a waste. Just generally curious and don't know shot about this topic.
Bentley Howard
I think the general idea is that the IIIa “catches” the bullet and displaced the energy a 5.56 I think travels to fast and is to small for the Kevlar weaving in it to stop the bullet.
I may be wrong and if I am someone please correct me but that’s my understanding of it
Adam Nelson
Different armor materials work in different ways. Ceramic destabilizes and absorbs energy, so it has no specific weakness. Steel bounces, shatters or undergoes plastics deformation, so its weak against very high velocities or densities. Soft armor works by catching the bullet like a net.
It's weak against high-speed and pointy things, so virtually any smokeless rifle round overmatches its velocity threshold. 5.56 will zip right through.
Angel Torres
Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
Justin Clark
There is spalling sleeves. Issue is they increase the thickness and only work after a few shots.
Cooper Bell
Correction: Only work for a few shots. After that spalling injuries are going to be an issue.
Ryder Wood
Backpack guns are a thing
Henry Rodriguez
I’m doing the same. Mayflower lpac. I have plates and a gen4 chest rig already. Just saving up for the soft armor and lpac
Jason Hernandez
Whats the weight like compared to anti-spawl lining? I don't plan on getting shot repeatedly.
Charles Lewis
anti-spall sleeves are basically thinner kevlar. No real weight to them but adds thickness.
Good luck waiting for it to be in stock. Been on that fucking llist for 6 months now
Angel Morgan
They're fine.
Adam Stewart
what can you put on the velcro fronts of vests like these? like whats all the velcro across the body for? are there attachments for velcro like that?
Jason Wood
Keeps the shit you strap to it from swinging around.
Adrian Foster
>Why exactly? BFS
You are not wrong.
Hudson Rodriguez
no I mean can you attach stuff to velcro? its not molle how does it work?
they have velcro mag pouches like for kids?
Jeremiah Hernandez
Small shit i guess but i don't think thats its primary purpose. The lower velcro is mostly for elastic velcro vest strap adjustment. Upper for like patches and shit
Joseph Sanchez
ahhhhhhhhhh
Asher Gutierrez
It's mostly for patches. Though there are other things you can put there like shotgun shell cards.
Jace Evans
you'd be on the ground after the first, then your balls and face get the rest
James Reed
anyone ever use those skeletonized plate carries? are they a meme or nah
Kevin Anderson
or you can just stop being poor and invest in ceramics
Asher Harris
I have a blue force gear plateminus. I use a triple mag pouch on front for AR mags, and put everything else on a belt.
Adam Price
some guy was selling one on armslist do you recommend?
Ryan Sanchez
It's good quality and I like it. A lot of people think the side strap is too thin tho. It's 1", where most minimalist plate carriers are 1.5-2". But it does have an elastic segment, so no bouncing problems like cheap carriers.
Asher Green
are there anyones without faggot velcro maybe some molle?
I'm getting the haley micro and a flatpack plus. Don't think anyone's ever replied to me with my own pic before. Sus.

Im a big fan Im the terror wave guy that goes with facepaint and indian war bonnets not enough style or fun in terrorwave aesthetics needs more mad max stuff
Im still shopping for a plate carrier that isnt fuck huge
literally nobody has backpack guns in actual AO's retard.
Perroz's do have similar cummerbunds to the slickster. In terms of thickness they're around the same and both can be worn concealed (vid related is perroz being worn concealed)
molle is a meme user, get with the times swift clips and chest rigs are the way of the future
also Crye JPC
Isaac Johnson
Big recommendation for First Spear.
Their shit is top quality and if you plan your equipment loadout and spend only on what you need, you can walk away with some gucci shit in relatively decent price points.
The Slick and Deceptor are two vests they officer that are low profile, but if you want something that's low-key but also scale-able to be an actual PC, they offer the Ragnar though you'll be paying for it. I've used their cummerbunds for retrofitting my platecarrier and have been nothing but impressed with the quality and thought that goes into their shit, but don't just take my anecdotal shilling.
Do your homework and buy within your budget if you're trying to be thrifty

I'm packing your mothers back, operating in the area between her legs, pussy.
Gabriel Nguyen
I know theres a jewtube channel with some ex green beret named Carl who shot doubled up panels of 3a kevlar sitting in a back pack made for it.
I'll have to do some searching, cant 100% remember If he blasted it with a rifle/if it stopped it/what load was using it it did occur.
I too am curious about such things. Not that I'd want to double up on kevlar cause that would suck.
Is there a reason go go with a separate plate carrier and mag holder? It seems lots of the plate carriers have MOLLE webbing so why not just get the carrier and attach mag holders to that?

does anyone own one of those bare bones blackhawk plate carriers? they look like they cant handle plates. are they the real deal or airsoft shit?
what kind of molle can you actually put on a minimal plate carrier?
I mean even if you just wanted a mag pouch it would be straight across your chest under your chin. any pics of a minimal PC setup with molle attachments?
Logan Nguyen
I'm going to need you to look up what MOLLE is, then come back.
Brody Collins
I feel like having mag pouches and stuff near the bottom would be fine
