What gun would you take with you if you were bugging out in a region with grizzlies and moose, etc?

10mm glawk

Did you even watch the video, that bear would eat the whole magazine without batting an eyelash.

Literally this.

what are you even talking about, he was downed with one bullet. Mag dump to the face of any handgun will down any animal except like an elephant

.45-70. Load it hot.

why do people obsess over cartridges so much? there are only 3 cartridges you need.
>9mm for short pew pew
>5.56 medium pew pew
>308 winner harder and longer pew pew
you've got to be a special kind of autist to deviate from these three

Attached: 2l34qnvmlhj11.jpg (750x1334, 91K)

three is an odd number

.22lr
12.7mm

3.5" 12 gauge with slugs, .45-70 or something at least as strong as a .308 Winchester.

>need
Fuck off faggot

>9mm
>5.56

>you've got to be a special kind of autist to deviate from these three

You’ve got be a special autist to actually believe what you believe and type how you just typed.

I've tried to limit my gun purchases of guns outside the loadings I already own, since it gets more expensive to keep buying multiple types of ammunition.

All my handguns eat 9mm, and the lions-share of my rifles eat .30-06.

.30-6
.40

Live in MT and use 3" brenneke slugs when camping.

I would suggest something in 30-06. The government of Svalbard (island state inside the Arctic Circle) did university research on the best firearm methods for polar bears.

Their conclusion was a bolt action 30-06 and shooting the bear in the heart.

Personally, I would rather save up for a lever action in that caliber.

Probably 95% of the people you're gonna meet /out/ in Alaska or Canada who carry occupationally are gonna be carrying a 12ga loaded with slugs.

So, there you go. They don't bother with niche boutique calibers and neither should you.

12 ga, same as anywhere else. Fuck, you people are clueless.

C308/G3/FAL/ any fucking battle rifle chambered in .308
.44 mag revolver
remington 870
and maybe the tried and true nugget

Lever action .45-70 and a .44 mag revolver.

Attached: the rifleman rapid fire lever action.gif (291x188, 2.85M)

Michiganfag here, can guarantee that that graphic is BS.

Fucking this. Get yourself a battle rifle or a shotgun and you're good to go.

Literally zero confirmed grizzly sightings in Michigan.

Attached: Naw.gif (281x295, 2.97M)

In bear country most people carry 357 magnum minimum. In moose country I'd want a 45-70 government minimum. People who have never seen a bull moose in person can't even comprehend how huge they are. They're also angry and far more likely to attack than a bear.

Fuck this graphic, there are black bears in every single state in the US and the extend much further into Mexico than shown.

Elephant wouldn't survive a mag dump of my TUMBLERS

>Black bears
>Nevada

Pick one boy.

The frontier justice. Slugs.

Or a spas 12 armed with slugs and faggot's breath.

ndow.org/Species/Furbearer/Black_Bear/
>The American Black Bear is the only bear species occurring naturally in Nevada. Range includes mountainous areas and foothills of Lake Tahoe, the sierra Nevada mountains and nearby mountain ranges in extreme western Nevada.

if you count zoos maybe
>t. NDfag

That's maps wrong, there are bears in South Saskatchewan. So don't trust it.

Kimber... 1911

Assuming I can only bring one I'd just bring my AK with a bunch of mags and ammo. Anything that can stand up to a 40 round dump is going to kill me regardless of what I'm packing. It'll do the job with proper shot placement for hunting.

Floridaman here, black bears exist everywhere in this state except the keys and some of the barrier islands.

If a bear poops in the woods on top of a mountain and there's no humans within 100 miles of it, does it really exist?

Also, yes, NV has bears but not near populated areas in the state, AZ and NM have a fuckton of black bears. The last known Mexican grizzly bear in the USA was shot in Arizona in 1933 at 33.5°N in the White mountains of eastern Arizona.

I mean mayyybe, I almost hit a cougar with my truck in New Hampshire a few years ago but "they don't live here" either.

Depending on what budget I'd have,
for higher caliber I'd get a repro BAR and cut off the shitty wwii mods to make it practical. For mid caliber I'd probably go with a fal, and a pw87 for blasting, a .357 mag for sidearm and maybe a sig 552 for anything else.

Some Winchester or an M80.
Keep a CZ on you for close range

that's got to be more of an exception than a rule

.300 Win Mag

Yea ik, but they are so unheardof out here I thought I could make a joke.

It's a big moose but not unheard of. Most are larger than horses. Even a yearling is horse sized.

>staying in the continental US
>worrying about bear and not meth heads on public land

>going north
>worrying about bear and not moose

>going really north
>not worrying about musk ox

i guess this is your first time out of your house / the city OP?
if you're adamant on just a pistol, in moose country 10mm or greater w/ hard cast or solid copper. in non moose country 9mm works fine.
if can carry anything, 12g or .308 or greater

no, moose are a fuck all big and dumb as all hell. they have shitty eyes and not the best hearing so its easy to startle them which leads them to be super aggressive.
>thats got to be an exception
"average" male moose (which includes the smaller ones from the western lower 48) are 6ft at teh shoulders. northern variety are larger.

> The largest confirmed size for this species was a bull shot at the Yukon River in September 1897 that weighed 820 kg (1,808 lb) and measured 2.33 m (7.6 ft) high at the shoulder
some of the old yukon gold times claimed well over 2000lbs and about 8ft, but who knows. average yukon moose is like7ft at the shoulders still

Know of an area that had a bull that would be about that big. Each antler was over 4' across and his kids are absolutley massive.

easy now! You want something left so you can eat it, don't you?

>black bear
More scared of you than you are of it. Keep your distance, don't leave food out and make noise to avoid startling one.

>polar bear
Those things are, no shit, probably nature's greatest killing machine. Huge, camouflaged in their habitat (and practically invisible on thermal) and best avoided entirely. Which isn't that hard, because they primarily live in the frozen asshole of nowhere that would kill most people in a matter of days, if not hours.

>moose
There's only two times you really need to be concerned about moose: running into a cow and calf, or a bull during the rut. Best defense below a .375 H&H Mag is climbing the biggest fucking tree you can find and waiting for it to get bored and leave. Will also destroy any vehicle that hits one and seriously fuck up any passengers inside unless it's in the same size class as a semi. They are, however, delicious.

>grizzly bear
I'm on the wrong side of the continent to know anything about grizzlies/brown bear, but anything that can run at 35mph and weigh up to 1500lbs+ is something I do not want to fuck with.

ar15

>Lugging around a BAR
Even the HCAR, which is a lightened BAR, is a fucking pig at 12 lbs.

Genuine question, how would slavshit rounds stack up against bears?

here's my expectation
7.62x39
>ballistically similar to 30-30, decently effective for frontiersmen in the past, HP's probably would do a lot of damage and the 7.62x39s notorious barrier destruction might mean bear-ier destruction

5.45x39
>likely ineffective unless cavitation causes a big enough wound channel, probably better than 5.56 due to heavier bullet weights

7.62x25
>if you magdump you'll probably get a decent amount of blood loss / organ damage, and it'll penetrate much better than 9milimemer or .45. not the best pistol round for bears but could work with proper shot placement and followup shots.

The colt monster was 13 pounds even with its chunky bits, I think it's fair to say with a bit of modification a standard 1918a2 could be cut down to a reasonable weight

5.45 is all around less effective then 5.56, it's a smaller caliber being .21 vs .22, and has much less powder capacity.

There are black bears in northern alabama now

10mm for pew pew
7.62x51 for hard pew pew
.45 in a suppressed tacticool for very quiet arctic infiltration pewpew to stop a nuclear weapon from firing nukes.

Me personally? Mossberg 500, Glock 20 with some hardcast 10mm.

Youre right, 62 grain 5.56 is gonna be way better than your average 60 grain 5.45. I got confused thinking that shitty steelcase 55 grain was my only option in 5.56 lol

For practibility and low maintenance you'll want
>Scoped bolt action .308 rifle for the reliability and your hunting shit anyway
>357. Magnum for bear defense.

I already live in the Yukon

M1 Garand or M14
Mossy 500 12ga

Anything else is a waste of time

Neither of those will kill a wendigo. You're a dead man.

>5.56

What if I use 5.45 instead of 5.56

The furthest south of Saskatchewan I've heard of bears being seen is round lake area, I dont know what you're on

Only one gun? Pump shotgun

They came south along rivers, and now they're in the Qu'Appelle valley. Also in parks.

Please tell me about those Hawaiian black bears user.

>moose fucking up vehicles
Can confirm, they'll fucking kill you 90% of the time, and sometimes the dumbshits will just ram the side of your vehicle as you're driving, throwing you into the ditch. However, a woman I went to school with smoked a moose at 50mph in a vw beetle and wasnt she went unharmed. The only way to survive the moose is to drive a beetle

More you know. Although desu south Saskatchewan needs bears, besides pilot butte rodeo, that region is boring af

Being the rifleman is ez you just put a screw in the lever so it presses on the trigger when you close the lever

Doesn't cover brush, add .44

Spas 12. Two guns in one.

are you guys retarded or something?

dnr usually says that shit because some dumb fudd will go out and kill most of the likely small population that are in the area.
