Hi Jow Forums, I'd like to know your thoughts on something. I was at a shooting range yesterday and I wasn't allowed to use the magazine on the rifle I was shooting, the range officer made me load it as if it were a single-shot. He also would not let me load the gun until I had shouldered it. We also weren't allowed to shoot standing up, we were only allowed to fire from the prone position.
Is it just me or does this all seem overly formal? Keep in mind that I'm in the UK and this was my first time at an outdoor shooting range. Pic unrelated
Well that's fucking weird, why on earth would they have rules like th-
>Keep in mind that I'm in the UK
Oh, I see.
I am so sorry. Next time I go out to the desert to shoot my guns free and without restriction like God intended, I'll make sure to mag dump upside-down while shotgunning a budweiser for you, my UK friend.

Call the range master a cunt and proceed to shoot a full mag from the hip. also >he shoots at a range
I joined a shooting club a month ago. I don't actually own any guns yet, I have to rent them from the club storage. I won't be eligible for a firearms license for another six months
>this was my first time at an outdoor shooting range This explains it, OP. If the range officer knew you were a new shooter then he probably didn't trust you not to do something retarded.

self-bumps don't work from the same IP. Use your phone's mobile data or another network.

>1 bullet at a time >Not loading until shouldered >Prone only Those are basically Boy Scout shooting rules >first time at an outdoor shooting range Yeah, the RO probably thought that you were a retard and was making extra sure that you don't kill yourself or someone else because that would cause problems for the range if you did, especially in the UK
>other people being less fortunate than me is funny

>UK Well now. Theres yer problem.

Fair enough. From his perspective I'd probably do the same thing

>the range officer made me load it as if it were a single-shot. Probably thinks you're going to go on a mass shooting, or perhaps he even thinks you want to commit suicide so he is making sure you only have one to shoot yourself with Did you go by yourself?

>tfw I realize my nearest rang is as strict as a literal bongland range >tfw WA anons will know what im talking about >its kenmore range
>be noguns because of spending too much time abroad to be able to spare time and money >be staying in Moscow for a month >friends invite to a shooting range that lets you rent guns >go with 10 PU nugget shots, 1 AR-15 mag and 2 P-226 mags for a total of like 50 bucks >clumsily load them up, only had had AK training, ages ago >range officer is watching from a couple of steps away >somehow manage not to spill any spaghetti, maintain td, load the nugget the second time without fumbling, like a good conscript >can't see where the shots are landing and bring back the wrong target afterwards but overall enjoyable >get to shoot from both standing and sitting position >no real restrictions aside from having to wear eye and ear protection (not rigidly enforced) or doing something stupid like pointing a gun where you shouldn't >AR-15's barrel is worn out to hell so not much of rifling left (got a discount when renting because of this though) >boolits tumble in flight hitting the 50m target at funny angles leaving weird holes but the process is still just as satisfactory and the grouping is tight enough for a first time, I guess >at some point of going through the mag and trying different postures, the range officer comes up from behind and shouts "Johnny, they're in the trees" >okay, thanks for the extra immersion >proceed to the pistol range, enjoy the P-226 >watch friends finish with their (semiauto, alas) RPK and 12ga Saiga >looking around, all sorts of people visit the range, there's what appears to be a group of teenagers from a shooting club and a guy with a 8 y.o. daughter >friends are done, the range is clear, pick up the targets, compare results, share impressions, go on to spend the rest of the evening together, >take a flight home the next morning Pretty fun/10, would do again. Looks like the range now lets you rent civilianized VSS too, but iirc that one's a far cry from the real thing, may still give a try next time though.
