Hand cannons

Does every collection need one? Buddy got a desert eagle and now I'm itching to get some. In my price range, a 357.

I'd like it to be able to reach FARRR

Like 357 for 38spl cheapness, however if it's considered weak by today's terms then I'm willing to go 44mag

What do you mean you would like to reach far? Long range?

Yeah long range we have a spot that goes out to ~250 yards or so.

The most fun firearm I own is my 6" GP100 with light .38s. Hardly a hand cannon with that, but really fun to plink with. Hot .357 hits the plates with some authority.

I like to plink with .357 at >100yds, since the extra sight radius really helps hit silhouettes. Makes me wish SBR laws weren't a thing, because a folding wire stock would be really nice on it.

Thanks. Looking for a 6" for sure. Yeah I've see older guys at ranges seem to love scoped big bore revolvers. Do you rest it on sand bags or a special rest or what?

No strictly off hand, or kneeling, and occasionally sitting. I use plates in a few different sizes, from 14" to torso size. With proper trigger control full size revolvers can be pretty precise.

I wish Pythons werent so fucking expensive

Get a micro draco instead of a revolver

If you really want an extreme gun, get a 460. You can shoot 45 colt out of it more cheaply and it'll be MILD, but the 460's are intense and FAST. There are 2k+ FPS 200gr loads out there pretty commonly, and more extreme loads will push ~300gr ~1900-2000. Those guns will REACH.

If you want to keep things more reasonable, get the 357. Loved my Match Champion, and I wasn't really left wanting for power. 38's were like nothing out of it.

I love my 686 so much, but .357 is not a hand cannon

.357 Magnum is not "hand cannon" tier.

I'd love to have a 6.5" stainless SW 629 44 mag in my collection. There are just so many other guns that I'd drop $900 on first.

I love shooting my Redhawk. .44 specials have no recoil and .44 mag is no big deal.

Those are like $600 used.

RedHawks are great, mine with a 7.5" barrel doesn't hurt to shoot at all and the recoil isn't hard to work with, accurate too. Just remember the longer and heavier the barrel the less recoil. if you want something that just kicks, and is fun to hand over to a normie to see their face after shooting it, get a shorter lighter gun.

Yeah, that's what mine IS. My last girlfriend had no trouble with full .44 loads an hour after learning how to shoot a gun on a .22 pistol.

357 is not a handcannon, at all. 44 is not particularly bad unless you're rolling with a Scandium framed piece. 454 Casull, 460 Mag and 500 are "hand cannons".

>800 ft/lbs out of a 6 inch revovler doesnt qualify as hand cannon
yet again Jow Forums is the worst weapons forum on the internet

Try 1100 with a 44, 2000 with a 454, or 2800 with a 460.

I'd recommend a Ruger Blackhawk. Its single action, but still a good gun.
There's .45 ACP and .45 Colt, .357, and .44 variants.

Any pistol cartridge will experience significant velocity loss and bullet drop at 250 yards. Heck, 30-30 out of a rifle barrel is at the edge of its useful range there.
