It's not. There are several examples of women being remarkable warriors and commanders even before WWII, such as Boudica and Nadezhda Durova, and modern firearms make up for difference in physical strength.

They wernn't lying. Katyn was done by germans and there are exhumation reports that prove it. If poles would be so sure about Katyn being soviet crime, they would exhume all the bodies, and as far as I know, they never finished this job and don't plan to start again.
