My Remington 1100 is locked up. I fired two shots with it today. The first went fine but the bolt carrier didn't move back. I was able to manually pull back the bolt carrier to eject it with no issues. The second shot fired but the shell is stuck in there and will not come out. Nobody at the range was sure what to do. I cannot pull back the bolt carrier now.
There is a spent shell in there. The barrel seems attached to the bolt carrier, they are moving together. Do you have any suggestions Jow Forums?
Based on the serial number I believe it's from 1960s. Also, it's the magnum model.
I've put hundreds of rounds through it without issue and always cleaned it carefully after use.
Nope. I fired the rest of the box of shells through a different 12 gauge and had no problems.

Do this at the range or in a safe direction. Lay the shotgun on a table such that the bolt handle is face down leaning against the lip of the table or counter. Give the gun a quick push from the back and the bolt should go back, allowing you to remove the shell.
Austin Sanders
Stand it up next to you and stomp on the bolt handle like American History X
If it breaks buy a Winchester.

Sorry - I should have mentioned we tried this at the range and it did not work. I've freed up stuck bolts doing this before, so I know it has to be done pretty hard sometimes. It's like the barrel and bolt are really stuck together.
Julian Morgan
You did not hit it hard enough.

what int he fuck is with that barrel. its not even fucking connected right. looks like someone didn't put it together right, fired it, and the bolt rammed itself into the barrel mouth. how the fuck?

Couple questions OP Is the tuning fork moving freely? Can you remove the barrel?
Aaron Rodriguez
you were on bath salts werent you
Kayden Thompson
My guess is the bolt isn't sitting on the carrier correctly. Remove the barrel.
Henry Diaz
Hold the barrel and firmly plant the butt on the ground to reseat the barrel

Haha. OP was taking the shotgun down, took the forend off then took the trigger assembly out by pulling the trigger & trigger guard, it fired, sent the bolt forward into the loosened barrel and lodged itself and OP is trying to play it off as a range malfunction. He probably has a hole in his wall.
Carson Gray
This is with the barrel pulled forward my lads. With the barrel in normal position it doesn't look like that.
Carter Richardson
Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Angel Phillips
OP here, my friend came over. We pulled on opposite ends of the gun. I pulled the butt stock. He pulled the barrel. The gun came apart. I'm still not sure what caused all these problems. Something with the carrier maybe? I'll take a look at it tomorrow, give it an extremely thorough cleaning and inspection, and then take it to the indoor range that allows shotguns to blast some rounds through it and make sure it's cycling correctly.
