What is Jow Forums's opinion on the Chiappa M1 in 9mm? I know it doesn't have a manual lock back which is retarded. I've heard that they tend to have lots of jams. Is this an across the line problem or maybe a lemon? Can it be put in a M1A1 stock or does it need a lot of modification to do so? Or is it an utter waste of money and I should just save up for a Winchester or IBM
Chiappa M1 9mm
Just get a Ruger if you want a 9mm carbine.
UNLESS
It's the paratrooper carbine.
Then you've got sex.
They’re lemons and you’d be better with just getting a Ruger PC9. Yes, I’d love for Chiappa to get their head out their ass and be a decent gun maker but their 9mm M1 is universally known to be dogshit. Avoid at all costs.
>blowback 9mm m1 carbine
no
what a fucking retarded idea
the whole selling point of the m1 is it is locked breach
This. The Chiappa 9mm carbines are known to be complete garbage. Check oone out side by side with an actual carbine or the Ruger PC9. The choice will be obvious.
As for M1 carbines in .30, the USGI ones are expensive but some of the earlier commercial models are OK. If you can get an early Universal with USGI parts it'll be a lot cheaper. The later ones tend to be problem children.
Local gun store has 2 M1s, one is an IBM the other is a Winchester. The IBM one has rust on part of the bolt, don't know if that is cause for concern or not. The IBM one is 1099 and the Winchester one is 1199.
The only thing more dangerous than this is the m1-22, mine shoots gasses and unburnt powder back into your face every 3-4 rounds. The sights are also plastic and useless
>tfw no wood stock Pc9
I'd get the IBM one just to email IBM's customer support to ask for help with it.
>Yeah I got a product you guys made in 1943.
>It's a bit rusty and I could use a few replacement parts?
>No, I know you no longer support typewriters.
>It's not a typewriter.
All joking aside ~1k is going rate for USGI carbines and if it's just surface rust use some Hoppes #9 and 0000 steel wool. It should come right off without damaging the finish.
>only option for a m1 carbine is praying to find a not shit one on the secondary market
>rossi 92's unobtanium
>henrys have no loading gate
>1873 clones are $1000+
I JUST WANT A SUB 5 POUND LOCKED BREACH IN A POWERFUL STRAIGHT WALL CARTRIDGE
>muh loading gate
Stop it. Henry is a billion times better than a Marlin. Just deal with the old tube loading style.
Guy who got one specifically to fix up. Out of the box it is a disappointing mess. Plastic rear sights, metric parts sizes, plastic non spec bayonet lug, weighs a ton, and uses just so many bad shortcuts. Chiappa is the king of 80% boners, they get you excited but never finished. Buy it only as a project. It was fun. If the thread is up later I'll post mine
>International Business Machines
Killing Nazis is my business, and cousin...business is good.
Henry has no excuses not to pick a clearly better design
>yet
I would rather buy a Miroku 92, $900 but only one place has them.
I intend on looking at Handling a henry but no gate kills any real interest in the gun.

Ugh, I had one of these pieces of shit, guy I bought it from said it worked OK and so I thought it had been weeded out from the lemons. Nope, it was a complete piece of shit. It would never cycle bargain bin 9mm even with good Mec-Gar magazines which were recommended for use in it. And using hotter, better quality 9mm it cycled maybe half of the time. The best part is it failed in every way possible, stovepipes, stuck bolt, all of that. Don't buy one of these, they aren't worth the hassle. A 9mm M1 Carbine style rifle that worked well would be awesome but this isn't it.
gas delayed blowback is your friend
Have one.
It runs without a problem, but it's a real POS.
Shitty trigger, front sight is shit. Only works with the original mags. Tried a gazillion aftermarket mags. Non worked. Bolt hold open is a fucking steel pin locking in the zinc alloy frame...
Don't buy it. I'm converting it to sten mags and building a new trigger
