>Go to cocksmellers to pick up a 22 rifle and some coon traps >Shit is disorganized, racks are empty >Approach the used gun section >Think about picking up an overpriced beat to shit Marlin 22 >Old guy zooms in my face and yells if he can help me >Walk away, looking at trap section >Everything I want is out of stock >Some cheeky monkey comes up and asks if I have a Cabelas credit card >Look behind long gun counter, looks like they might have a Savage 64F, but there's a porch monkey clerk upselling the shit out of errbody and trying to banter niggerishly with them. >Say 'fuck it' and leave empty handed
Place is pretty nice whenever I go there. Their gun library looks entirely different than what's listed on the website with a much better selection. Ammo discount is pretty sweet. Staffs nice, and helpful.
Angel White

I don't go to those places like Cabelas or Bass Pro anymore. They seem to cater mostly to rednecks. t. hillbilly
Charles Lee
I’ve never had a bad experience there. I even Jew a used gun down there
James Wright
Cabela's credit card is actually pretty good. It's through Capital one, mine has like a $15,000 limit and 16.9% variable APR for general purchases, which doesn't matter because I pay it off at the end of each month. Then again it is the only credit card I have.
Tyler Nguyen
How are the rewards?
Luke Rivera
Yeah but how 'bout that fudge huh?
Jacob Baker
other than an understandably jumpy dude running the gun check, I haven't had any bad experiences at cabelas. We need family friendly stores if we want more gun owners.
Liam Hall
I bet you go to one of those half sized Cabelas. The one we have in Ft Worth is HUGE.
Gun cost is usually on the high end, but every now and then you find a gem they mispriced. One time my buddy found a pre 1950 Weatherby. Cabelas thought it was some bubba converted war time k98k and listed it for $350. My friend immediately bought it, and contacted Weatherby about it. They started freaking out, because of how early/rare it was. He ended up reselling it for $3k.
Last year I found a non-rearsenal, non-import marked, matching, wartime 91/30 for $300. Sold it for $800.
If you really know your milsurps and old guns, you find shit like that all the time.
Thomas Thomas
I went to a Bass Pro Shop for the first time last month. Apparently I was expecting much, much more than what I encountered. Boring Fudd guns as far as the eye could see and everything else in that store overpriced.
this both cabelas and bass pro are for boomer fudds
Leo Miller
Bass pro is ruining cabelas... I haven't gotten a coupon or cabelas bucks since they took over.
Angel King
And now ever since that incident at Academy Sports, these places now have a policy against removing the trigger locks so you can't dry fire any of them.
These are boomer fudd stores for milking out that 401k. The kind of dumbfuck that spends hundreds of dollars on a box to hold icewater drenched Budweiser. Yes many have great atmosphere but god damn are you paying for it.
Nicholas Lewis
Wow, racist much? Glad you didn't get another gun, who knows what you'd do with it. Back to your containment board, tad/pol/.

I have a fondness for cabelas because I bought my first rifle there on my 18th birthday, an ol sporterized enfield for $100 in the used rifle section

> this I actually use my Cabela's card, because the two others have been traded to CITI and they screw with the rates and my rights. I even got a refund check in the mail today because CITI "oopsed" a few years back when I had a balance.
"Cash back" points towards Cabela's purchases on mine. Probably not all that useful in comparison, but I've used it more than my other cards because I can actually find something worth using the points on. Usually reloading stuff.
> It really sucks that I have several hundred dollars in rewards points, but nothing I charge qualifies. The AMEX was helpful for the $25 baggage fees on airlines, but not overall worth it for how often I fly.
Austin Jackson
Sometimes deals can be had. I bought a like new Marlin XT-17 with scope and bipod on it for $150. My Beretta Neos was $210 on clearance in store, and I got my APX for $475 because they fucked up the price tag.
Other than that the people in the gun library can be a pain in the ass, if you are under age 30 prepare to be ignored when you want to seriously ask about a gun while they talk to a random boomer for half an hour about nothing. At least the new gun counter staff will actually show you a gun and not sperg out about other brands or retarded opinions like some LGS's can. can
Henry Campbell
The best way to have a good experience at Cabela's is to go in expecting everything to be way overpriced. A couple of my best deals on guns were there: a S&W 469 for $200 and a new savage 12 with a heavy 26" barrel in 6.5 mememoor for $220 after rebate. Also got a nice pair of short shorts that fit in nicely with my bush war larping gear. Got a nice compact hammock that comes with all the suspension stuff for $30 too. Those are the only purchases I've made in the dozens of times that I've been in that I've been really happy with though. I usually just go in to kill a half hour or so playing with guns and stuff. Buying stuff is a pain because they badger you to get their shitty credit card like I'm some pleb that doesn't get 2% back on everything everywhere. >t. blogposter
Michael Wilson
Cabelas, Bass Pro & Gander is all overpriced as fuck. I buy my guns from Armslist, Academy and look for deals at small local stores.

Cabelas is pretty trash when it comes to guns desu. I live in Austin and have gone to the Buda one countless times. They have a large selection of stuff but most of it is always way overpriced, though there’s the occasional mispriced gem in the used section/library. Typically when I go there it’s for a larger ammo selection than Academy or because someone gave me gift cards.
My biggest issue is the staff. Almost everyone I’ve delt with in the firearms department is the stereotypical overweight, white, fudd boomer. Loudly spewing fuddlore bias about merchandise they seem to actually know next to nothing about. Occasionally rude and condescending or just flat out blows anyone off who doesn’t seem like a redneck fudd like them. Pretty sure they think I’m like 18-20 despite being in my mid 20s but the again they probably act like that to anyone under 30.
I unironically have a better time dealing with people at the knife counter. At least they actually seem to know a few things about what they’re selling. And they don't act like uppity albino niggers who are too lazy to do their job if you ask to check out more than one item, when the department is devoid of customers.
Tyler Howard
Hamburg PA store is OK but prices suck. I just wait till thier is a special on ammo or something

How the fuck is two individuals meeting up to trade in person equal to getting scammed by the jews? Getting scammed by the jews and being a good goy would be buying a $3,000 gun on credit and making the minimum payment on it so it takes you 10 years to pay off and ends up costing you $10,000.
Parker Diaz
If you move the price label at mine then complain at the register that it's more expensive than listed they'll have someone go check them give it to you for the lower price anyway lol.
Dominic Campbell
You'd get more (you)s if you toned your bait down a little
Wyatt Sullivan
I don't recall having such awful experiences there but then again my experience mostly consists of "go in look around exchange greetings leave because they've got nothing I want" Although there was that one time when the counter fudd was visibly annoyed when they saw a young guy like me standing near the glass counter, greets me with a stern gaze asking if I'd like to buy one of their $1000 revolvers.

Also Academy has gone to absolute shit. Everything is overpriced. Good gun stores are hard to come by these days

Went to a newer one up in northern OH the other day. Upon walking was the door get an ear shattering “HI, WHAT BRINGS YOU IN TODAY” by a 20-something year old gal with a grin ala cock mongler, tell her I’m just browsing. “WELL ARE You a Cabela’s...” I hear fading out as I walk back to the gun counter. See an M9A3 I’d like to finger fuck. Stand patiently while one employee is trying to sell a Taurus Judge to two Mexicans. All of a sudden feel this line pulling on my leg and realize this kid on a tard leash attached to some hambeast is trying to take me down like an AT-ST in Star Wars. She doesn’t seem to care as she’s busy getting in her trailer trash boyfriends selfie of the shitty AR .22 clone they just bought. Fuck it, walk over to the gun library. Shit loads of fuddy fives, import mosins for 399, and side by sides that were there two months ago the last time I stopped in.
Dylan Wood
Tomorrow is my last day working at the cabela's. Been there for a year and a half, started a few months before the bass pro take over. I enjoyed working there the first few months when it was still fully cabela's mostly fully staffed, a decent selection of shit, price not great but would price match and decent employee discounts and killer industry discounts.
Now a days I hate working there due to lack of staffing, hiring of unqualified staff (Not even a water of the gun counter guys know the entire selling process fully), poor scheduling, poor wages, poor management, shitty credit card quota requirements, and having to deal with shit customers. (about 20% of the customers are morons and assholes, I'm not kidding).
I really wouldn't recommend buying most stuff there anymore. Cant' try the trigger before you buy anymore, no military or first responder discount on guns and ammo and other related items, library no longer has a 10 day warranty on used guns, pricing has changed to bass price tier (shit even more expensive), etc. The only positive thing I can think of that came from the take over is that bass pro price matches certain online stores now.
I've gotten a few good deals, and made quite a few good friends, but fuck you cabela's and fuck you bass pro. The wrest thing is that I still have to deal with them at my new job on a regular basis.
Oliver Flores
Cabela club card is actually pretty shit unless you spend enough to get a black card (5 percent in store points back) or use it during limited time promotions. You're better off with a 1.5-2% or revolving category credit card for everyday use.
Nathan Harris
Both are owned by bass pro, so that's why.
Noah Butler
I've been to at least a dozen Cabelas and I can confirm that this is the best one. Protip: The ones which have the full restaurant/grill that serves the elk burgers are the good ones, the ones which just have the Fudge & Nut shop are shit tier.
>no military or first responder discount Good. I don't want to subsidize your private purchases.
Parker Cox
>going to large sports store chain for guns People actually do this? Don't know if it's just me but that sounds like you'd have as good a time at walmart

The one is wheeling,wv is alright as long as you don't go the between October 1st through January 1st. The holidays and Deer Season turns that place full retard
Josiah Phillips
>live a block away from my Cabelas
Sure they price their guns higher than anywhere else but they often have sales on ammo and price on reloading related stuff is good. It's nice to be able to walk down and get something you need while reloading such as a 8mm mauser casing cutter or what not.
For some reason they order pallets of soft drinks nobody buys so they always have a bunch blue stickered at the checkout.
Jackson Baker
I bought a nchp Beretta 1201Fp from them for $449. Did I fuck up Jow Forums?
Jacob Moore
Bass pro is a fishing store why would you expect any decent variety of guns?
Liam Hill
Whites are superior. Guns culture is white culture
Matthew Fisher
They have an okay stock of guns, mostly for Fudds.
Maryland gun laws means the one Bass Pro in the state is even suckier in its selection. It also doesn't have a good used gun section like the Cabelas "library"
I used to go there for flannel-lined jeans until I found Tractor Supply Company
Cabelas in VA has 2 fucked up M27 Finns that are COATED in rust. $600
They have 4 M91 finns that are either counterbored, or are in shit condition. $450
God Cabelas went down the shitter fast.
Connor Morris
Most gun library guys are fucking retarded. Certain stores more than others. Gun library also occasionally gets corporate buys of overstock surplus guns from importers distributors or other stores.
Last year they got a assload of swiss guns left over from century that were not quite bottom of the barrel but not great. But to actually buy them, century forced a ton of shitty sporting clays cases that cost 75 bucks. The buyer for cabela's bought it, and each library had to mark the price with the case in mind, even though the case couldn't be sold in store due to not being in the system. They were sold to employees for cheap, a buck even.
Cabelas is overpriced but it is not awful. Only a miserable autist would think so. Cabelas helps get normies into guns.
Justin Bell
>your shitty local Cabelas is shit >therefore they are all shit.
Stop being such an autist.
Wyatt Morales
>Worked for Cabela's for 2 years >employee discount was up to 23% off all in store items and food (excluding new firearms) on day one >discount would compound with used or clearance items >discount for used guns kicks in after one month on the shelf >free refills from in store grill >hanging out in break room with the gun library guys >pushing credit-cards onto people despite knowing that no one wants one or already has one >being forced to compete with other departments over who can register the most cards >adults telling their dirty little spawns that its okay to touch/ride the mounts >knocking over the coyote >the constant shifts in management >Infighting between managers would sometimes result in whole departments quiting >hear shit over the walkie-talkie like 'someone's dog just dropped a deuce in fishing' or 'hey we got a code [color]. person wearing ____ just pocketed some mags. stand clear of them because they may be armed'. >they knocked over the coyote again That fucking discount made everything thing worth it in the end. I still like to shop at Cabela's, but i'll never work there again.
Worked at Cabelas just for winter season between semesters, and it is very easy to spend your whole Cabelas paycheck at Cabelas.
Met folks that had been there for years, and they had the same problem.
Joshua Rivera
The discount has changed ever since February or something. The only good discounts are now cabela's branded stuff at 45%, 3.5, and pro forms.
Not worth working there for anything anymore, especially not at the gun counter. Even sucks for warehouse guys now too, since they're forced to spend half their shift on the floor helping customers now.
Levi Harris
One of the few good things about Cabela's is their gift card system. Their merchandise is slightly overpriced but you can buy discounted gift cards or gift card codes from third party websites and turn down the overall price to reasonable levels. >gen4 Glock costs $560 or something I forgot how much exactly >buy twenty eight $20 gift cards from a website for $17 each >enter twenty eight codes on checkout page like an autist >Glock now cost $80 dollars less
Nolan Myers
>it is very easy to spend your whole Cabelas paycheck at Cabelas. Words of truth I would limit myself to just ammo, food and clothes. Got a really nice jacket for 70%~ off one time.
Figured it would change after the buyout.
>Even sucks for warehouse guys now too, since they're forced to spend half their shift on the floor helping customers now. Those poor guys.
Those shitty gift card resellers are a huge problem for instore. I'm not talking about legit places like the discounts you see at costco, sam's, staples, or even SVM giftcards on ebay, but those ebaylike sites that focus on selling "used" gift cards.
They don't come out with bar codes, their codes don't have all the digits, the balance is wrong, etc. Fucking nightmare. One of the fixes that was given was to run them as gift certs and print out the cert. Turns out that doesn't take any funds off the giftcard, despite taking it. It's not like people got guns for free, since they did turn in their GCs, but those GCs that were thrown out were still technically active and no money taken, so cabela's basically just threw away money.
What a debacle that was I would guess at least 20 grand lost.
Leo Smith
>hear shit over the walkie-talkie like 'someone's dog just dropped a deuce in fishing' or 'hey we got a code [color]. person wearing ____ just pocketed some mags. stand clear of them because they may be armed'. I've always wondered about this. Every small gun store I've been in has pretty tight security (employees open carry, workers in the back have long guns ready to go etc) but at the big box gun stores it's usually some random unarmed guy manning the gun section. What's stopping a couple of guys from walking in five minutes before closing time and strong arming the place?
Nothing. A few guys at my store actually carry loaded mags, which is against policy, so if shit like that happens, they just grab a display and load it.
Now, that plan doesn't quite work anymore because of the mandatory trigger locks that are a pain to remove because they're screwed on. I know a few guys who carry anyway, either under a vest or ankle.
Customers? They can fucking conceal or open carry all they want. We get retarded attention whores who OC loaded long guns from time to time, but most OC handguns. Some are also dumb and wear a duty belt because they want to be cops or something.
Charles Perez
Two questions:
1. What did you get firearms-wise with your discount?
I was at the cabelas in Boise, and the employees at the gun counter were more helpful than most gunshop employees. I walked out of there with a thousand dollar gun and 180 rounds of ammo for $309 that day. The Cabelas in Oregon sucks though.
Nolan Cooper
Cabela's had a d60 Magpul drum mag which was the highlight of my labor day weekend. Same shit about the credit card though, fuck that gay ass hat
Nicholas Lee
pretty much this.
>1. What did you get firearms-wise with your discount? A used Colt M4 and a years worth of .223 for it
>2. Could you greentext knocking over the coyote? like a full story about people knocking over the coyote mount?
Eli Williams
When I worked there, most of the firearms guys concealed carried. I was a cashier (with a CCW), and "Asset-Protection"/security would come and give me shit anytime I forgot I had my fixed-blade on my belt.
The general policy they had was monitor and report, (to local LEOs). Like the previous user said, they avoided confrontation on most suspected thieves.
Ethan Richardson
There are two in Oregon. The tualatin one actually has one of the better gun libraries in the company. The new counter has been not great due to lack of employees, and the fact that the back ground check area is seperated from the counter, giving the illusion of even fewer staff.
Background checks are also longer than other states due to Oregon being a point of contact state. Cabela's policies and the state makes buying a gun a long as process there. I was just there and it took me about 45 mins to an hour, but it is a saturday, which is always busy.
Wyatt Johnson
I’m usually pre approved for background checks, but yes, the one in Tualatin takes for fucking ever, regardless. And they are overpriced as all hell.
Jaxson Robinson
Not defending Glock prices but everything non-private sale is gonna be overpriced one way or the other >taxes >NCIS fee >transfer fee >current affairs inflation ffs there was this small gun shop I visited that would charge a pseudo transfer fee even when I am buying directly from their website, support lgs my boipucci.
Christian Miller
Oh, I thought it was YOU knocking it over and there was a cool story behind it. If its just dumbass customers nevermind
>And they are overpriced as all hell. If you're talking the gun library, it depends. I know that the tualatin library, due to the fact that it has good reputation for selling used guns in the company, gets dumped left overs from other stores. Those will sit until corporate marks them down manually. There were some part time guys who knew nothing about pricing and bought shit for terrible price.
Here's a protip, haggle. You can haggle in the library, Most of the time they'll give 5-10% off if it's been there more than a month. More if something has been there over a year. Big spender or signing up for a card, depending on who you work with, might even get more.
This does not work on the new gun counter, but the new counter prices matches local stores. Better yet, it price matches midway and brownells, which both now sells guns and are usually decently priced.
Austin Adams
Nah, I didn't knock it over, but it was a daily ordeal. fuck do I hate people sometimes. However, I would clean the mountain once a month. used to hide behind the polar bear and scare people as they walked by.
Nicholas Anderson
I watched a C308 there drop from 1200 all the way down to 699 or 599 (can’t quite remember) before somebody bought it. Either way, I have bought enough guns until next year, so hopefully they’ll get a bit better in time.
Adam Evans
>knocking over the coyote mentioned twice not sure why but that made me laugh my condolences user
Jaxon Williams
Gas the kikes race war now
Noah Rivera
My gf works at bass pro and the credit card shit is relatively new. It seems like after the merger the new combined management decided to go hard on making the shopping experience awful.
That 45% discount on all bass pro/cabelas branded stuff is pretty good though, even if it isnt much good in the gun section beyond cases and range bags. I'm not too sure if I'd trust a cabelas branded gun safe, even if it is half price.
Oh, and the CCW classes are like $25 each for employees, but that probably depends a lot on who is running it.
Carson Hernandez
The cabela's safes are made by liberty. Almost all of them are rebranded liberty products actually (and those are the only ones that liberty will extend their warranty for). They aren't true safes, but as far as RSC goes, they are great. Also there is a rebate proforma on them as well, making them fantastic if you are looking for a quality RSC.
No becuase my store doesn't have public access to the tank. A kid did jump the barrier to climb the mountain of taxidermy though.
Evan Garcia
nope. our tanks were only accessible from behind the wall. had a kid get his head stuck between the wooden posts of a guard rail. WD40 is truly gods gift to the world.
Henry Murphy
Those big slow slabs of fish with empty anime eyes freak me out so I wouldn't even if I could
The Cabela’s near me had a used GSG-522 for $500 (other gun shops in the area were selling them for $200). After one month they used it from used racks to the new counter and tried to claim it was new (receiver was beat to shit, chamber had never been cleaned)
This is a bot that post only pro Cabela's propaganda.
Grayson King
>want superior customer service monday through thursday, around 2pm >want to avoid card pushers saturday right before closing
Dylan Murphy
>only a 17% goy tax >a pretty good credit card Nigger, the basic shitty card through my bank has like an $8,000 limit at 3.2%. Of course you pay that shit off monthly but don't fucking sit there and say 17% interest is good.
bro, bass pro has been pushing employees to push the card much harder since the beginning of the year. My store use to only have a club card table at the entrance on the week end. It's everyday now. Also, if you are caught not mentioning a card to a customer, you can be written up. My store goes as far as gun counter guys requiring to document customer responses on the sales sheet.
The best thing to do to not get annoyed by employees about the card is to carry around an ammo card (the little info pamphlet about the club card). This doesn't shield you from prequals while checking out a gun though, as employees are required to read you the script. Had a guy lose his shit really hard what that happened and you yelled at one of my coworkers for asking him again.
Also, time of dally means nothing in terms of quality, only quantity. It use to be my store use to have days with almost everyone being great outfitters. Nowadays you'd be lucky if there was two people who knew how to run shit properly.
