Gun got soaked for two weeks when a Ziploc failed. It's a POS Kel Tec P40 that cost $165 7 years ago, so I don't give a shit about it, but if ity salvageable, that'd be nice.
So far I've soaked it in vinegar and now I'm going to Rem Oil the fuck out of it.
why the fuck was your shit in a zip lock bag in a wet environment?
Luke Price
>kel tek No shit it's a pos. Just scrub it to get the surface rust off and coat it with a protective oil. >remoil user that's water in a fancy bottle.
Gavin Smith
Vinegar, rinse well, WD-40, then oil of your choice. You want to get rid of the water before you oil it. WD-40 does that well.
Noah Hall
Did you have a legit toilet gun??
Nicholas Roberts
>I'm going to Rem Oil the fuck out of it. might as well just use water
William Cook
Don't put your life on it, but it should be fine for at least the first shot. You probably want to get a new spring though
Thomas Roberts
Trying to be the cool paranoid guy in the movies with a gun in his toilet tank.
Nicholas Lewis
>drop in bucket of used oil >forget about for a year >find it one day on accident again >scrub to perfection easily Friend found an ancient revolver that her now-dead father had left in an oil barrel for this reason.
Owen White
>Not taping it to the lid of the tank in a name brand ziplock.
There's your problem.
Jace Allen
Make that at least 2 ziplocks as well. A second line of defense really helps
Isaac Brown
My grandpa left an old soviet makarov in a tub of ancient antifreeze soup in the back of his garage for decades. I only found it last summer. I left it there.
Elijah Butler
The problem with vinegar As an acid it eats at all the material, not just the rust.
you got to go with floor boards or a hole in the wall.
Oliver Collins
if you ever get searched by the cops, that's were they go first too many moron movie watching drug dealers try that trick and now all the cops go right for it
Noah Jackson
What would be a good way to hide such things then?
Nolan Cox
Hidden closet inside of a dummy hidden closet
My dummy closet is inside my coat closet and has a throw-away hipoint, ammunition, and cash The secret closet inside of that has the real stuff that needs hidden from prying authorities who paid off a judge for a warrant.
Elijah Lewis
you rolled a 1, user. i hope you learn from this.
you need to detail strip. vinegar is a good start. once it's completely apart scrub with rubbing alcohol, dry off with a paper towel, then treat with ballistol. test and repeat until you're confident the pistol works. now take it apart again and replace all the springs, those are ruined and need to be changed.
>user ends up on daytime talk show years from now >user you are not the father!
Julian Williams
Replaced the springs, since wolf only sold them in a 3 pack, I still had a couple. I'll probably reblue or something for the slide; it didn't have much bluing on it anyway. It seems too shity of a gun to parkerize or cerekoat.
I don't particularly like the gun, that's why it went to the toilet. I already have stuff hidden in decent spots, just figured, why not. Now I know why not.
