How terrible of an idea is it to buy a stainless Remington R1?
How terrible of an idea is it to buy a stainless Remington R1?
Could be worse, at least you aren't asking about a Springfield Inc 1911.
This is the only place I ever see anything bad about them
Buying a Remington anything is a worse idea than wrapping your penis in aluminum foil and sticking it in a power outlet.
Expect a horrendous trigger pull from the firing pin block. It's like dragging a grand piano over a gravel road with your finger.
I've seen someone do that
I don’t believe you
Did he think he was going to get an involuntary erection?
The R1 isn't the worst gun Remington makes, but there are a lot of 1911 clones on the market to choose from at varying price points/quality levels. You can get one that doesn't support a shitty company that should hurry up and go out of business permanently.
You saw someone buy a Remington? That must have been hard to watch.
>The R1 isn't the worst gun Remington makes
Only because everything with the Remington name on it is a total catastrophe.
Look up toto tinfoil on YouTube
HH brother
right out of the box they aren't great
it is an excellent start to a custom though
>trigger job and action fit
>ring hammer and fillet the grip safety to accommodate
>new sights
>striate the front strap
>replace the magazines with quality ones
do all that to it and you can have a great 1911
it's much better than the RI ones for just a little more money
DON'T
BECAUSE
1911
STUPIDFAG
What's something competitive to an R1 enhanced for a similar price?
I wouldn't buy anything by Remington until they straighten their QA out. Try the offering from Ruger.
It probably works fine only Kimber could fuck up something as simple as a 1911.
But I don't support Remington out of principle
Don't trust Jow Forumss opinion.
Fair enough, I guess. But if I'm buying a 1911 from an American company that hasn't fucked us over at some point... what does that even leave?
No u
This might be a stupid reason, but I don't like the black parts on the SR1911. I know I could just replace them, but with the extra money that would cost, I might as well just dump an extra couple of hundred dollars into the initial cost and get a better gun.
Which is something I'm considering, actually. I'm also thinking about a stainless Colt Competition. Anyone have anything to say about those?
What do you want to know about one?
Ive got one in 38 super because I reload.
Ive shot about 300 rounds through it and I've only had malfunctions with sig crown ammo, but they've not worked in my other 1911 either.
I BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN AAAAFRICA
i got one right now, weird
>if I'm buying a 1911 from an American company that hasn't fucked us over at some point... what does that even leave?
How about an Auto Ordnance (under Kahr Arms)? Good quality at a similar price to that Remington you're considering.
I have to admit I recently played around with a new Remington 700 at Cabelas and it was really nice. I didn’t by it because Jow Forums has me convinced something will go wrong with it but it’s eating away at me, I liked it way more than the Ruger American I ended up getting and think I may have made a mistake.
*buy
My buddy has an R1 a few years ago and it was garbage. I mean pitiful. This was before the R51 incident too. The R1 would surface rust where your prints were on it overnight, the rear sights just literally slid off one day, and it has multiple types of failures, failure to extract, feed, etc...It was a complete piece of shit. I wouldn't mess with Remington unless it's older before greeddy ((())) took over the company
I got the Remington 700 vrt, works like a fucking charm. First gun I bought and have run ~17000 rounds through it. Killed about 700 raccoons and coyotes with it.
garbage company, and gross rollmarks.
I would get an ria or springfield if anything
Damn it, it was the vrt I was talking about too. I should have just bought it.
The PT-1911 never failed me. The R1 is redundant.
