Question for all yall rollerlock bois:
I've got a Century Cetme Sporter that is horribly out of headspace. It locks, it fires, it sometimes cycles but likes to shortstroke, and the bottom 1/8th inch of the spent case is swollen out and doesnt have the fluting markings. Pretty sure the monkeys at century just ground down the bolt head to make it lock. Do I need to put in bigger rollers? And whats the acceptable range for bolt gap?

Also how do you guys clean your roller recesses in the trunnion? I tried just wiping them out with paper towels and spraying CLP in there and got a lot of grease out but how do I get them spotless? bent toothbrush?

It moves freely. Just that the mags are tight and BCG is very, very tight. I’m panicking, I don’t know what to do about it.

Won’t be issue without the rest of bolt for trst fit. I wouldnt worry about it. I have some bolt carriers that are tight fits on all my rifles except one. Normally I would say scrub it and make sure inside is clean of csled on powder and then lube it but those HK ones are just safe queens meant to sit there and look nice to most people but never used to avoid risking a scrape or scuff.

I don’t treat any gun like a “safe gueen”. But this fit is so tight that I can’t get the bolt carrier out without taking the trigger pack out and smacking it out. It doesn’t even reciprocate properly.

Is $1k a reasonable budget for a good quality FAL build or will I be getting crap at that level?
I see things like Century sporters built on Imbels and L1A1/Imbel mash-ups for around $1k sometimes, are those good to go?

I thought about it, on my listing my main picks were those and a PSL, just can't really find them in my area which is flooded with shitty ARs (marine town), so I'm going to go with my second/third pick which is the rifle in question. Plus I'm getting a glock out of it so why not?

Why are L1A1 parts hard to find? Where are some good places to find them

Mine seems to only like cheap steel case ammo, which runs 100% and is cool with me. Some brass cased hunting ammo will hardly work at all though. Not sure if that's normal, but I'm not too concerned since 99% of what I shoot will be cheap shit. Other than that, I love mine.

Have you tried 147gr FMJ from PPU/Partizan?

Usually 50-58 cents while steel is 37-41 cents. But its basically M80 and more accurate and clean than steel. Compares alright with most of the surplus M80 or Euro equivalent Ive tried.

I'll have to try some next time I order ammo. Just waiting for it to cool off before I start shooting again.

How's that stock? I've held one of those before but not shot it, and it just felt weird. Does it have that uncomfortable hard plastic meat tenderizer pattern?

Just got a surplus stock for my m1a standard. Should I worry about the gaping holes in the stock that allow for parts the civilian m1a doesnt have?

Cetme are cheap cause surplus parts and century. PTR are “cheap” at around 800-1100 because delayed roller locks and stamped sheet receiver versus milled.

If its a big deal to you, you can get a dummy selector kit that fits in and helps to fill it. Or fill it with either bedding material, marine tex, or some similar shit.

I just leave mine. I shoot in the desert and bring my rifle camping. Reports of debris entering the action are greatly exaggerated.

Making sure the action is firm in the stock should be your first priority. Stand up with the rifle assembled fully, stock on floor. Grab the barrel, and forearm of the stock and try to jiggle the action forward/back and side to side. You can try it from the other side too by holding the forearm of the stock and yanking around on the receiver heel. If its loose then dont expect accuracy better than 2.5 MOA. Either bed the stock or hope your SAI receiver fits another better. I have better luck with the GI fiberglass stocks, havent had one loose yet.

To clarify in that first set of instructions i mean with the butt of the stock on the floor. So the barrels pointing towards the ceiling.
In the second part hold it like youre gonna shoot. But then use your trigger hand to manhandle the heel and see if it has room to move in there

I haven't shot it yet, it fees solid, though. I mainly got it for that aesthetic, but it adds a few pounds to it. The tread is a little worn out, so I'm sure with a jacket or a solid hold and you should be good. I've heard from some that they hate it, and I've heard from others that it's fine. Honestly for how much more compact and sturdy it feels, I think it will be fine. Expensive, though.

That’s the weirdest thing. Mine will eat any ammo you feed it from soft points to hollow points, brass, steel, whatever, shot like 3,000 rounds and never had a hiccup that wasn’t due to operator error.

Also, my panic was for nothing. A complete BCG works fine, and the steel mag was merely out of spec. It accepts aluminum mags just fine, though it doesn’t look as good.
