So what was the problem with the AK74 again?
So what was the problem with the AK74 again?
It's not as good as the AR15
Decent ones aren’t shipped to the States anymore
No problem with it, just lack of availability in the US

dey're scawy
Literal perfection of the Kalashnikov. Second only to the 553.
Nothing, my dumbass countrymen prefer AKM clones over it for some reason. We don't even have good AKM clones anymore so the AR is life.
>553
Faggot. The ar15 is better than both.
>Hey guise I'm Ian MehCuckum and me and my demonic friend are gonna shovel mud and clay inside this rifle.
>Yo it stopped working. Well there ya go that proves it. You should use AR15's to stop the patriarchy because AK's just won't function in normal everyday situations.
Agree. And the AR-15 is shit compared to the SR-16.
But the AK is supposed to be the rifle of the people!? How could Ian 'Manchurian Candidate' McCollum hate it?
>dey're scawy
Not very American
>me and my demonic friend are gonna shovel mud and clay inside this rifle.
They didn't shovel mud inside the rifle, they used the shovel to pour it on top. It's basically the same thing as crawling through mud or having your rifle drop into a mud puddle.
>AR15
>better
Not even close.
If I had a reliable source of non overpriced 5.45. I would own more than one. Also parts and mags are bullshit quality sometimes.
Nothing, it just wasn't the 107
If i shoot out my slr 104fr barrel then can i replace it with a 5.56 barrel? What other things do i have to do to convert to 5.56?
Yeah
Right. I'm sure their little test was a better experiment than oh I don't know... 70 years of warfare.
tfw I bought 30k rounds of 5.45 in the 90's
because he's a gay nigger loving kike and he'll die of hyper AIDS
Are they both sub-MOA?
You are fucking stupid, whether something is "sub moa" depends on a fuck ton of different factors mainly the barrel and ammo you choose.
>mainly the barrel and ammo you choose
uh.. no
It depends on the actual shooter 1000% more than stuff like that.
A good shooter with the shittiest tulammo/wolf ammo will nail your ass at 400 yards pretty consistently while a shitty shot with the best barrel and ammo will miss consistently.
Broseph. I still have around 25k of it.
Thanks for the heads up. -ATF
AK74 and AR15 owner here. This pretty much, at least in terms of US ownership and modern thought on what a fighting rifle should support. It was great in its day and honestly kicked the ass of contemporary M16s but nowadays when people want some sort of night operability the 74 just doesn't have a lot of options, and people prefer using the myriad options for picatinny mounting of optics and don't want to spring for a dovetail mount on top of all the nice shit they already have. The AR15 has adapted to the modern world while the AK74 has not. That being said, I still prefer shooting my 74 because it has better ergos, better controls, and shoots smoother.
One thing to note for the test though, is that it does not show long term reliability. You have to keep that ar 15 clean as a bristle for it to be like that. If you get dirt in the gas system...
meanwhile you can abuse the fuck out of the ak and not clean it very well at all (literally hose it down) and it will work.
Bakelite
Ammunition availablity is the only problem I have over 1.5k rounds through mine in the last 6 months of owning it and have had no malfunctions.
the only problem i can think of the ammo. specifically what the Russian military issues. they always issue some round with a non lead core like 7n6. the whole reason the round has a good reputation for wounding is that its super fucking pone to fleet yaw. i don't know if all their rounds perform like that, but the boolet construction found in military issue ammo makes me wonder if they have similar issues to what we had with m855
>.21 caliber
>ice picks worse then 5.56
>less velocity then 5.56
>easily blown off course by wind at extended ranges
>deflected very easily by light brush
>not very accurate overall
they tried to copy 5.56 and made it worse.
>its super fucking pone to fleet yaw.
the russians abandoned the whole yawing concept in the late 1980's, 7n6 is decades old obsolete round, modern russian 5.45 does not yaw.
do they use lead core ammo these days? can't find anything on Wikipedia.
In the late 80's they came up with 7n6m which filled the air pocket in the tip with lead, it yawed to much for it's own good and brush and other things would cause it to fly off course, in the early 90's 7n10 came out which is still the issued standard ball, the core is a hardened steel, tip filled with lead.
> 5.45x39
> Ice Picks
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I should add you can find 7N6M on the market, anything 1988 and up is 7N6M.
they did the same for 7.62x54r, it has core much harder then the usual light ball steel core, it's designation is ST-M2.
