Hello friends. I recently got a chance to spend a day shooting a Beretta 92 compact, and I have now purchased one. Waiting for it to get to my FFL.
Anyone own or have access to one? I absolutely LOVE this pistol.

No experience with one, but I want one.
I have no all metal pistol and I think the 92 is a great way to go. Thought about the CZ, but I don't like the small grip area on the slide due to the design.
Change safety/decocker to decock only. You'll be glad you did.
Second time hearing this. I'll look into it. Thanks.
I agree. I just like the beretta style more overall. MEATY
I would also do this conversion. In my opinion, it is the only way to go. However, I treat every pistol like it is a Glock/Revolver. No safety, no finger on the trigger unless you're firing. And I want to fire when I put my finger on the trigger, not fuck around with a safety.
Want an inox one someday just for the aesthetics desu.
I want a Brigadier but it seems the new factory ones only come in Inox. I kinda want to larp like I'm Riggs or McLane while finger banging one and watching those films.
I find it amusing that the "compact" has almost the same dimensions as the full sized hi-power.
Me too, but that little bit shaved off makes the big beautiful monstrosity that is the 92...acceptable. in my opinion.
you can get 17 round mags from mecgar for the fullsize, can you get like 15 round flush fit mags for this or only 13 rounds?

Safeties on DA/SAs are holdovers from SAO autoloaders and people not knowing how to really handle a DA/SA. Some can be ignored because the decocker is a separate lever, but the 92's one is especially a pain because it's also the decocker, and doesn't return to fire after decocking. Decock every time your pistol comes off target (and administratively), and treat it like a DA revolver during draw, first shot, and re-holster, and you'll be as safe as safe can be.
You should convert, or have a gunsmith convert the safety to a G model (decocker only.) There is no reason to have a manual safety on this pistol.

CZ slides are fine, you just need to practice with them. The benefit you get from the lower bore axis for me at least outweighs the negatives of having less real estate to grip.
I've got the same one in your pic with the decocking kit I installed. Can confirm that the decocking kit is basically a necessity. Lovely gun, light on recoil, and the actions feels like it's riding on bearings. The grip fits my hand quite a bit better than the full-size, and I don't think I'd really be able to carry it unless I was layered up for winter but I'm a small guy.
I own the pistol of which you speak, OP. It's not necessary to do a G conversion on it like others have mentioned if you just practice on your draw. Disengaging the safety as you grab the pistol is super easy. It's my favorite pistol and I have put more round through it than any other gun I own.
How compact is it when compared to the full size.
Don't think Mecgar ever bothered to update the capacity on the compact mags like they did the full size. Kinda a moot point though, 13+1 is still double all the popular super compact single stack 9mm guns on the market now, and you have the benefit of using standard 15 or 17 round mags as a spare mag if you wanna go that route.
Why do so many people get resident evil grips for non-accurate guns? If you're not going to go all the way, what's the point?
I've done it all the way, man. ;)
