A 50 cal ammo can full of steel cased ammo in boxes for every caliber I care to stock. I shoot too much and make too little for it to make sense to do anything different. I have a couple cases of 12 gauge as well.

I have 10 mags for my semi auto rifles (unless you count AR or G3 mags then I don't fucking know how many I have) and four for most of my pistols. Ideally one gorrilian*10, but let your budget and shooting habits dictate reality for you.

I’d like 1000 rounds of each ammo type I have, plus 500 for each additional gun that uses that type except for 12 gauge which I’d half. Then probably 5-10 loaded mags for each fire arm.

Currently I’m sitting on about 800 7.62x39, about 500 9mm Luger, 200 9mm makarov, about 200 12 gauge, and I’m just starting to build up my 556 with around 250 rounds.

I want to buy another 1000 of steel case coz I found it at 20c per round but I was in a money crunch at the time and now it's jumped back to 24c per round so I'll just wait it out

Meanwhile I shoot about 500-1000 22lr per month so I usually keep 1000-2000 of that in surplus

Are you opposed to steel cased ammo? You can get 500 rounds of wolf for under $100. I've seen it for as low as 75. .223 isn't as cheap but cheaper.

Just stay away from reloads. Every time I buy them I regret it.

I shoot it because it's cheap and easily accessible. Walmart always has about 20 boxes stacked up. If it ever becomes a repeat of the scarcity of 2015 I'll just buy a few extra boxes and not shoot 1000 every month so I'll have 5000 or something.

A fair bit of 22lr but will buy more when I figure out which one my rifle likes best.
Probably about 100 rounds of each chambering of my hunting rifles (possibly 200 for my 300 win mag). Again, only once I develop a handload/s.
I still kinda want a .30-30 as a shtf rifle but can't afford one just yet, but I'd keep about 300 rounds in stock for that

Matching numbers on swiss rifles are very common, they are well taken care of.
Maybe consider buying Gewehr 11 or Karabiner 11 when you get a good deal on one, they have been made to an even higher standard of quality.

10,000 of every round I own, for sure, plus some more because I obsess about not using "storage" ammunition for plinking at the range.
Then I get a few other calibers I thought might come in handy if anything ever happens around where I live again. 50BMG, some 300BLK, 762 rimmed, etc.
So, overall? I don't actually know. Probably somewhere around 100,000 rounds or so. That being said I only shoot like once a week so it's not a huge deal, really.
