/arg/ AR General: Poverty Build edition

Old thread: I'm trying to build baby's first poverty rifle and I came across this carbon fiber lower on GunBroker. I'm usually skeptical of anything gimmicky like this, but the fact that it has a lifetime warranty is enticing. Having a lower which is half the weight of an aluminum lower is also attractive. Have you guys heard anything about these lowers?

"no"

Plan on using that warranty a lot, or at least until that company goes out of business. Otherwise, hard pass.

When I can pick up Aero M4E1 lowers for like $60, I see zero appeal to some no-name polymer lower that's 20 bucks cheaper.

plz don't be srs

It's not carbon. There are strands of carbon in it, but it isn't carbon.

Can you guys help me identify these rail covers? Also, what’s a good way to mount a light using a top rail?

A KAC 600m rear weighs less than 1.5oz. How fucking weak are you?

Does the g33 magnifier interfere with your peripheral vision when it isn't engaged? Thinking about picking one up for my home defense AR with an eotech on it.

It adds a second optic-sized object in the middle of your field of view. What do you think?

>Does the g33 magnifier interfere with your peripheral vision when it isn't engaged?
Yes

No
You can change which way it flips so it’ll be out of your FOV depending if you’re right or left handed

Why would you ever buy a plastic lower when you can get a metal PSA one for the exact same price

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOURCE ON FUCKING TECHNICAL DRAWINGS WITH MEASUREMENTS OF AR MIL SPEC FORE CONTROL PARTS

Why yes, lowers like those with that low, wide shelf require only one modification before you're able to install a Safety Sear (it protects against hammer follow in the event that your trigger disconnector fails)

Attached: 70327904.jpg (965x427, 23K)

Fire* control parts.
All I want is semi auto standard specs, measurements, etc.

Bruh PSA has them for like the same price and they are all metal. Dont be dumb.

Probably not wanting to drop $160 on a back up rar sight.

You can't crush, burn, or saw those as quickly as a polymer lower, silly boy

Attached: 278904120282.jpg (879x228, 81K)

Isn't it far more difficult to get the internal bits than to drill the holes?

Yes

I don't trust those, I had one with overmolded inserts that worked, but get yourself a decent aluminum lower for your first AR.

lads who have built AR10s, did you test for headspace or is it an overblown meme?

Is this an acceptable method of checking for headspace with out the use of gauges?

can't fold out of the way of any gucci fuckhuge optic, disqualified.

Not when the shelf is already milled out for you, as is the case with the OP's lower or

Attached: shelf.jpg (878x237, 17K)

I have a 20 inch AR and I found a company that does OD A2 and M4 style furniture. I'm seriously considering buying some and making a C8 clone.

Damn I botched the reference...
>welcome to...

just don't bother with cloning the optic. piece of shit two decade old fixed 3.4x that costs $2000

What if, and hear me out, someone gave you a plastic 80% lower for freebies? And what if, and hear me out, you had a bunch of left over assorted spare parts so that all you needed to buy was a gas tube, gas block, and bcg?

Not orig. user, but why do people do that to ARs, having a scope instead of a sight on it just makes it look retarded imo

>>Not when the shelf is already milled out for you
>What is anything not old Colt

unless you want to buy an LMT, you can't clone a C8 since they have monolithic uppers

Attached: greenrifle.jpg (1458x1920, 465K)

>having a scope instead of a sight on it
opinion dismissed, noguns

This, BUIS weight is practically non-existent

Those sights are actually already too short to obscure your optic because they are supposed to be installed onto an HK416 12-o'-clock rail, which are taller than the A3 Flattop

What geiselle trigger do I want? Thinking the rapid fire. It's for a home defense SBR build.

no dummy, they would literally be in the way of any LPVO that extends backwards towards the charging handle. they're too tall.

ssae

Only thing going on this would be an EOTech or some other dot/holo, so it doesn't matter much to me. They actually seem almost perfect for the height of my OKP, so I'd imagine with something like an EOTech it'd be about 1/3 cowitness.

Because they want to shoot closer things faster or farther away things. Doesn't matter what the rifle is, glass is better than irons if your intention is to shoot things.

How does that make it easy to acquire the internals?

you might as well be posting one of those unmarked govt overrun b5's brownells sell for $50

Low shelf is not the same thing as M16 shelf. Most of them including yours probably look like this, which is based on the Sporter II minus the sear block

Is that barrel free floating?

Although is not an argument, the C8 looks like its hand guard could be replaced with little to no tooling

Ah, excuse my ignorance.

Only the IUR does you dumb fuck

Dude I have that brace and love it. Honestly see no need to go SBR with something that nice. I'm 6'3" and can run a magnified optic with no eye relief issues at all.

No worries, offering insight and perspective is what these generals were about before the trips made it about themselves and their drama

I used to think the same, but then I put an efile in and it took 9 days total to get approved. $200 isn't that much money and stocks are a lot more comfortable.

Is that trigger guard as comfy as it looks?

Attached: BCM4A1.jpg (3264x2448, 1.42M)

Anyone a POF Renegade+?
It has everything I want in a pistol, but I’m apprehensive into’ing $1900

And why do the majority or builders not go shorter than like 10” on 300? 9” is optimal for length/performance and with a can on you’ll reach that if it’s 8.5”

Attached: 8AF301B3-C378-4A83-912C-BF919F4D628C.jpg (777x674, 44K)

Cost me a lot more than just the engraving, I was talking to the guy about wanting to do an AK-104ish clone SBR and he pulled a 107CR out of the back that they were about to chop and sell as an SBR. Engraving cost me more than expected :^)

Price for engraving was pretty reasonable though. Think it was $45 or something. They're a cool little manufacturer, they have their own lowers and they build AK's from parts kits n shit.

It's alright, nothing special really. Same as anything else honestly.

Do I need an AR pistol in my arsenal?
Currently I have one complete AR.
A 14.5" pinned & welded to meet NFA requirements.
Is there a point to building a 10.3 or 11.5? 4 inches saved doesn't seem like much.

>need
no, not really. but... why not?

Attached: DSCN1880.jpg (1979x1191, 1004K)

11.5 is goat

I mean, I want one because I want another AR to have. But I was just wondering if there was anything else I should do first.
I am currently only sticking with 5.56 as I like to worry about as few calibers as possible and do not reload.

>4 inches saved doesn't seem like much.
i recently assembled an 11.5" rifle and then compared it to a very similar pinned 14.7" rifle and it really isnt a big difference at all.
in my head, i thought a 11.5" or 10.5" would be really short but like you said, its only 3-4" in difference, its really not a "big deal" for lack of a better phrase

You need a 20" before a 10.5", imo.

what's a rail like this that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Attached: MI-CRLW12.625-2.jpg (1200x439, 243K)

with just kind of guessing for what youd like, id say an alg rail (on sale of course)

Midwest Industries is the budget option.
