What sword would you buy for combat and what sword would you buy for display?

What sword would you buy for combat and what sword would you buy for display?

Im not in combat, and even if i was i wouldnt use a sword. But if youre just asking for the sake of hypothetical discussion, i would say maybe something like a sabre/cutlass

Pic related. Both for display and work and combat

>sabre/cutlass
Why choose those ones?

Katana forged from nippon steel folded 10000 times in the fires of mordor. Nothing else will come close when you're in the heat of battle.

A rapier for combat, a spathion for display

A lang messer or gross messer

Wallace*

Sabre for combat, katana for display/ceremonial executions and suicide.

Display swords
Traditional Tamahagane Daisho with matching tanto
Blades made in the Himilayans/Nepal
Gaelic/Ancient Celtic swords and knives including US Civil war confederate stuff.

>Celtic sword
>wanting an iron sword
Kek

Are you arguing that celts only made iron swords? Because some of their iron came pretty close to steel, especially the Galician stuff. They also used bronze to great effect and artistry.

Why are sword self defense fags always this special kind of stupid?
Cold Steel, that company was literally made for people like you OP.

We'll there is some evidence for this kind of stupidity. In most third world countries machetes probably kill more than they should be able to in modern warfare. However despite what people think there aren't shadowrun style street samurai running around with gliders and decimating a entire team with melee alone, they're used in attacks of opportunity or executions. However by the nature of first world crime you always start out in a bad position with a opponent that's been following you for some time, so unless he's dumb enough to not use a loaded gun from a distance and you have mastered the ancient nip art of drawcutting like a shamuwai you're ending that night ventilated.

Stainless steel for display.
1060 (defense), 1095 (striking) carbon steel or 9650 (all-around) spring steel for combat.

> not getting wootz for display.

What is wrong with you.

Wootz is sexy.

It's cringe-inducing ugly.

How is the natural deposition of spheroidized cementite into rafts on a background of sorbite ugly.

This is the best answer.
Also, only "sword" currently being used around the world currently.

Either falchion or seax

Cluny falchion is best falchion

Dark sword for display
Reinforced club for combat

dude that thing IS a club. A very overweight club

That one belongs on "based"

A kind of cutlass, realistically, because I have no training.
If I did and could design my own sword based on aesthetic and useability, it would be some kind of side sword/basket hilt thing.

For fight and for display.

have a longsword and zweihänder
longsword is on display, would use the zwei

>sword
No thanks. I prefer a long stick with a metal pointy bit at the end.

Already bought a sword. Don't need to make this decision.

Flanged mace for combat and knight's decorative zweihander for display.
