Looks like it's been settled once and for all.

> ZE TIGER IS ZE BEST
Screams the German as he drowns in Shermans and T-34s

When playing Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation, or Zero-K; I find my preferred play style to be a smaller number of more powerful units that I micromanage. Although this is a half assed correlation, the idea of focusing on fewer more powerful tanks is quite similar.
But the problem with this is I also have a small convoy of engineers behind said unit. When it's not in combat it gets repaired in real time. When it stops it gets a shield, cloak, and more turrets around it.
The Tiger lacks the one thing that makes this work: a massive support system behind it that can fix any problems it has and make sure it faces the enemy at 100% every time. Without that logistic support the best strategy I've found is lots of smaller, cheaper unit to overwhelm the enemy. Sound familiar?

>the idea of focusing on fewer more powerful tanks is quite similar.

The Tiger was a stopgap design, based largely on prewar development, that the Germans rushed out in a hurry once they realized the 3 and 4 weren't cutting it. And the reason they didn't make enough of them was because German industry was being throttled by a lack of resources and labor. It was not some technological marvel that they only made a few of because they only needed a few.

And the T-34 was not made in huge quantities because it was some cheap piece of shit that could be pumped out. The Russians simply had a superior industrial base that could produce far more tanks.

Right tank for the wrong nation, Germany didn't have manpower or resources so the last thing they needed was a resource-intensive vehicle that took a lot of man hours to build.

but this is the way of every warrior
Naked and powerfull with hits long spear
and his muscles. He can take many blows
but falls to the numbers of the slave races

>m-muh way of the warrior
Irrelevant when your embodiment of the warrior spirit wastes resources you can't afford to waste

While the German industry was being throttled, it's also true that the Tiger was built in few numbers because it was designed to be a fairly specialised vehicle, not to be the mainstay of the German forces. That job fell to the Pz IVs and Panthers which were pumped out in far greater numbers (although still not close to Sherman/T-34 levels)

The t-34 was indeed a cheap piece of shit however (for the first half of the war at least). no turret basket, shit optics, shit welding. While Russia had a much larger industry than Germany, that still doesn't mean they didn't pump out shit. A better comparison would be to the sherman which was built to a far higher standard in similar numbers to the t-34.

And the things burned oil like crazy. It wasn't uncommon for the oil pan to run dry before the fuel tank did.

The T-34's deficiencies had everything to do with the fact that, at that point in history, tanks were still a new technology. Even the British weren't constructing decent welded tanks at this stage.

The T-34 was not deliberately bad and cheap, it was in fact a pretty good tank (the best that Russia could build based on their technological know-how) and not even that far behind the best the Germans could produce. On top of that, Russia had a concentrated industrial base that was out of the range of enemy bombers.

The Tiger by contrast was a bundle of compromises, which is why Germany was trying to replace it with other models as soon as quickly as they could design them.

this one ?

>once and for all
>debatable
Hmmmmm...

>muh tank vs. tank
fucking retards... did you idiots played too many video games?

the tiger was a breakthrough tank that was build to be resist all kinds of at rifles and anti tank guns (soviet) up to and including 76mm (zis3) guns to clear the way for the much vulnerable medium tanks, trucks, apcs and infantry

aka. break through the enemy defenses succesfully
and the tiger did this job very well

tank vs tank is a complete waste and was ahappend rarly in tank engagements

I am intrigued by ww2 transphormers, are those a real thing

>REEEEEEE FFFUCKING WEHRABOOS AN M8 GREYHOUND COULD DESTROY A TIGER; WORST TANK EVER!!!!!!!!!
Now, that that is out of the way, all you mutts can leave now.
