Depends on what you're using it for. I have an old Marlboro faux wool lined one that is great, but hot as sin if you're not using it in the midwest and outside all day. A regular denim jacket is fine for mild/moderate winters and can be very effective if you use thermals underneath. Whereas the wool one you'll end up taking it off more often than wearing it if you live in a place that only has mild winters like Louisiana.
